Khon Kaen is one of the largest provinces and has a large economic base in the Northeastern region.
There are large hospitals, both public and private. And there are famous universities in the country as well.

Khon Kaen hosts one of the more open and innovative university in Thailand. Among its distinct alumni is the internationally best known Thai movie director - who sports several prestigious Cannes Film Festival awards in recent years. Interesting indeed. Khon Kean my favorite city in Thailand. Also Ton Tann market is probably one of the best food / open markets in Thailand. A special city .

Glad you recharged your battery, Paddy. KK city has really changed into a more modern city; yet, the old neighborhood streets still have that “old town” feeling. It’s a nice mix.

The train is a better option,..it stops right in the middle of town,..the bus station is 5 kms from town. Miss the joint already.

I've lived in and around Bangkok for 6 years but Khon Kaen is my favorite place in Thailand by far.
gotta say, i love the bike! it is old school and very country style. love it ! im from khon kaen and wasnt able to go back for a few years now post covid.. ridiculous ! missing home a lot. thank you so much for this video it just makes me miss my home even more. i can not wait to visit my home city once again!

I live not far from khon kaen, about an hour drive south. Small district called Kranuan.

the 10th annual Isaan music Festival will be held in early Feb on the dam in Khon Kaen. Its a bit like the Thai version of Woodstock and goes for 3 days...
Hi paddy another great video beautiful place. I've never had a bike but love my cars and I had one car leaked oil for ten years couldn't cure it so I just kept topping it up a friend told me it was a good thing because you always had fresh oil in it what a reliable car though. I also get attached to my old cars my wife goes mad when I get a newer one I keep the old one still for work or going to the tip so keep dreamy going the old one's are the best 👍👌

Khon Kaen is my home town. You should go try grilled skinny chicken, crispy skin and moist in the inside. Everyone loves it. It’s a popular local dish near the dam. Wunna is a famous restaurant there which has an outlet in the city centre.

The name of the dam is written 'Ubol ratana' but pronounced 'Ubon ratana' and is the name of her majesty, Princess Ubol Ratana , the eldest child of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit.
It's actually just Ubon rat. No ana

i love khon kaen. i too could live there. really thought i would do but circumstances change. i always stay at the kosa. love this art deco hotel, a little tired but beautiful. many wonderful Thai friends here that i miss. always go back to see them.

You can do if y can get around yourself then its a ok place to stay.
Without car or bike, i think it can be little difficult, i walking around in kk but not everybody like to do that.

when you settle back into one place buy your dream ct125. You can use it for long distance traveling and use dreamy for your daily inter-city commute.

Thanks for the great video, I love Khon Kaen! But please remember: a "L" at the end of a syllable is pronounced as an "N", so it would be "Ubon Ratana Dam". Same like for example in Chonburi, Satun or Ubon Ratchathani.

Don't worry too much about the leak. Just keep a bottle of 4t oil with you all time top up when necessary and check the oil level every morning before you ride off. Cheers.😁

Differently next level Paddy riding a motorcycle in the middle of nowhere in a country where you do not speak the language and wondering if its going to breakdown. We all love dreamy. I have a home not far from KHON KAEN Paddy, sell ya some land and we can be neighbors 555. Vector Coffee Roaster does roast some very good coffee. I have been in Thailand 8 years (Bangkok 5 and Udonthani 3) and owned a Honda Wave 125 from new in that time.
I generally only take the motorbike to a Honda dealer because they put genuine Honda parts and oil in and the cost is little if more than an independent.
If you leave your old Honda Dream at the Honda delaer for 5 days, they would be able to get any new part and seal for that motorbike.

It’s a nice place. You be able to pick up the issan dialects. It’s a little different from central Thai dialects but in time you will learn to distinguish their up and down tones …Most northeastern people can speak central Thai as well …
