Didn't watch the video because it seems like he immediately went to the shotgun approached and fixed everything while overlooking the most common problem. These cars are notorious for having leaky reservoirs. If the antifreeze is low it will affect the temperature gauge which in effect affects the air conditioning and heat. First thing I would do before ordering any parts is fill up the reservoir to the designated level which in many cases sells all the problems. That's a good reason to go to the dealership or someone who only works on chevys, fords, etc. They work on the same cars and know what the most common problems are months or years before they end up in a recall.
I'm helping my sons friend with his cruz. Everything is ok now but a few weeks ago it overheated and he got the ac message for engine to hot. Briefly, I thought the thermostat might have stuck. He added a little antifreeze at the time and turned the ac off. The guage went up but never made red. I figured the thermostat stuck closed and plan to replace it if it happens again. Its been three weeks. Any thoughts
I used a lazer heat reader and watched it today. Everything seemed to work fine. Fan turned on and off as temps rose. Turned ac on. I could see the temps risong and falimg as the thermostat opened and closed
My thermostat had failed open. As a precaution I changed both sensors. Was good for a time but the thermostat failed again caused by a bottle of stop leak I put in the system. Will be posting that video in a couple of days. Always something with these cars
When you change the thermostat you have to drain all the coolant and if you don't, when you change the thermostat air gets in and when you fill the tank with coolant do you have to remove the air? or not
Yes you have to remove the air. Once you top up, run the car with the cap off. The air will find its way out. Put the cap back on. Check it again the next day
If you order the set from rock auto they are the same. I ordered them separate. Water outlet will have one number. And rad will have an other. The dealer claims they are different
