Had the same problem once before on my 2019 Chevy Trax, same exact 1.4L Ecotec engine. Water pump gave out on me at 52K miles (free replacement under warranty). I've gotten the water pump replaced after that.
Do a block test to check for combustion gases in the coolant. Could have a bad head gasket or cracked head. Also test with your scantool the cooling fan assembly. The fan sounds like it runs on high, but may not run on low speed. If low speed does not work and the relay is good, the cooling fan assembly may need to be replaced.
I had bubbling in the reservoir. I changed the thermostat and a heat sensor. But it kept doing it. I had air int je system. I had to empty the radiator from the bottom. I bought a new reservoir . Before putting new coolant in. There is a white screw / plug on the radiator topright passenger side unscrew that add coolant slowly. When coolant comes out the hole. Plug up hole and turn on car keep an eye on the reservoir add slowly until filled between min and max.
I had water pump multifunction, thermostat was replaced (later on, bypassed, don't ask why 😮) Same air in the coolant sys and coolant bubbling with overflow. So water passed in the engine due to broken gasket. Too much issues with the cooling system on these Cruzes
I’m having the same problem with my do I have to replace the sensors or the reservoir tank for the coolant because what I’m seeing people are saying sensors and tank

Hi, thanks for the advice. End up being the water pump.
Also check the throttle body coolant in and outlet and hose . Those can clog up and reduce the efficiency of flow

Im experiencing the same exact problem i have a 2014 1.4 cruze doing the same thing problem came out of nowhere.. what was the problem
Reservoir tank
Ok thank you I truly appreciate it... I hope this is my problem as well because I can't seem to figure it out I'll change the reservoir tank
It's a bad pully bearing, not wheel bearing. Change the thermostat at the same time.
Yes I noticed that 🤣

@@lukec6202 Tank and sensor come as one.
@@HDGARAGE does that solve the problem
@@lukec6202 yes it did
My car doing this and I changed the coolant jug and sensors. I even changed the thermostat housing , thermostat and radiator water pump.
