    Thank you Michael Callos! The 2013 Chevy Malibu 2.5L has two sensors in the same arrangement as you describe and show on the 2011 Chevy Cruze; this one on top is even is you have shown, same, but no need to disconnect that large air-flow tube on 2013 Malibu 2.5L. The cold side, at the thermostat and lower radiator hose takes the steps of removing that bottom plastic splash guard or splash pan, on the Malibu, I think - didn't have to do that one. 13.00 and I was all set, - had the A/C is disabled, High Engine Temp warning light, and cooling fans ran even when the car was turned on, then off, engine still cold. $13.00 and all is good again! Maybe I should have purchased an extra retention clip, as I did drop mine and it took an additional 30 minutes and use of a magnet-pole device to recover and reuse the retention clip. Thanks Michael Callos! Keep on doing the videos. Thank you very much!

Temp gauge intermittent instantaneous swings between off/high/normal. Engine sounded normal. Coolant levels ok. Cabin heat ok. Watched your video. Ordered AC Delco part (gold pins) from Amazon. 24 hours later it arrived. Replaced in less than 45 minutes. Didn't need to remove hose.(1.4L T) Good tips. Dropped the clip once but remembered my flashlight under the hood before the test drive. cheers.

    For me, this dash warning was caused by a faulty thermostat. My car is an Opel Astra but the same engine as most of the Cruze models. You really need a cheap diagnostic tool to help you determine where the fault is. In my case I got that dash error, but my reader showed code P0128 (engine UNDER operating temperature). For me, the thermostat was physically stuck open / jammed open and the engine never reached operating temperature. Especially noticeable when driving on a freeway. The temp guage actually goes from normal (90) DOWN to 1/4 hot. Sitting in traffic, it comes up to correct temperature. Strange dash message as engine (in my case) was too cold, not too hot. Error showed after about 30 min of freeway driving for me. Hope this helps someone.

    I have a 2012 Cruz that is giving me this error. All I do is connect an OBDII reader i bought off of ebay and use Torque Light or something like that and reset the code while im driving and it goes away. I have a new thermostat and housing, thought about replacing both sensors but so far this band aid has cost me nothing and doesnt seem to adversely affect the motor at all. As im not sure what the problem is 100% i will most likely stick with this resolution until i can afford all new coolant and both sensors and just replace them all at the same time. I have already replaced a Coolant Hose Flange that was cracked.
    Symptoms:
    OBDII code im getting is P0128
    Temperature gauge shoots up to C and stays there
    OBDII reader is showing my temp running at 190-200 about 30 min driving around highway speeds (70s)

  • @professionalhater8808
    @professionalhater8808 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'll shed some light on this even though it's very old the fix is the thermostat housing the sensor in the thermostat housing bleeds coolant through and shorts out the plug so if you unplug that and see antifreeze there that is the issue it shorts out the sensor reads full hot tells the computer to turn on the fans to preserve itself and then you'll eventually get a p0128 because the fans dont allow the engine to warm up so the fix is actually the thermostat housing regardless if the thermostat is still good it's the sensor in the housing that is part of the housing no other sensor not on the driver side of the head not in the radiator because if you get a p0128 that means those two sensors in the radiator and driver side of the head are good the one in the thermostat housing will trigger the AC off due to high engine temp

    I had this message pop up on mine, but the needle was not marking at all and the coolant temp just shows "- °F" not marking at all. The engine is not hot and everything feels warm like normal so I'm not sure what my issue could be. I have not tried replacing sensors, but maybe that will fix my issue. The guy who originally fixed the problem said it was water pump, so it was replaced, then the message showed again so he replaced thermometer and messaged came on again, so I took to electrician and he said it was just a reprogramming issue so he reprogrammed it. And here I am again with the same messaged popped up again. Thanks for this video. I am going to replace this part now and hopefully it will be my last expense on this vehicle!

    I have a 2012 and i had the same message come up intermittently and when it came on my temperature gauge would go just a little bit above the halfway point. I messed up yesterday and open the coolant reservoir to add more when my car was still hot and it was steaming and boiling. I filled the reservoir and as soon as I took off down the road the temperature pegs all the way to the top as hot. I stopped immediately and let it cool down and managed to get to the next exit and I bled the lines. That seems to have somewhat fixed it but now the temp is going over the halfway point qnd i am having to run it with the heat on. A couple things, even though the coolant in the reservoir was boiling and steaming when i was bleeding it it didnt fewl very hot. Also last night while driving it the temp was mostly staying just shy on both sides oof the middle as long as i didnt turn off heat, but when i checked the temp of the coolant thru the computer it said the the coolant temp was 139. I am traveling and in the middle of nowhere and dont know what i need to fix. Please help

I ended up replacing the thermostat as well as the cooling fan for good measure. Ultimately the problem was resolved and from all of the research I had done it could have been any of those which caused the problem because all of those were factor into the vehicles computer misinterpreting it as running hot.

The car still warms up properly and never goes pass 220 anymore. Unfortunately my problem is related to something else if I leave the thermostat to factory specs it doesn't open even when the car overheats it's not fuse, sensors, I'm down to ecm or some ground I can't find anywhere or a wire. Wish thermostats would go back to how it was many years ago when it was all mechanical no electronics. Problems I've had are mainly issues with the thermostat not opening as it should have been replaced 5 times in the last 4 years.

    I have a 2014 Chevy Cruze that has been in the shop an insane amount of times over the past year. It’s at least once a month and costly repairs. I just started getting this notification, the day before I noticed the fan in my engine was really loud. The cabin of my car also doesn’t heat up and I’m dealing with a a Canadian winter at the moment. I drove it today and actually got a notification on the dash saying “engine overheated, idle car”. I’m really hoping this isn’t an expensive fix

    This happened to me twice on my 2013 Cruze. First time it was a leak at the thermostat housing so car actually was overheating due to coolant loss. The second time it happened it was not losing coolant and was not actually overheating. I assume the sensor is going intermittent and needs replacement. Thanks for posting this video.

    Just so y'all know please be sure the temperature sensor that runs to the water outlet is tight and does not move cuz when I replaced my water outlet I noticed it was fluid leaking from mine and kind of find out if it moves left to right or all the way around that means it's not the right dimensions made for that outlet and you need to go spend the extra 13 bucks and go buy one that's snug and fits and tight may have to tap it in there it might stop leaking but always be sure you unplug your battery terminal cuz if you don't it takes a few minutes for the computer to realize that the temperature sensor is inserted cuz I had the issue where it said AC was off due to high temperature I let it cool down I reset the battery plugged it back up and ran the car again in the engine was fine come to find out I thought I had a faulty temp sensor and it wasn't but mine went straight to cold not too hot

  • @CalBouton
    @CalBouton 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you buy 2 of the same sensors to be placed in both location (radiator/coolant sensors)? Or is there 2 different parts? Your link only shows 1 temp sensor, so I am guessing I can use the same part in both location.

  • @Eleanormbarrios

    i have a chevy cruze 2013 and we think the issue is that it is the fan thats not working properly becuz it doesnt really go on. its been overheating when coming up the cajon pass hill and we change the water pump and it wasnt that cuz there was no leaks.and the coolant in the resevoir is filled up to the top but still no fan so when coming home and parked on the drive way we unplugged the fan and plugged it back in and the fan turned on and so while it was on it said AC TURNED OFF DUE TO HIGH TEMP n the gage was down and coolant fluid went down and wasnt as high and it dropped a little so do you have any suggestions of what it may be if it is the fan or maybe the temp sensor.
