Iran's New President Being Labelled As Reformer Is Misleading: Seyed Marandi

- Iran's new president Masoud Pezeshkian, is seen as a reformer in the Western media, while former nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili whom he defeated, is seen as a hardliner. But do such labels actually represent who these people are?
In this conversation on The Gist, Seyed Marandi, professor at Tehran University, says these labels are misleading and are generally reflective of how the West sees them. Pezeshkian, for instance, may have reformist inclinations but remains a strong supporter of the clerical regime. That includes hijab for women.
Iran's new president Pezeshkian was not allowed to contest some years ago but was found suitable this time round. Does that suggest the result of this election was pre-ordained? Marandi says no. Whether it was Pezeshkian or Jalili, both had to campaign hard, they debated and the former was able to pull through.
Marandi does not believe Iran is isolated any longer. Ties with China and Russia are robust, Tehran is now joining the SCO and the country has been able to weather the worst impact of sanctions.
He does not believe the nuclear deal will move forward given the entrenched position of Republicans and Democrats in the US. That will not change even after the US elects a new president in November.
But Iran is committed to not having nuclear weapons, he underscored.
On Israel he warned that the Jewish state is committing genocide in Gaza. He also warned against moves in Tel Aviv to start a new military campaign this time, against Hezbollah in Lebanon. Israel, he said, cannot win. Hezbollah is a strong force and will not succumb.
A word about India. Relations have been moving forward despite sanctions and India is committed to expanding its investment and commitment to Chahbahar port. The clerical leadership in Tehran has a positive view of India and this will be built upon by Pezeshkian.

Listening to Prof. Marandi is always a relief, he answers the questions holistically clearing away the doubts and uncertainties. He shreds the Western narrative and exposes their shallowness and inconsistencies. 2 years ago, if my memory serves, it was Russia, just after the commencement of war, that walked back firstly from the renegotiation in Vienna on JCPOA.
Problem with PM Modi is more on West Sides than the East because of his relations with Yatinyaho means also America not aware how long he will keep India center line however time will say - America will keep India in Center to receive information thru and to keep as it is reason being to support India against China bad intention towards India and to grow economy stands agst China - situation to remain neutral can be fruitfully to India??

The interviewer is high on colonial kool aid.
How did the US or Europe be in violation of JCPOA signed in 2015, before president Trump revoked it in 2018 ? The sanctions were lifted from 2015-18. India paid its dues.
Not true.
Not all sanctions were removed.
Despite removing some sanctions European and American banks were refusing.
So, Iran didn't get the fruit.
Moreover, Obama was dragging sanctions based on so-called human rights violations and arguing that human rights violation sanctions were different from nuclear agreement sanctions.
So, Iran prepared a counter strategy of drones and missiles which had no relation of nuclear.
The US and western countries will never remove any sanctions against Iran or any countries who aren't aligned with the US foreign policies.
The Iranian government was naive to believe the US will remove all sanctions & consequently Iran fulfilled all the JCPOA requirements but received nothing Zero .
Luckily, stupid Trump has withdrawn from the agreement & saved Iran from such a bad agreement.
Saudi Arabia is soon becoming nuclear power, so UAE & the rest of the middle east.
Iran fulfilled its commitments under JCPOA for several years, while the US and western countries did not abide by the agreement, and still refused to lift the sanctions they agreed on they would lift. For the first years Rohani government tried to push the west to abide by its commitments, and then after Trump left the deal, they tried to convince the west to come back to the deal, especially under Biden. But at no point did the west remove the sanctions as agreed, and the devastating impact of the sanctions continued

A large part of fighting is currently happening outside of Rafah, in the north. While the occupation army can concentrate the civilian population in certain areas of the Gaza strip, the resistance fighters are defending Gaza from all locations, and are able to move swiftly underground and through the urban areas. So no victory for Netanyahu in sight

Nobody knows who started it and ended it. Concerning nuclear systems, the West already knew, so they went along only to make money. However, Iran's regime miscalculated. The US, about which we are concerned about nuclear use, is the one who used it first ever.
Regardless of these situations, we are dealing with malevolent frequencies and vibrations.
Finding out what happened and who is bad or good is almost impossible due to corruption.

Not true at all … professor Morandi is a right wing - conservative politician and does not represent the public opinion on most issues in the Iranian society, specifically when it comes to the VERY CONTROVERSIAL gov. Policies on hijab which has become a big issue for the youth and most women in Iran. Please note that
hijab is as important of a concern as is economy in Iran.
I am a woman in Iran, and while Hijab standing as a symbol for Islamic Rulership is controversial, the cloth as a headcover itself is not that much. It is literally just some clothing, and has very little to do with civil rights of women. I wish political discourse could focus on the actual real issues women face in Iran, not just some symbolic piece of cloth that has little influence on daily life.
There is not a word in Quran to force the ladies to cover their hair???
