actually i am a long last oasis player as well sadly it hurts to see my favourite game go so down, it surely was frustrating playing solo or in small groups bit just like rust is a toug game but i dont realy play it so much anymore because i jusy get sad remembering the old days ive met a lot of good and bad pepole in this game but everithing its just memories. Almost all these games that got a small buzz with a lot of popular TH-camrs but it didn't last for very long. It's a bit sad to see these games dying so quickly, it's very hard to make a good game!

I played CS:CZ back in 2006 with a very nice guy named "Tor" He was the friendliest guy ever and even hosted a server and so on. The last thing he said to me was "Tack för idag, vi hörs imorgon, loggar in klockan 18:00" Translated: Thanks for today! See you tomorrow, will log back in at 6:pm He never logged back in, never came back. Its now 18 years later and still nothing. I really wonder what happened.

Found out he died on a epileptic shock the same day he told me to see me tomorrow. Makes me sad when I think about it.

@@zthyphon Typhon i think i know you man, i think you were the one who taught me to play the game a long time ago. I hope you're that same guy, i always wondered where you went and why you aren't on the server anymore.
Biggest problem of deadside is that we can only rent servers from one or two companies and not make our own dedicated servers. Servers cost around 20 euros a month and are limited in their admin capabilities, so you wil have a lot of problems with toxic people and cheaters of course. Developers take note, if you want your dead game to survive give us dedicated servers and mod support! Here's to hoping someday they will wake up.
20€/month for a server and having hard limitations on administration sounds like a recipe for disaster, no amount of mod support would even be able to top the importance of full control over them.
They recently posted news on steam about the server situation and admin capabilities being expanded, unless I'm very much mistaken - news was from last week sometime on steam. They also added Battleeye not too long ago - say what you like, it's better than Easy and better than NOTHING. It's a foreign game and it's pretty obvious that it's not being made for mass appeal - so Westerners and English speakers would do well just to stay away - there are other games to play if you want to hold the highest standards. It's hard for me to see all of this fire and brimstone over a game that's doing it's own thing - updates are slow but it never 'failed' anyone, it's inclusion here is to get Rye paid. Shame on Rye. DEADSIDE, is a game made with performance in mind, yes a "Russian" survival game that by all accounts has not had an easy time at any point in it's life. Western Dad's flocked to it because it was new and casual, then canned the game immediately once it failed to keep adding/fixing things at a rate that would keep them entertained. Players cry "cheater" in every game these days so w/e honestly I think it's great to make a game that people can play, regardless of nationality or technological issues - pure and simple.
I try Deadside about a year ago I like some aspect of it but I find only 2 server with player on it and on both server their was people hacking so I just refund it, sad has I did like the gameplay
I played Fallen Earth back in the day. There was an American clan which was run by a bunch of ex military guys, so they ran the clan like an army company. I had to spend 4 hours one afternoon doing basic training in game to even start the application process to join them. Following orders, standing in line, doing drills, combat tactics and orders. It was hilarious, but loads of fun. The clan also absolutely dominated the entire map because they had so much discipline in combat, they won every battle they got in. good times.

The thing is, it's not dying or forgotten when they dedicate their lives to it. It's new, vibrant and has so much potential. Then they are invested, they've probably made a few close friends on the server as well. But then slowly the server dies. They don't want to lose their time in it (sunken cost fallacy) so they keep playing with their friends.
The games you just showed us looks like the poor and abandoned cities and villages around the world. The people are a small amount but when you come visit them they welcome you and give you stuff and they hope for you to come back and "visit" them. This is such a nice video!
I remember legacy Rust, I and 5 other friends played on one of the vanilla Rust server based in Virginia. Rust was a different vibe back then. It was easy to make new friends and alliances. The map was divided somewhat into valleys and I remember that all the bases in your valley had truces. The best thing I can remember was a war between most people on the server vs a clan that went by Nick Cage. No one seemed to ever get offline raided because they where having to much fun meeting others or having intense gun fights. Lastly I remember my friend group moving away from the game for a bit. Some time later we came back to Rust and that Virginia server where the players remember us instantly with greetings like "Welcome back lads!". Rust's community felt different back in those days.
Yeah these days people on their own or in small groups just rush material gathering to shoot up the tech tree then build a base that more than likely won't survive a night. If you found the right server in old Rust you'd have actual clans that put effort and creativity into their bases then go fight other clans in like actual battles and best of all it wasn't shoot on sifht for 99% of interactions.
Rust legacy was fr something special. I remember playing everyday on my family laptop when I was younger, meeting some of the strangest people and going on some of the weirdest adventures. Will always have a special spot in my heart

I’m glad you tested deadside. I used to be one of their developers. I was in charge of ui design as well as modelling and implementing boats and when I was finished, was told to work on some new map locations rather than ground vehicles. I quit last year with 2 other people when we had to force a bad economy change on the playerbase. We were told to ignore feedback and continue with the planned design. We joined with at least 3 other development companies to help with production and they all promptly pulled out not long after due to rude and questionable leadership. Development is slow because most of the workers are doing this as a side hustle after their real jobs. They only had the time and energy to do a few hours of development a day at best. Sometimes not doing any work on Deadside for days/weeks. The biggest downfall for the game is the final blueprint for release. 50 players max per server on a map that is large enough to host hundreds. We’ll never reach release but if we did, it would be too empty. The lead developer said no to nerfing the AI so no one is enjoying pve and pvp is not fun because of hackers which we had no plans to implement any anti-cheats against. Desdside has huge potential but the company needs to be sold to someone with better vision.
First Class trouble player here! The community is small but mainly nice. We have amazing people willing to help newer players and returning players about the game via a community made Wikipedia. Now the game is in a rough state as the developer are unable to update the game as the publishers company closed and the parent company has given them no information. I hope to see this guy in its prime!

Man, Fallen Earth. I remember keeping up with news about that when it was in early development around ~2004, but had forgotten about it by the time it finally launched. Sad to see so many games with really good ideas just miss the mark or not get the love they deserve for whatever reason.
its supposed to be getting a huge update from Little Orbit who own it now, along with APB... but I don't think its ever going to happen. FE is great and has one of the best crafting systems in any MMO, but it died a death, its like playing a 2006 game sadly, but I have played it a lot
hello, i just wanted to tell you something about the deadside. I really like the game, its like easier, more friendly dayz, with no network and D-sync problems. a majority people play on the unofficial servers, with active staff, because this game is literally full of cheaters, new anticheat helped but did not fix the problem. i play on one unofficial EU server, managed by Russian admins, they grateful for whoever will join, with heartwarming welcome. trying to do their best to make it great place for everyone with some rules. this game have really great community, with friendly people. 2 times was shot by player and then, he just told me to meet him in safezone to give my gear back. i believe this game is worth visiting. and now, they have bigger development team, so i believe they will update new game more frequently. and the last update was full of positive feedback.
I agree with this unfortunately the devs are not active they truly aren’t not enough content and updates took 4 years to get ability to prone I love the people u meet on it but it’s repetitive
Really enjoy being able to keep a base on a PVE and a PVP server at the same time and being able to hop back and forth. It needs weather, a land vehicle, and a way to light your base and it would be close to perfect imo.
Full of cheaters is new to me. was on 6 Rust servers and on each one there were at least 2 cheaters on dayZ server at least every 2nd server you choose has a cheater squad At deadside, I haven't seen any cheaters since it was released, neither on the officials nor on the player servers In comparison to 1000 hours of Rust, I've seen cheaters so often that it's enough for me DayZ 2900 hours had my 2 servers on which I never had cheaters 1100 hours Deadside never saw a cheater and the servers were partially full
I played Last Oasis when it came out and it was such an amazing experience! I started out and met a random clan and joined them (PK/Radium Oath). This led to so many hours of battling different clans with probably over a hundred players involved in logistics, coordination and of course fighting. There were so many stories formed in the weeks that i played the game, from goofing around with walkers to messing with streamers and the constant fighting of Chinese clans that were obviously cheating (*cough* iron introduction *cough*). The fighting system was amazing it had a big learning curve but rewarded skill. Its so sad that it has fallen because of bad decisions from the devs, but atleast the OG players get to keep the memories of this uniqe survival game.
I watched some of your old videos and they’re fine, but I really like this direction you’ve been going in for the last couple years. You’ve stumbled upon a really unique style and every video is great. Keep doing these.
I never knew I needed to see contents like this. The people that stayed loyal to these games are the nicest gamers that I've ever seen on the internet. You just helped them rekindle their passion for these games. I'm almost certain that they truly enjoyed every second of seeing a new player playing their game, asking for tutorials and explanation, this and that, despite it being "dead". I can relate to that feeling so much. Its just such a warm feeling to see.
Literally started last oasis the other day and was instantly hit with the realization that "this grind is not worth" before even getting through the tutorial.
its crazy to me that all these people in these dead games genuinely love you coming into their world and help show it off. they are so nice which is a huge 180 from the a lot of the gaming communities now-a-days.
Last oasis was one of the greatest gaming experiences during its season 1 era, clans organizing and grouping against one another. The huge server wide battle against the streamer backed Uwu clan was fucking crazy. hundreds of thousands zerging versus a scattered and barely working together alliance between many other factions. seeing the map turn green day by day until 3 major clans managed to stop its advance was so awesome.
I bought this game on the day it released early access, it was easily one of my favorites instantly. Checking steam just now, over 1000 hours. I was in the battles against Uwu, epic. Many other battles too. Season 5 was the nail in the coffin. Damn shame, this game had potential.
I played it back around 2015. The game feels clunky even by 2009 standards. It felt like playing an early PS2 game like Oni or X-Squad, which were extremely clunky. This prevented me from enjoying the game and I stopped playing after about an hour.

Last oasis was a game I saw on TH-cam in its early days, and bought and played on the morning of its ruin. I bought and played a game that no longer existed, and with no way to really play it offline or play the version I saw so long ago, I'm left with a game I so desperately want to enjoy, but can't because of the way the game changed right when I got it. It takes hours to get your first walker in Season 5, it took an hour to get your first walker in Season 4. You can store and protect your walkers off map when you want to log off in season 4, you need to play often and regularly to keep it for being torn to sheds overnight in Season 5. Season 5, feels like a job. You don't want to play, you have to play, so you can recover the progress you lost by sleeping.
This is probably my favorite series on youtube. You started something beautiful here. Being an "older" gamer i love the idea that i can hop on something i played over 20 years ago and can still have a chance finding people to play with. Im stil rocking the same steam account over 20 yearslater

Fallen Earth Classic is so good, It really is a close knit community and the systems are just so good. There is nothing else like it on the market and I wish there was, its just a diamond in the rough.
(A little more history on Last Oasis from an avid player) Not many people talk about Last Oasis, and I'm glad you covered it. I played it when it first came out... when it got a lot of traction from Twitch streamers like "Shroud" who of course is like a god-given gift for most games in terms of publicity. I remember there was an actual cultural war going on in the game between a U.S. clan named "UWU" with dozens of other clans supporting their attacks against multiple Chinese zergs that seemed endless. The combat in the game was so well done that if you had enough skill you were valued above all others and deemed a force of nature that most feared. You could make your name known just by your combative skills alone, and trust me the grappling hook mixed with the wingsuit gave you the best euphoric feeling you could ever feel, you generally felt like a vulture flying, scouting, looking for your next meal. I could go on and on about the amazing things you could do in this game. Same with what I think the dev's did to destroy it. in the end, this game truly will stay in my heart for well after I give up gaming, eventually, we all have to. Right? Well, this will most likely get consumed in the bottomless pit of comments. And I have gone off rambling too much. But I do have respect for the handful that still have faith in that dead.. deserted.. game.
I played Last Oasis for hours daily back in the initial release. I loved that game, got a friend into it and we roamed around looting and pvping. I remember the hype when they added meteors, and how amazing it felt to sneak into a crash site with crappy gear and make off with a bunch of raw iron. The sandwalker combat is something I'll always miss.

There are AI in gas zones, and it is a PVP server, so we can't vouch for other players, but as I say, it's a quiet server. We also have RAG building and vehicle's.
deadside is actually great, its come along way in the last few years, relaxing at times and ive had a few very memorable moments like storming the military base for gear with a team and full server, honestly good times
Man, Rust was wild. I remember it was a browser game and he was giving away free access if requested... and then when the new version released on steam he gave all "owners" even the ones who got it for free as a browser game , absolutely crazy.
Thebig thing with Deadside is this, they sold supporter packs to us for 10 bucks that came with extra storage at safezone, then later, gave it away to other players. Then, they added camos, which once bought, we all found out the hard way, you have to have a base down with a bench to even use them. They later added benches at the SZ, but you have to pay a HUGE fee per item to skin it with the skins you paid real money for. The devs can suck it

You just had to be there, in their prime, man.. They were all great. All of these games had something that games today lack, I feel.
I spent a great deal of time in Firefall and Wildstar. I loved Wildstar as it felt really different for me and was great during its peak. I didn't expect much of Firefall but I was surprised by how much it kept me coming back.
@@tcalvinm1981 Wildstar, much like Trickster Online and TERA, held a special place in my heart. Last I heard, a while ago, there's a Wildstar private server in the works, but I haven't checked back in to see how far along they've gotten. Fingers crossed.

Last oasis is one of the best survival games I've played. Simply the ability to take your base and flee or store it when you log out is perfection in survival game genre. I played this before the latests blueprint nonsense when the game was already dying and I ended up making friends which I usually don't in survival games. We had blast.
Honestly, that's really cool that everyone (even that one hacker) is really friendly to newbies. It makes sense though, as they want more people to play the game so it gets the devs' attention to fix/update it, it doesn't shut down, or both. I don't really play a lot of survival games, but hey, if this video gets people interested in these games and everyone behaves (I.E. doesn't hack), it'll be good long term for the people that still play these old games.
I played Last oasis when it came out and it was like no other game I have ever played, in the best way. There was a huge player base and pvp felt so good and it was really rewarding , even being a solo character was really fun and possible, the amazing part about the game was being able to build different vehicles, packing the storage on them with supplies for runs and exploring, looting and running around the worlds and coming back to main base with your friends greeting you back… that game actually felt like you were in some kind of family… I wish it really thrived…sad to see games like that slowly die…

i was there for launch of last oasis, it was a fail it took 2 weeks for them to get their servers working but once they did that the game was amazing loved it, you had to have your base on a walker that you could pack up and move... then they moved it to static bases i honestly dont know why they made that change, took the unique loved thing about the game and turned it into every other survival game mechanic
First Class Trouble looks quite fun. An underrated gem really. Almost tempted to give it a try mostly because of: 1. The nice community & 2. It's inspired by Among Us.
I miss season one of Last oasis, the clan battles and fighting for map tiles that weren’t even worth anything. The pvp was so fun, and seeing clans with 15-20 ships roll around with easily 100 or more people battle over tiles and honestly made me feel better then rust community’s ever did, I long for this game to come back and to reunite with players that shared the same dreams when this game first came out. 😢
Man, your music choice for this video was great. The mix of Minecraft and outer wilds and other music, just really sets the vibe for your video. It sets a hopeful tone for these games you’re hopeful for. I love it. Not to mention I just adore outer wilds lol I was so happy when I heard Timber Hearth 🤣
This is intriguing. I like survival games, so seeing the last vestiges of people still playing them, being nice and humble, is always nice to see. Aside from that one hacker being silly.
Man first class trouble being a dead game is surprising to me. It seems like yesterday I was watching General Sam playing the game and it looked like it would take off.
Last Oasis was such a fun game when it first came out and it gave me so much hope, but it fell to the same fate as most of these games. In this case it was the developers catering to their non-casual playerbase, which was mostly massive Chinese clans. By the time they made the game better it was way, way too late. I usually am not too affected by this happening, but when Bossa did it with Worlds Adrift that one hit hard. It is still one of the best open world sandbox type of game I have ever played. I think most people from that community still feel the same way to this day. The subreddit gets nostalgia posts all the time.
I really do understand the dude saying survival is too much in early rust. I couldnt handle being grieved 40 times in a row after finally getting something good.
I love the classic game soundtracks you're using as background music. I mever played Rust, but with the Morrowind music it immediately felt cozy and nostalgic to me
3 of 5 are games that i like and know about them smth. Though i used to play only Rust Legacy and i feel the same about PvP aspect. I remember how i was eager to experience the feeling of playing Legacy version again when new Rust constantly had updates and everybody was so much astonished with it. I just didn't understand them. I felt like the newer version was only about PvP. So i downloaded Legacy client version and even found some company there. I enjoyed it so much: surviving, knowing the aspects of the game ( including "navigation skill" which wasn't my strong side at all times), random meetings with nice guys and playing together for a couple of days, that feeling when you patiently help smn in game and teaching the basics. Ahh, man... And one more thing i love in old Rust is... OST in menu. It has that vibe of surviving. It's Perfect. As for the other 2: Deadside and Last Oasis, i used to watch them on TH-cam, especially Last Oasis. I liked the innovative idea about these wooden machines. The conception amused me. I genuinely miss Rust legacy so much. My first ever screenshot on Steam was of the basic little shelter you could build. Such a different game with such a more chill vibe than this current Rust. It's funny because I remember everyone saying "This is trash!!!" when the "new" Rust was in Alpha/Beta, and I never understood that. I knew they had something big planned, and oh boy did they. Remade the entire game from scratch.

Biggest problem of deadside is that we can only rent servers from one or two companies and not make our own dedicated servers. Servers cost around 20 euros a month and are limited in their admin capabilities, so you wil have a lot of problems with toxic people and cheaters of course. Developers take note, if you want your dead game to survive give us dedicated servers and mod support! Here's to hoping someday they will wake up.
20€/month for a server and having hard limitations on administration sounds like a recipe for disaster, no amount of mod support would even be able to top the importance of full control over them.
They recently posted news on steam about the server situation and admin capabilities being expanded, unless I'm very much mistaken - news was from last week sometime on steam. They also added Battleeye not too long ago - say what you like, it's better than Easy and better than NOTHING. It's a foreign game and it's pretty obvious that it's not being made for mass appeal - so Westerners and English speakers would do well just to stay away - there are other games to play if you want to hold the highest standards. It's hard for me to see all of this fire and brimstone over a game that's doing it's own thing - updates are slow but it never 'failed' anyone, it's inclusion here is to get Rye paid. Shame on Rye.
DEADSIDE, is a game made with performance in mind, yes a "Russian" survival game that by all accounts has not had an easy time at any point in it's life. Western Dad's flocked to it because it was new and casual, then canned the game immediately once it failed to keep adding/fixing things at a rate that would keep them entertained. Players cry "cheater" in every game these days so w/e honestly I think it's great to make a game that people can play, regardless of nationality or technological issues - pure and simple.
I would love deadside hosting tools. Would be nice for solo if that is your thing.
I try Deadside about a year ago I like some aspect of it but I find only 2 server with player on it and on both server their was people hacking so I just refund it, sad has I did like the gameplay

I played Fallen Earth back in the day. There was an American clan which was run by a bunch of ex military guys, so they ran the clan like an army company. I had to spend 4 hours one afternoon doing basic training in game to even start the application process to join them. Following orders, standing in line, doing drills, combat tactics and orders. It was hilarious, but loads of fun. The clan also absolutely dominated the entire map because they had so much discipline in combat, they won every battle they got in. good times.

The thing is, it's not dying or forgotten when they dedicate their lives to it. It's new, vibrant and has so much potential. Then they are invested, they've probably made a few close friends on the server as well. But then slowly the server dies. They don't want to lose their time in it (sunken cost fallacy) so they keep playing with their friends.

The games you just showed us looks like the poor and abandoned cities and villages around the world. The people are a small amount but when you come visit them they welcome you and give you stuff and they hope for you to come back and "visit" them.

I remember legacy Rust, I and 5 other friends played on one of the vanilla Rust server based in Virginia. Rust was a different vibe back then. It was easy to make new friends and alliances. The map was divided somewhat into valleys and I remember that all the bases in your valley had truces. The best thing I can remember was a war between most people on the server vs a clan that went by Nick Cage. No one seemed to ever get offline raided because they where having to much fun meeting others or having intense gun fights. Lastly I remember my friend group moving away from the game for a bit. Some time later we came back to Rust and that Virginia server where the players remember us instantly with greetings like "Welcome back lads!". Rust's community felt different back in those days.
Yeah these days people on their own or in small groups just rush material gathering to shoot up the tech tree then build a base that more than likely won't survive a night. If you found the right server in old Rust you'd have actual clans that put effort and creativity into their bases then go fight other clans in like actual battles and best of all it wasn't shoot on sifht for 99% of interactions.
Rust legacy was fr something special. I remember playing everyday on my family laptop when I was younger, meeting some of the strangest people and going on some of the weirdest adventures. Will always have a special spot in my heart

I’m glad you tested deadside. I used to be one of their developers. I was in charge of ui design as well as modelling and implementing boats and when I was finished, was told to work on some new map locations rather than ground vehicles. I quit last year with 2 other people when we had to force a bad economy change on the playerbase. We were told to ignore feedback and continue with the planned design. We joined with at least 3 other development companies to help with production and they all promptly pulled out not long after due to rude and questionable leadership. Development is slow because most of the workers are doing this as a side hustle after their real jobs. They only had the time and energy to do a few hours of development a day at best. Sometimes not doing any work on Deadside for days/weeks. The biggest downfall for the game is the final blueprint for release. 50 players max per server on a map that is large enough to host hundreds. We’ll never reach release but if we did, it would be too empty. The lead developer said no to nerfing the AI so no one is enjoying pve and pvp is not fun because of hackers which we had no plans to implement any anti-cheats against. Desdside has huge potential but the company needs to be sold to someone with better vision.
First Class trouble player here! The community is small but mainly nice. We have amazing people willing to help newer players and returning players about the game via a community made Wikipedia.
Now the game is in a rough state as the developer are unable to update the game as the publishers company closed and the parent company has given them no information. I hope to see this guy in its prime!

Man, Fallen Earth. I remember keeping up with news about that when it was in early development around ~2004, but had forgotten about it by the time it finally launched. Sad to see so many games with really good ideas just miss the mark or not get the love they deserve for whatever reason.
its supposed to be getting a huge update from Little Orbit who own it now, along with APB... but I don't think its ever going to happen. FE is great and has one of the best crafting systems in any MMO, but it died a death, its like playing a 2006 game sadly, but I have played it a lot
hello, i just wanted to tell you something about the deadside.
I really like the game, its like easier, more friendly dayz, with no network and D-sync problems. a majority people play on the unofficial servers, with active staff, because this game is literally full of cheaters, new anticheat helped but did not fix the problem.
i play on one unofficial EU server, managed by Russian admins, they grateful for whoever will join, with heartwarming welcome. trying to do their best to make it great place for everyone with some rules. this game have really great community, with friendly people. 2 times was shot by player and then, he just told me to meet him in safezone to give my gear back.
i believe this game is worth visiting. and now, they have bigger development team, so i believe they will update new game more frequently. and the last update was full of positive feedback.
I've played deadside since release, I have 2k+ hours but m99 ruined the game, the tapper end game meta is very lack luster in skill expression
I agree with this unfortunately the devs are not active they truly aren’t not enough content and updates took 4 years to get ability to prone I love the people u meet on it but it’s repetitive
Really enjoy being able to keep a base on a PVE and a PVP server at the same time and being able to hop back and forth. It needs weather, a land vehicle, and a way to light your base and it would be close to perfect imo.

was on 6 Rust servers and on each one there were at least 2 cheaters on dayZ server at least every 2nd server you choose has a cheater squad
At deadside, I haven't seen any cheaters since it was released, neither on the officials nor on the player servers
In comparison to 1000 hours of Rust, I've seen cheaters so often that it's enough for me
DayZ 2900 hours had my 2 servers on which I never had cheaters
1100 hours Deadside never saw a cheater and the servers were partially full
I played Last Oasis when it came out and it was such an amazing experience! I started out and met a random clan and joined them (PK/Radium Oath). This led to so many hours of battling different clans with probably over a hundred players involved in logistics, coordination and of course fighting.
There were so many stories formed in the weeks that i played the game, from goofing around with walkers to messing with streamers and the constant fighting of Chinese clans that were obviously cheating (*cough* iron introduction *cough*).
The fighting system was amazing it had a big learning curve but rewarded skill.
Its so sad that it has fallen because of bad decisions from the devs, but atleast the OG players get to keep the memories of this uniqe survival game.
No fucking way I have vivid memories of fighting these Chinese dudes with my clan 😂we had like 40 people rush their shit

I watched some of your old videos and they’re fine, but I really like this direction you’ve been going in for the last couple years. You’ve stumbled upon a really unique style and every video is great. Keep doing these.
I never knew I needed to see contents like this. The people that stayed loyal to these games are the nicest gamers that I've ever seen on the internet. You just helped them rekindle their passion for these games. I'm almost certain that they truly enjoyed every second of seeing a new player playing their game, asking for tutorials and explanation, this and that, despite it being "dead". I can relate to that feeling so much. Its just such a warm feeling to see.
Literally started last oasis the other day and was instantly hit with the realization that "this grind is not worth" before even getting through the tutorial.
Looks like that modded server is a whole different kind of experience. Very neat that it's a lil hidden. Community.
its crazy to me that all these people in these dead games genuinely love you coming into their world and help show it off. they are so nice which is a huge 180 from the a lot of the gaming communities now-a-days.
Last oasis was one of the greatest gaming experiences during its season 1 era, clans organizing and grouping against one another. The huge server wide battle against the streamer backed Uwu clan was fucking crazy. hundreds of thousands zerging versus a scattered and barely working together alliance between many other factions. seeing the map turn green day by day until 3 major clans managed to stop its advance was so awesome.
I bought this game on the day it released early access, it was easily one of my favorites instantly. Checking steam just now, over 1000 hours. I was in the battles against Uwu, epic. Many other battles too. Season 5 was the nail in the coffin. Damn shame, this game had potential.

The game pulls from the same influences. It was basically an attempt to make MMO Fallout but not Fallout. Loved it back in the day.

I played it back around 2015. The game feels clunky even by 2009 standards. It felt like playing an early PS2 game like Oni or X-Squad, which were extremely clunky. This prevented me from enjoying the game and I stopped playing after about an hour.

Last oasis was a game I saw on TH-cam in its early days, and bought and played on the morning of its ruin. I bought and played a game that no longer existed, and with no way to really play it offline or play the version I saw so long ago, I'm left with a game I so desperately want to enjoy, but can't because of the way the game changed right when I got it.
It takes hours to get your first walker in Season 5, it took an hour to get your first walker in Season 4.
You can store and protect your walkers off map when you want to log off in season 4, you need to play often and regularly to keep it for being torn to sheds overnight in Season 5. Season 5, feels like a job. You don't want to play, you have to play, so you can recover the progress you lost by sleeping.

Fallen Earth Classic is so good, It really is a close knit community and the systems are just so good. There is nothing else like it on the market and I wish there was, its just a diamond in the rough.
(A little more history on Last Oasis from an avid player) Not many people talk about Last Oasis, and I'm glad you covered it. I played it when it first came out... when it got a lot of traction from Twitch streamers like "Shroud" who of course is like a god-given gift for most games in terms of publicity. I remember there was an actual cultural war going on in the game between a U.S. clan named "UWU" with dozens of other clans supporting their attacks against multiple Chinese zergs that seemed endless. The combat in the game was so well done that if you had enough skill you were valued above all others and deemed a force of nature that most feared. You could make your name known just by your combative skills alone, and trust me the grappling hook mixed with the wingsuit gave you the best euphoric feeling you could ever feel, you generally felt like a vulture flying, scouting, looking for your next meal. I could go on and on about the amazing things you could do in this game. Same with what I think the dev's did to destroy it. in the end, this game truly will stay in my heart for well after I give up gaming, eventually, we all have to. Right? Well, this will most likely get consumed in the bottomless pit of comments. And I have gone off rambling too much. But I do have respect for the handful that still have faith in that dead.. deserted.. game.
I played Last Oasis for hours daily back in the initial release. I loved that game, got a friend into it and we roamed around looting and pvping. I remember the hype when they added meteors, and how amazing it felt to sneak into a crash site with crappy gear and make off with a bunch of raw iron. The sandwalker combat is something I'll always miss.

Man, Rust was wild. I remember it was a browser game and he was giving away free access if requested... and then when the new version released on steam he gave all "owners" even the ones who got it for free as a browser game , absolutely crazy.
Thebig thing with Deadside is this, they sold supporter packs to us for 10 bucks that came with extra storage at safezone, then later, gave it away to other players.
Then, they added camos, which once bought, we all found out the hard way, you have to have a base down with a bench to even use them.
They later added benches at the SZ, but you have to pay a HUGE fee per item to skin it with the skins you paid real money for.
The devs can suck it

I spent a great deal of time in Firefall and Wildstar. I loved Wildstar as it felt really different for me and was great during its peak. I didn't expect much of Firefall but I was surprised by how much it kept me coming back.

Last oasis is one of the best survival games I've played. Simply the ability to take your base and flee or store it when you log out is perfection in survival game genre. I played this before the latests blueprint nonsense when the game was already dying and I ended up making friends which I usually don't in survival games. We had blast.

Honestly, that's really cool that everyone (even that one hacker) is really friendly to newbies. It makes sense though, as they want more people to play the game so it gets the devs' attention to fix/update it, it doesn't shut down, or both. I don't really play a lot of survival games, but hey, if this video gets people interested in these games and everyone behaves (I.E. doesn't hack), it'll be good long term for the people that still play these old games.
I played Last oasis when it came out and it was like no other game I have ever played, in the best way. There was a huge player base and pvp felt so good and it was really rewarding , even being a solo character was really fun and possible, the amazing part about the game was being able to build different vehicles, packing the storage on them with supplies for runs and exploring, looting and running around the worlds and coming back to main base with your friends greeting you back… that game actually felt like you were in some kind of family… I wish it really thrived…sad to see games like that slowly die…

The multiplayer barely works, but I am liking the single player so far. Thanks.
i was there for launch of last oasis, it was a fail it took 2 weeks for them to get their servers working but once they did that the game was amazing loved it, you had to have your base on a walker that you could pack up and move... then they moved it to static bases i honestly dont know why they made that change, took the unique loved thing about the game and turned it into every other survival game mechanic

I miss season one of Last oasis, the clan battles and fighting for map tiles that weren’t even worth anything. The pvp was so fun, and seeing clans with 15-20 ships roll around with easily 100 or more people battle over tiles and honestly made me feel better then rust community’s ever did, I long for this game to come back and to reunite with players that shared the same dreams when this game first came out. 😢

This is intriguing. I like survival games, so seeing the last vestiges of people still playing them, being nice and humble, is always nice to see. Aside from that one hacker being silly.
Man first class trouble being a dead game is surprising to me. It seems like yesterday I was watching General Sam playing the game and it looked like it would take off.

Last Oasis was such a fun game when it first came out and it gave me so much hope, but it fell to the same fate as most of these games. In this case it was the developers catering to their non-casual playerbase, which was mostly massive Chinese clans. By the time they made the game better it was way, way too late.
I usually am not too affected by this happening, but when Bossa did it with Worlds Adrift that one hit hard. It is still one of the best open world sandbox type of game I have ever played. I think most people from that community still feel the same way to this day. The subreddit gets nostalgia posts all the time.
I really do understand the dude saying survival is too much in early rust. I couldnt handle being grieved 40 times in a row after finally getting something good.

Something truly wholesome about bonding with non-native English speaking players that are just happy to have someone to play with
3 of 5 are games that i like and know about them smth. Though i used to play only Rust Legacy and i feel the same about PvP aspect. I remember how i was eager to experience the feeling of playing Legacy version again when new Rust constantly had updates and everybody was so much astonished with it. I just didn't understand them. I felt like the newer version was only about PvP. So i downloaded Legacy client version and even found some company there. I enjoyed it so much: surviving, knowing the aspects of the game ( including "navigation skill" which wasn't my strong side at all times), random meetings with nice guys and playing together for a couple of days, that feeling when you patiently help smn in game and teaching the basics. Ahh, man... And one more thing i love in old Rust is... OST in menu. It has that vibe of surviving. It's Perfect.
As for the other 2: Deadside and Last Oasis, i used to watch them on TH-cam, especially Last Oasis. I liked the innovative idea about these wooden machines. The conception amused me.

I genuinely miss Rust legacy so much. My first ever screenshot on Steam was of the basic little shelter you could build. Such a different game with such a more chill vibe than this current Rust. It's funny because I remember everyone saying "This is trash!!!" when the "new" Rust was in Alpha/Beta, and I never understood that. I knew they had something big planned, and oh boy did they. Remade the entire game from scratch.
