    Sir your information in this series is extremely thorough and helpful. It was instrumental in me shopping for and purchasing a 2016 pikes peak. Thank you very much for the time and effort required to put all of this together. Wishing you more miles and smiles on your multi!

    Great video, really like your no-nonsense presenting style :) I've had my 2013 Multi 1200s for around the same length of time you've had yours, so it's going to be really interesting to watch the series. Came in at the front sprocket replacement episode, a mod I've been wanting to do for a while. Thanks for all the work you've put into this, really appreciate it!!

    Hello Carl what is your thought on comparing a 2022 BMW R1250 GS I purchased new last December and trading it in for a 2023 Ducati Multi Strada Rally version with all the bells and whistles. I have the rally version of the GS like you and like it but was considering the blind spot technology and the advanced cruise control on the Ducati. I know BMW just came out with the 1300 GS but will not be discounting anytime soon. I have just over 10,000 miles on the GS and can get a good deal on either the Ducati Pikes Peak or Rally at the end of season here in the Chicago area. I value your opinion and have added numerous accessories to the GS. I don’t do any off riding, I’m 65 and am afraid of breaking something and ending my riding career which I very much enjoy. So this would be for road touring and everyday riding occasionally having my wife on the back. I appreciate any feedback you might have.
    Thank you for any consideration Duane

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Duane
      Both are lovely bikes, but it depends on your riding style and requirements, i would probably go Pikes Peak if I was to choose but I tend to ride a little quicker than most.
      And I do love the kit and looks of the PP.
      Can you test ride both ?
      That would be the best way forward for you.
      Also I’m not sure if the ride height on the Rally version is higher than the PP, that might be a consideration for you too.
      Let me know which you decide on ….
      Lucky you to have two great bikes to choose between

    Great information, well done for this profound research! I have only one question regarding the difference of the suspension between the 2013 base and S models. You mentioned that the feel on the S model wasn't exactly what you expected and with the base (non electronic) version the "issue" didn't exist.
    Can you please please explain a little bit further the difference between the two in terms of actual parts that consists the suspension? Why the technician suggested to find a base version? Is there a more practical explanation considering, as far as I am concerned, that the only difference is the presence of the electronics?
    Thank you

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello G, I tested both versions and did not like the lack of feel and feedback from the front on the S model ( I tried two different S models) and I much preferred the feeling from the base version. Plus it’s fully manual so I was further able to set the bike up how I like it.
      The S was very popular and for most owners it’s brilliant and very capable.
      It is just personal preference

    Nice review. Good advices. I bought an Multi 1000 SDS two Years ago.
    I was keen on trying something different after 22 Years on my Softail.
    ( still got It). I am 197 cm tall, so the Multi was a perfect fit.
    The Ducati Is from 2006, 50 000 km on the meter, so fun to drive.
    And I was prepared for the fact that this Is an complicated MC.
    l have corrected some issues done by previous owners.

    Hi ! Your Multistrada is standard version 2013-2014. Front Suspension on your bike is gold coulor…I’m looking to buy exactly same bike but all standard version that I see from that year got silver forks. Is there some diffrenece betwen them ?
    Thank you !!

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, mine is the Manual suspension version not the skyhook, normally for 2013/14 the skyhook version is silver and almost all the bikes for sale have skyhook.
      You can easily tell by looking for the preload adjustment at the top of the forks.
      The skyhook version doesn’t have it.
      The Gold manual one does.
      Hope that helps you 👍

      @@justthewayitis I'm also a 6ft-er, I find it to be adequate, I can just about flat foot when tipped over slightly at the lights, there are various seat options for riders much shorter than us to make the bike manageable! I swear Carl this bike is driving me mad. Changed the fork seals and oil 5000 miles ago to find them blown again today. And it's losing petrol from the pipe under the tank on the top of the horizontal cylinder connecting to some sort of 3 way metal splitter. I've had it since January and though the bike is amazing to ride, I'm thinking of selling it.

      Hi Mike, good morning, sad to hear of your problems. It’s frustrating when problems keep happening when all we want to do is ride and enjoy so I understand your thoughts.

    Great video, looking forward to more, im in the market for a bike soon, thought long and hard about the multi, was put off though by horrendous reliability issues, screens failing etc, be intrested to hear your thoughts on this, and how you have found them. So far im looking at a super tenere 1200 which have supurb long term reliabilty, and maybe africa twin.

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Max, thank you for your comments, and I agree, deciding to become a Ducati owner is not a simple decision mainly because of, as you have highlighted… reliability issues. If you can perform your own repairs and maintenance and you move into Ducati ownership knowing about the potential problems that will occur… it can be an ok / nice experience. But it is still not like owning a well-built reliable Japanese Motorbike. I am currently working on the next two episodes…all about reliability issues. I hope you enjoy them. Carl

      @justthewayitis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Hitman and welcome to the channel. This is a great question...👍
      The 2010 MT is a great bike and most problems will by now be sorted by previous owners, if you can find a good well looked after one they offer a great deal of performance. But reliability is still a concern. I think if I was completely honest, as of now 2022, I would choose the Yamaha GT because your getting warranty and great value and a super capable bike.

      @justthewayitis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, you haven't mentioned condition or service history or wether its private or a dealer. If it's a dealer make sure you have some warranty.
      Most things are covered in the multistrada series on the channel, but by now most issues will have been resolved. Make sure EVERYTHING electrical works as it should and go for a least a 25 min ride to make sure the engine and gearbox work correctly when hot. Also the next valve check and adjustment is due at 30k, so calculate that service into your calculations. It's not cheap...

    Great info. I was in the market for a 700 /800 cc bike (think tenere 700, BMW f750/850gs), but I drove a 1200 2018 multistrada and got hooked. I'm from Portugal and I've seen some 2010 multistradas for sale (40-60k kms) as well as some from 2014 (same mileage, around 2000/3000 euros more expensive). What are some features I should look for when buying? Desmo service is one of the points to be aware of, right?

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The easiest ones to work on are the 2010 - 2014 versions, try to find one with a service history ideally Ducati service history. Remember.... at that age, condition is far more important than mileage. So, a dealer serviced 2012 model with 50K would be a better buy than say a 2014 version with only 30K and poor or no service history.
      The Desmo service is the big one, she will need belts and valve adjustment... this needs to be completed by someone who knows what they are doing. So, finding a Multi that has this service done is a good start. One last tip... try joining your local Ducati forum and ask for a recommend local independent mechanic. you can save a lot of money if you can find one in your area, and they might know someone who is selling their bike.
      Check the oil, make sure its clean and has no signs of water in it, take each bike for good road test… 30 mins minimum to make sure you get the bike HOT and there are no issues. Make sure all the electronics work, horn, heated grips and fuel gauge are common failures. I will be covering these in later videos… Have Fun

      @@justthewayitis I have realized the electronic complications way more than necessary and not really as comfortable as claimed. A well tuned and setup standard suspension is just as comfortable. Not that fond of the ride modes either, Enduro is just stiff and the bike doesn't handle well for me on gravel roads, I've tried, and urban is just mushy. Preload is the most useful of the shock settings in the DSS. And I don't mess with them very much once they are set. It's the luddite part of me that wants less complication. I didn't come to that conclusion until after riding it for a couple years.

    You made a mistake in your testing of the Sky hook suspension system. The mistake you made is that the system learns how you ride and adjusts over a period of time. You most likely didnt ride far enough to allow it to “learn” your riding to settle in on its settings. They do feel a little off when you first ride one until it adjusts to your methods of riding.

    • @justthewayitis

      I do understand your comment, but for me at least it's more about the feeling of connection between the tyre and road which I found lacking with the skyhook system, other owners also feel the same. I do think that the newer versions are much better and this is something that is constantly improving. Carl

    Hi Carl I’ve recently purchased a 2014 multi and stumbled across your channel. Brilliant! But I must say makes me slightly concerned regarding issues. I have subscribed because you are very good at explaining things so will deffo be taking your advice should I encounter issues. You can see my bike over on my channel its the 2014 with the skyhook suspension. Thankyou 👍

      Hello, although you are subscribed I cant see your channel and look at your Multi. it might be that you have ticked the ' remain anonymous' option which is why I can't see you or your channel. But... dont worry... you are going to have a lot of fun on your 2014 multi. I smile every time I leave the house...yes you might have an issue or two but overall it's a great bike. I have a couple of episodes coming up over the next few weeks that you and your 2014 might like. Gearing change and exhaust value remove... which make a HUGE difference. Carl

      @@justthewayitis Danke. Gruss aus den schönen Cotswolds. Übrigens: Ich musste gerade an meiner 2011er, standart MTS (15.000 mls on it) mit Marzocchi Gabel, die Simmeringe austauschen. Die rechte Seite war undicht. Kommt also auch vor. Ich habe einen Kit von All Ball Racing(56-145) für 22 quid gekauft, der super funktioniert.

    Ducati is really heading down a terrible path. Ducati IS L-twin and when they part with that engine it is just enough for me. I know that Iwill never buy a new Ducati again. Thankfully I still have a low milage Multistrada 1200s.

      Hello and welcome, I think your not the only owner to think this. As much as I enjoyed my test of the V4S I was disappointed with a couple of things and the engine was the main one. It does not sound anything like the lovely L twin and for me was missing that low down grunt I have come to love. I actually did think... what would it have been like with the original L twin engine?.
      But many new owners seem very happy with the new version. Best wishes Carl

Im not a professional and I make these episodes to help and support other multistrada owners, and let's not forget the whole series is free....I do the best I can. Carl
