- Tana and her daughter are on an adventure that they will never forget. DIY Brown Bear Hunt, all Alone in the Alaskan wilderness. This is Julia's first big game animal. All bear hunting in the United States is closely regulated and monitored by Wildlife Officials. They allow a small percentage of bears to be harvested in this area each year for the purpose of predator management. @Rachel Anderson well I'd say to keep the population in check for one. For 2 the amount of money hunters spend is what keeps these animals and locations funded!! Billions of dollars a year for research!! You have no idea what you're talking about, I can see how some can't understand this, you love animals. But guess what I'm willing to bet that hunters actually love animals and nature MORE THEN YOU!!! Hard to understand I know, but it's true.

Great job young lady! I went on my first brown bear hunt on the peninsula when I was 16 with my dad. I'm 64 now, this sure brought back a lot of memories. I lived up there for 25 years.... Love you guys videos.

Congrats little one,,,i Love hunting the peninsula,,,,BEAR CITY, i was on a solo hunt in 2007, my first time in was 1991, i prefer to hunt the fall, anyway in 2007 i was down the beach a mile or so,, Wind Blowing like crazy, Raining hard and i was waiting for this bear to come out of a ditch to give me the shot, but it was getting dark quick,, finally he came out, but all he gave me was the butt shot,,, say what you want, a close range butt shot is LETHAL,, i dropped him in his tracks, i went up to check him out, he was laying like he was sleeping, it was now dark, so i took off for camp, i will skin him in the morning,,, Got up and took off down the beach,, right away i see 2 Wolf Tracks and a Big Bear track, all 3 going down the beach toward my Bear, the Bear turned and went up a river, the wolves stayed on course toward my Bear, I got a Bad Feeling,, sure enough i see Ravens darting down ahead,, OH NO,, i started running toward my Bear, i start seeing FUR, OH NO,,,,,,Yep they got him,, they couldnt roll him over to get to the belly, so they chewed a hole about 2 feet wide right in the middle of his back,,,,I BE PISSED NOW,, i looked around for them and spotted them,, way up on the mountain side,, I dont care how far they are, i'm throwing some lead at there butts, I fired off a 338 round, the big white one did a back flip,, yee haww, I nailed his butt,, i think my bullett landed right in front of his nose and he back flipped, NO blood, No white wolf and you could see good up there,,,,,i ended up doing a half mount,, lots of wolves down there,, they went right for the heart and Liver, that was all they ate,,, i had a choice this year, Peninsula or Brooks Range,???, HARD CHOICE,,, but i choose the Brooks,,,, you cant lose either way,,,,GOOD LUCK all Bear Hunters this year,, 2021,, go get em
Me and my Buddy were in the Brooks last Year,,,, 12 days out of a 13 day hunt,,,RAIN,,,WIND,,COLD,,,RAIN,,WIND,,,COLD for 12 DAYS,,, worst damn weather i ever had on a hunt,,,,But we still had a BLAST,, we saw 23 Grizz in 13 days,,,15 were sow;s and cubs,, BUT we saw HUGE Black Grizz and a HUGE white Grizz,,, no luck getting to them,,,Maybe, Thats why i'm going back,, my buddy spotted the white Grizz, i said that aint no Grizz, thats a Dall Sheep or a Polar Bear, you should have seen the color on this Bear,,WOW, i grabbed my binocs and Looked,,, Holy Cow, you are Right, thats a Grizz but it looks like a HUGE Polar Bear,, NOT KIDDING,,WOW what a Bear,,, we were in the mess hall at 2.30 pm, we see i Caribou hauling butt coming down a Mountain,, Look and see whats chasing Her,,,,, we didnt see nothing,,, the Caribou comes on down the mountain wide Open, i looked again behind her, a Big Black Wolf running wide open behind her a good 500 yards,,, we watched that wolf close the gap, they came off the mountain and hit the tundra, the wolf is now a 100 yards behind her,,, we lost sight when they hit the timber and River,, throw on them waders and Lets Go,,, took us a hour and 20 minutes to make it down there,, i see something come around the bend in the river,,, rifle to shoulder, KA-POW,,, its the Black wolf with a whole Back Caribou leg in its mouth,, that wolf killed and ate that caribou in a hour and 20 minutes,, my Bush pilot said, it was a female by the way, but he said she was weening pups now and was taking the leg back to them,,,we did see just other caribou legs in our area and i ask, where's the rest of the bones ?? Now I know,, me and Scotty are 3 for 3 on Wolf in Brooks, Not Bad ayyyyy ???
If you hunt Alaska,, all the time is PRIME time,,,be looking ALL the time
And, spend as much time as you can,, this year we up'd it up to 18 days,,,,,,see what i do when bad weather clobbered us last year ? I go from 13 to 18,, how you like That ?? You are really risking it on 7 day hunt or shorter,,,,,bad weather can ruin a 7 day hunt,,make it at least 10 if you can,, and short hunts will wear you out to fast,, you have a short time, so you go like the wind, until you run out of wind, then you are screwed,, if ya gonna do it, do it Right, hunt as many days as your Wife will let you, i think 18 is all she will give me, before i get the divorce papers,, Thanks Honey, I Love you too
