    Underteering can be prevented using the Scandinavian flick or braking while turning the wheel just a little, way before entering the curve, that way the front end of the car is prepared to enter the curve. It depends on the timing of the maneuver which is gets better with training. Oversteering can be prevented by using left foot braking while throttling (on pedals) and slightly braking while not fully pushing the throttle (on a gamepad).

    I got so used to driving AWD cars and being able to throw them into the corners and power out of them. but with RWD this just didn’t work and id always end up going backwards. Took me to watch this to realise my mistake. I just needed to change my style depending on the drivetrain. This should have been obvious. But it wasn’t 🤣

    • @Luis-st4gq

      My first car in the game was FWD, then I test drove the Ford MK II, which was RWD and tried driving the same way and felt like the thing was trying to kill met at every turn. Lol. After a couple of test drives I figured out you have to really feather the throttle, way more than in other racing games like Gran Turismo. Once it clicks, though, RWD is a blast!

    This game is so hard! What puts me off is there is no lobbies where we can race one after the other in a rally stage with like a 10 sec gap and ghosting through each other. That would make it so much better, like project cars 2 lobbies... Anyone think that's a good idea?

    • @kowalski3892

    • @spinyslasher6586

      540° is optimum, modern rally cars all use 540° rotation, and it doesn't affect classic cars as much.

    Just a question: I can see he's using a sequential stick for both a new car, which has a sequential gearbox, and an old car, which uses H pattern shifting. From that, I assume you can use it for both types. From the video, I also assume you don't have to use the clutch pedal when shifting using the sequential stick, even in older cars which have an H pattern. Is that right?
    So, is the sequential stick the right choice for someone who wants to play with all the cars that Dirt Rally and Dirt Rally 2.0 offer? Should I avoid the H pattern shifters? And do I have to get both a sequential and an H pattern shifter for the most realistic experience with every car?
    I'm thinking of getting a steering wheel setup to play on instead of a keyboard, so I need to know what to look for.

      Jon Jones' Dealer I enjoy playing racing games with a gamepad, I don’t have a wheel but it doesn’t bother me too much. Online of course there’s no hope going up against wheel users and controlling oversteer is tricky but other than that it’s still very enjoyable to me

      @@easley421 In PCars 2 on the PS4 it shows the type of input used, controller or wheel, and quite a few really good times & record times were set with a controller. I agree with the immersive feeling you get and wheels being superior in that sense, but if you're fast, you're fast! If you don't have any driving skills or knowledge it won't matter if you have a wheel or not especially in Dirt Rally 2.0 which has one of the best gamepad setups out of any other racing game

      i sim race how i drive irl. i will learn left foot braking eventually, but for now im happy driving as is. im not a very good sim racer, but for me its more about fun than trying to be particularly competitive etc. i must admit it does mean in circuit racing i have to keep my distance from other cars more than i could with left foot braking. and even so i still end up rear ending the odd car, lol. (i try not to online, as i want to be courteous, but against ai... im not too fussed.)

    • @fujiwaraheiko279
      @fujiwaraheiko279 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What about the "left foot braking" which is very close to trailbraking? You are in the middle of a corner (or even in the last 1/3 of the corner), you are already slightly on the throttle and you get a little bit of understeer, just very little. -What happens if you press the brake a tiny bit while you stay on the throttle?
      You car should weight shift a little bit to the front and give you that fly fart extra grip that you need on the front.
      Yes, you use the brake, so you are slowing down, basically the same like if you would just lift the throttleto get out of the understeering. But staying on the throttle gives you a more instant reaction when you are accelerating (depending on the car it will stay higher in boost and so on). Small things that gain a tenth here and there.

      @@fujiwaraheiko279 to me, that is definitely advanced driving. i can understand how it could help, but im sure at first i would do it all wrong. its frustrating learning new things. i will probably get around to it someday. i can definitely see there are many advantages to left foot braking.

    • @shredd5705
      @shredd5705 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Something he didn't mention, is how left foot braking is the only way to keep a turbo spooled up, while still braking. What you do is press throttle and brake simultaneously, to keep the turbo needle up, but you can still reduce some speed. That's how it works IRL anyway, with a turbo car

    • @hereslookingatyoukid
      @hereslookingatyoukid 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You posted this two months ago ik, but not all surfaces react the same, and not all tires react the same against all surfaces. The game does feature track degredation (which obviously will affect grip both negatively and positively) and many different types of gravel and pavement along with 4 different tire compounds.. so what you're saying is kind of silly imho
