The was absolutely “No Scary Air Raid”!
Deserves a thumbs down for clickbaiting.
Brings back some memories.
Brilliant video. There is nothing wrong with the music, it was quite good, but for atmospherics, just the aircraft sound was best. Maybe it had to do with concealing the radio chatter, in which case that is understandable.
American forces still formidable. American young men and women on front lines
, bless you!
Wow that air raid was so scary ! Sorry I missed it. :O)
Superbe, merci beaucoup.
Water injection is no longer used. Only the latest model of the B-52, the B-52H, is currently in use. That model uses newer, more powerful, engines that don't need the extra thrust that water injection provided the older models.
Thanks y’all. Much appreciated 🇺🇸🤙🏻
I didn't see one piece of ordinance dropped.
... ...hello, I am from Colombia and I consider myself passionate about aviation, in particular towards the beautiful, powerful, versatile and legendary B52, it is for me the best in design and performance, I am absorbed by contemplating its complicated cockpit.. ahh... the best... (it's like contemplating the naked body of miss universe in front of my eyes)... greetings and... "good winds"...👍👍👍👍👍👍 ......
Nice video thanks
That was me 47 years ago with the 92nd BW(H) and then the 93rd BW(H).
They look so young to me now.
That was me 54 years ago. 379 BW Wurtsmith 1970-1975
Those are not JDAMs. Do your research
The statement at 4:50 is incorrect. The G-model was the last to use water injection. The H-model has never had water injection.
Also, at 6:27, "Tactical Air-to-Air Refueling" (TAAR) is not a term that's used, it's "Air-to-Air Refueling" (AAR).
Thank you Shawn, the J-57 engine in the g model was the last to use water injection. The TF-33 didnt use water and the black smoke on take off is because of the make up of the JP-8 fuel. I hate it when documentaries cant do the research to give the correct information. I actually worked on that very B-52 stationed at Minot during Desert Storm.
@@jeffwaldrop6005, when were you stationed at Minot? I was a BUFF EWO and was stationed there '94'-96 (was at Fairchild '90-'94).
We called Inflight Refueling "IFR" during the 80s.
@@jeffwaldrop6005 The black smoke from the BUFF's engines is actually because it is a very old design and the older designs had inefficient burning. The black smoke is an incomplete fuel burn. Newer engines run hotter and with closer tolerances for more efficient fuel burn.
JP-8 fuel is very similar to civilian Jet-A fuel. JP-8 is equivalent to Jet-A1 fuel. The old JP-4 fuel was 50% kerosene and 50% gasoline. Very dangerous stuff.
@@rael5469, we did in the '90s as well, but I didn't want to confuse the issue with "instrument flight rules"! :P
Griffiss AFB in Rome, NY was home to the 416th Bombardment Wing which flew the H models. They were the first SAC squadron to field TLAM cruise missiles. There was always four BUFFs fully loaded on alert. This video mentions CART startups vs APU. My understanding is that the alert BUFFs were on a 10 minute alert. It’s was awesome growing up in the Mohawk Valley and having BUFFs, KC135s, F106 (49th TFS) and A10s (The Boys From Syracuse, before a dike commander changed it to the People from Syracuse) flying around on short approach. Griffiss has a 12,000 foot runway and was an alternate landing site for space shuttles.
8:55 What the red ribbon still hanging from front landing gear bay ?
ERROR AT 13:45 The Globemaster has ~20,900 CUBIC feet of stores. It does NOT have 20,900 SQUARE feet.
Googling says the bay is 88 feet long by 18 feet wide. That corresponds to 1,584 SQUARE feet. It is 12.3 feet tall, which implies it's volume is 19,483 CUBIC feet, with perhaps another 1,400 cubic feet of irregular shaped space.
Bomb painted Blue and Mark „Empty“. What an horrible Airstrike.
Which military organisation has the sharp, blue & white striped uniforms seen at 13:43? Very dapper.
everything about our military is awe inspiring to me.
@6:05 .... check out the upward angle of those f-16s ... trying to fly slow with the B-52
Also the B-52 is about to be majorly overhauled. They took a B-52H fuselage (meaning no wings) & moved it from the boneyard to Boeing's plant in CA. It will be used to redo the entire cockpit as a glass cockpit with touch screens. The radar is being replaced with a modified F-18E/F radar along with part of the Growler Electronic Warfare systems. The engines are all being replaced with the military version of the current Rolls Royce commercial aircraft engine, which increases the range at least 30%, uses less fuel & provides significantly more thrust. The engines also will require no maintenance. The cheeks on the front are being removed & a new LINK 16, SATCOM, GPS, Starshield (the military version of Starlink) are being integrated on the spine. The cables & pulleys currently used to control the plane are being ripped out & completely replaced with a fiber optic fly-by-wire system with triple redundancy. When finished the 68 B-52H will be B-52I.
Delivering some freedom
You commented that the reserve chute is carried on the back of the jumper, while the main chute is in front of the jumper. That is incorrect. The reserve chute is carried on the front of the jumper. That way, if it needs to be deployed, the jumper pulls the handle, and begins to quickly spill the reserve out its pack with his hands. The main chute is on the back, the jumper jumps with his/chin pointed down. This prevents the chute from snagging the helmet and tearing it, and possibly the head, off the jumper.
The navigator is responsible for course and timing! Bomb targets are down to the minute, so as not to interfere with other sorties. (other bombers, fighters, and reconnaissance aircraft.)
It's not actually a "water mixture". It's just de-mineralized water. (Former KC-135 Crew Chief that shuddered when he saw those starter carts).
I miss seeing the BUFF & the WARTHOG as I been assigned to USAF bases that had both(separately) My SAC base had the “D” model B-52s which had a rear gunner actually in a separate compartment, I always thought that was cool! The “gunners”, not so much!GO USAF🇺🇸🇺🇸

7:24 Uh oh. There's a little surprise for the enemy. An AIM-9 Sidewinder air to air missile on the ground attack A-10 Warthog.
What are those birds at 6:12 ?
Mirage 2000 at 6:12 and F-16s at 6:18.
@@fun3721 Wow! I couldn't get a fix on them (Mirage's). Thanks, good buddy!
You would think by now that they would have engineered quicker and easier way to load munitions on planes. It just seems like a very cumbersome process.
The black smoke is because the TF-33 engine is an old design and the old designs had inefficient fuel burn. The black smoke results from incomplete fuel burn. The new engines for the B-52K model should be WAY less smoky. A dramatic difference.
B52 J
@@crewguy620 B-52K. The J will be an avionics upgrade and it could change to K when they get the new powerplants.
From "The War Zone."
"The Air Force is still unsure of exactly when and how it will redesignate the remaining B-52s once they begin receiving various upgrades. The service believes that the addition of the AN/APG-79 radars will require major changes to existing operator and maintenance manuals, which could immediately prompt a need for a new designation, likely B-52J. However, bombers with new radars are expected to start returning to service before any of them get the engine upgrades, which may then similarly demand a second redesignation. If that happens, the final upgraded configuration could end up being referred to as B-52K."

So where were the bombs dropped ? never saw it
Doesn’t matter. They were blue inert bombs. They just hit the dirt
@@jimsteinway695yeah, though they do normally have replaceable report charge to scatter some dust for debrief purposes. (just makes them easier to see on impact) sidenote, the AOA of the viper escorts is pretty funny.
@@idkjames yea I’m used to seeing them. I worked on the Harrier program for 7 years. The little bdu 25s we used Had white smoke? But we were doing close air support bomb in dive toss. I don’t think buffs use that mode 🤣

Water Augmentation has nothing to do with the black smoke! The B52H, which is the only model in service, does not have water injection. Too many stupid errors on your vids to take them seriously.
