You have such a talent to skip unimportant or overwhelming information and give us the right metaphor to understand the principles... You are such a gifted teacher and i cant express enough how grateful i am for what you do. 🙏 Wish you all the best in every part of your life.
Wow my entire first month of high school chemistry teaching sessions in less than 20 minutes. Thank you so much, very well explained without becoming tedious and boring.
I last took a Chemistry class in my sophomore year of high school. Now I'm in my first year of college as a nursing student. This video helped me refresh all of the information I learned in Chemistry in 20 minutes rather than the entire year my teachers took, and it was also explained the information in a much better way. Now I am confident that I am ready for my Chemistry and Human Anatomy class in college with both start off with the basics of Chemistry. Thank you, ThePenguinProf, you made Chemistry fun to learn!
I'm out here trying to learn university level chemistry and i haven't done chem since grade 10 :(( this video did wonders to try to get my head in the game, thanks Prof, Penguin!
Yeah I am doing community college classes in high school to boost myself in college and I feel very ignorant in my chemistry class because everyone else seems to know all these terms already and I am just confused but I am determined to learn it and just take notes on EVERYTHING.
I am 30 and planning to go back to school. This was the best video tutorial I've ever watched since I start reviewing. Thank you so much for making these videos. God speed.
When I took chemistry 10 years ago in high school I didn't understand anything, but thanks to videos like this it's much easier to learn and enjoyable as well.
This is such a cool idea! I'm a chemistry prof in the US working on a similar approach on my channel. I like breaking down the concepts by videos, and giving an introduction to a topic (e.g., inductive effects on acidity) in 5 min or less!
I would have never imagined how much TH-cam would change my life and career. If you love making videos (and editing!) than absolutely go for it. Your students will think you're a rockstar! All the best to you!
WOW! I was able to get through Chemistry 1 and I learned more on this video then the entire 16 weeks of lecture. I am a visual learner.. Thanks for the help!
OMG Thank you SO much. I love everything about this video. You have taught me 18 minutes what my teacher failed to teach me in 5.5 hrs. YOU ARE A LEGEND.
I am going to do my huge Chemistry exam next month, thinking i am going to fail, but this video actually gives me hope! Thank you so much for explaining this the way you did :) especially keeping it interesting by using images, here and there.
This is just great! In 18 minutes I understood what I didn't in highschool. The future of education is online, and thanks to people like you, Penguin Prof. Cheers :)
This made me so excited about learning chemistry because I never really had a chance since I dropped out of high school. Thank you! Definitely going to (try to) watch all the parts of the series!
I have struggled with chem for so long because I didn't understand what I was supposed to do with the atoms or why they were bonding, this as just solved 4 years of distress. Thank you so much for posting this video I cannot express how much it helped!!!
As someone who is attempting to get back into school after dropping out of college 3 years ago, this video has helped me greatly understand the basics in chemistry, which I had no prior knowledge of. Thank you making this and hope with these videos I will pass my admission test without any struggles.
Wow I can't thank you enough for making these lessons available . You have an amazing gift of teaching and I truly enjoyed the idea of studying chemistry now. Thank you.
Hi Dr. Pennington, you were my marine biology instructor at SWC in 1999. We went whale watching, visited Sea World, where you arranged a close encounter with penguins (of course!) and the Chula Vista Nature Center on E St. Now I enjoy your video lectures with my daughter as she prepares for her GCSE's in England. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and love of science.
OMG... HELLO!!! Thank you for watching and sharing this! You made my day! Can you believe how much technology in education has changed since then? I don't think the college had e-mail in '99. All the best to you and your daughter! Stay safe and healthy during these crazy times...
This was so well presented. I had not studied chemistry in nearly thirty years, and now I am trying to learn as much about it as possible. Your video really helped. Thank you.
You present this with excellent depth. I have a few questions: 1) So if an electron IS the orbital, then you're really talking about what a quantum particle is and how we think about it at a "macro" scale. It's not a thing LIKE an atom, because the quantum world is fundamentally about "clouds" of potential interactions. Is this a reasonable line of thinking? 2) How do electrons relate to the number of protons? 2) If number of protons defines the atom, that implies something about charge; does charge govern atomic interactions? does that mean that what an element REALLY is is a thing defined only in terms of how it potentially can interact with other elements?

I didn't understood a single thing in chemistry in school because i spent my middle school years in quarantine. Your video helped me so much to learn the basics in a simpler and much easier way! I'll be preparing for the medical entrance exam, the 5th hardest exam in india and sucking at chemistry is not gonna be a problem because I've already found your channel!!! Sending my best wishes to you mam!
I'm so glad we have technology to keep us informed and educated. We thoroughly enjoy your lively lectures and we use them to complement her coursework. It's now more handy than ever since her school is closed and her teachers have only assigned pieces of work without a lecture. Thank you and keep up the excellent work you do.
Thank you so very much - I am so glad you find my videos helpful. These are challenging times and I'm glad to play even a small role in making someone's life a little easier. Best of luck to you!

I just want you to know that I'm currently enrolled in a chemistry class and your video has helped understand so much in 18 minutes than my teacher has tried to teach me in a couple months. Thank you so much this video was very helpful. Do you have a part 2?
I like learning science, but my mind doesn't kinda fit with chemistry subjects. when I learn about chemistry, I forget everything I've learned.
