Love videos like this, especially from other countries, it's so interesting to see what is common somewhere else plus no one ever talks about the super cheap brands and I'm always curious.. even though I know it's probably not something I'm going to actually want to use it still nags at me... maybe they are amazing unicorns? It could happen lol. I've done quite a bit of work with Crayola, and the trick with the cheap pencils is layers. Start with the lightest color even if it's white.. you need that layer under the next ones so they don't "grab" the paper.... then go from light to dark covering the entire object with each successive color only leaving out areas that are lighter. So the middle shades go over the dark too. Then once you get the dark down, go back up in colors until you finish with the lightest again. Give the dark one more coat at the very end. All very light layers, it's natural to push hard but it doesn't help at all just leaves dark strokes that won't blend out... also your hands will thank you if you just keep layering vs trying to push out the pigment. You can achieve gorgeous blends and saturated color... but it takes forever to do it. Some people actually enjoy the process though and find it very relaxing and meditative.

I love watching these type of videos. They are quite fun to watch :) I agree, those Staedtler Noris are horrible. I have a box that I got on clearance for under $2.00 and am glad I didn't pay more or them. I do like the pentel. I don't have the bics.

This was very interesting, thanks for comparing. Glad it's not just me who finds those Noris coloured pencils awful!
In terms of other cheap coloured pencils, I really want to recommend the WH Smith Let's Create ones. They're the super cheap kids ones, but colour really nicely with lovely vibrant colours. They also do a 100 set, which whilst over a fiver, expands the colour range nicely.
The Works Boldmere coloured pencils are also really good, although they're exactly a fiver, so not sure if they count. It's the 30 set in the blue and brown tin, and actually really good quality. The shape and colour size is similar to a Polychromo, so nice and thick, and yet the laydown is really smooth and soft, with lovley vibrant colours. It's a shame they don't make more than 30. But for a penny more than the allowed amount for the vidoe, I highly recommend them.

Great video. I bought crayolas specifically to color on the Amazon paper and I think they work better than any of my expensive pencils on that paper. Other papers it just depends... But now you make me want to go to the store and try some of the cheaper brands. I especially want to try craZ art pencils. I am off to watch some reviews about them .. 👍😀👽🖖

I had the 100 pack of both Crayola and Crazart.. they are hit or miss, both of them. Some colors are identical, some different.. some scratchy, some softer.. some more or less pigmented. If you had the patience you would probably be best off going through them both and picking out the best of the bunch for a single set.

Two matters arise from this Lily, firstly no child / adult should have to colour with a pencil that is weak in its pigment, frustration will soon set in. Wax crayons have always been popular with young children because of the amount of colour they put down on the paper. Secondly as an adult you should / must look at reviews before buying any adult colouring product due to the quality of paper and pencils / pens these vary from the very poor to outstanding art paper. In fact I would say that adult colouring is probably the only hobby where you should start by watching review videos.

I've seen an European brand called Kores Kolores that is actually really nice.. a lot like Ergosoft but softer. I'm not sure what they cost in the UK but I've been told they are cheap. I've considered buying some, they have multiple sets of pastels and regular colors for a total of 74 available... but I have to have them shipped overseas which seems ridiculous for a drugstore pencil lol so I haven't done it yet.
