I have said it before- I really, truly believe that VoicePlay are revolutionizing contemporary a cappella. They are so creative and their independence lets them be truly unfettered by the restraints a label or manager would likely place upon them. I don't think I've ever seen a vocal group do the things that VoicePlay are doing recently, and I find that immensely exciting. They really are one of the best things out there currently, and I wish they were more recognized for what they bring to modern music.
Flummoxed Mortius is my favorite way to start my day. 😅 The Eli arrangement that leaps to mind is Eleanor Rigby. I'm sure there are a few others. And we should expect more from him in the rotation. Help keep Geoff and Layne from burnout. They're all incredibly talented.
Makes you feel like you're crossing the event horizon of a black hole at the beginning. and the silence at the end is soooooo quiet!!! They outdid themselves...again! New favorite! Great reaction as always!
Old lady here, did not have a clue what I was getting into. It is amazing, really amazing. I loved the outro, they used the karaoke track. Hearing the harmony and the beatboxing without the lead shows the fantastic intricacies of the arrangement.
@Mortius I would have thought that, by now, you would have known better than to do VoicePlay as your first reaction of the day! LOL! I do have to say, though, I thoroughly enjoy your pure, unanalytical, reactions. They are so much fun. You may want to consider how @Peter Barber does his reactions and do two run throughs of each song. The first you just listen and give a pure reaction, pausing only for shock and recovery, then you go back a second time to analyze. This would give your brain a chance to wrap itself around what you're listening to, especially if it's the first reaction of the day and doubly especially if it's VoicePlay. I know that would make for longer videos, which turns into longer recording sessions, which you're trying to avoid, but it might be worth it. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that I would totally watch longer Mortius videos, especially if it means I get your pure reaction and an even more comprehensive analysis after the fact.
lol, you missed a really awesome Layne moment. When they give the lead to Anthony the second time, the last word he sings there is “snake”. Watch/listen to Layne doing a snake.
Watching Mortiushaving a brain glitch fits the cyberpunk aesthetic. Quick, someone download the newest patch into his implants. Eli hasn't arranged too many songs (Elenor Rigby, Creep, now this. Is there a 4th?) but with this one he shows that his chops can match Geoff and Layne. With Layne's help, sure, but that's what friends are for.
I remember when Sound Garden released this song in 1994, yes it is 90s grunge lol. Love what VoicePlay did with it 8:57 That is the 90s grunge guitar sound and i love that they used it
The more I listen to this the more I hear. The look on your face and your reaction is how it hits. You need to hear it way more times to catch even a fraction. Nice one.
I don’t always like their songs right out of the gate mostly because some of the songs I’m not familiar with, but to date, every time I re-listen thru the filter of various analysts, I end up liking and appreciating what they did. Black Hole Sun was definitely not one of my favs, but this is my second listen, and I’m starting to like it more. Breaking it down really helps me appreciate what they do all the more. Thanks.
Another great reaction. You know what would be an even greater reaction? Mortius and DAN VASC. I am jonesing hard for some mortise and Dan vasc. Kiss From a Rose, is two songs from Phantom he has one from the greatest showman and his cover of Bohemian Rhapsody really shows off his talent and personality. He also does the cover of Nessun Dorma
Your reaction was priceless! Much enjoyed watching you get discombobulated over this phenomenally brilliant cover of an iconic song! Voice Play really topped their game with this one!
As a Patron ($2 level), mp3 tracks are available. The karaoke tracks at the $5 level. Both worth it. I am in an area where Wi-Fi goes out all the time so we’ll frequently download my favorites so that I can listen to music even when the stupid phones aren’t working.
This is such a great arrangement! I like that Eli is getting to do this more. And this is another one of those Voiceplay ear worms for me. Loved this reaction!! (BTW, you haven’t done Dimash in a while. He has a new one-When I’ve Got You-very different from his usual and I’d love to hear your take on it.)
Yay, your back doing another Voiceplay cover reaction. I love your reactions and how you break the video down. Amazing music cover by Voiceplay of Black hole sun by Soundgarden. It's an amazing video ❤
It's so great to see Voiceplay using new techniques and styles on an almost regular basis with so incredible outcome. Love it and your reaction as always 🤩🤩🤩
Hola desde Argentina... Son tan fenomenales que se te olvida que es A CAPELLA!!!! Increibles... Verdad? Adoré tu reacción como siempre!... Un abrazo a la distancia 😊
I've been enjoying your reactions for a while, but just subscribed. This is my new favorite of Voiceplay. It was insanely good! Gives me chills every time I watch it!!
Sometimes you learn wonderful things watching Mortius videos... sometimes you watch a man have a meltdown and fall into his green screen. Either way, it is always a good time!
When the original of this song came out, for me, it was meh, didn't love it, didn't hate it either. I listened to VP's version, a little above meh. I listened with you, and you helped me really hear it. Thanks. It's definitely not meh.
Eli (and Layne) killed this arrangement in the *best* way possible. Listen, I like the original. Chris Cornell was a great singer. But when I hear Eli sing "No one sings like you anymore" I get chills thinking about all of the great talents we've lost just in my lifetime (Freddie Mercury, Kurt Cobain, Selena, MJ, Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston, Prince, Tina Turner, Aretha, Bowie) including Chris Cornell himself. You can hear and see the emotion in Eli when he sings it, and I just don't get the same thing from the original. VoicePlay's version is what I'm gonna listen to if I want to stand on my roof and scream into the void. Soundgarden is what I listen to when I want to reminisce about life before I had the internet.
Listen to the original. Please. This cover IS amazing, but please give the greatest rock singer of our age the benefit of the doubt and at least listen to Cornell's version. I play Cyberpunk 2077 and I AM old, but I'm a gamer, etc., etc..... The dude singing is incredible. Just LISTEN to the original. All I'm saying. th-cam.com/video/3mbBbFH9fAg/w-d-xo.html
VoicePlay is incredible and I love all of their insane vocal talent. However, please don't touch Soundgarden again. That was an atrocious disfiguration of an amazing song that is primarily built upon an incredibly unique all time great vocalist that is very hard to replicate and it hurt my soul listening to them try...
Medic! Medic! Is there a doctor in the house? We have another broken Mortius.
I'm pretty sure they did this in honor of the recent total solar eclipse, of which I totally approve.

Geoff is now an electric dragon!!!
That C#1 though
VoicePlay makes Mortius malfunction yet again so much so that the the language center in his brain stops working! ❤
The boys outdid themselves on this. I was very happy to see your and Mason's superfast turnaround on this reaction, you made my day!
Watching the number of times that this arrangement caused Mortius' brain to blue screen.... 😂
Flummoxed Mortius is my favorite way to start my day. 😅
The Eli arrangement that leaps to mind is Eleanor Rigby. I'm sure there are a few others. And we should expect more from him in the rotation. Help keep Geoff and Layne from burnout. They're all incredibly talented.
And Creep! He's also collabed with Layne on Enemy, Queen In 5 Min, and Carry On Wayward Son
Makes you feel like you're crossing the event horizon of a black hole at the beginning. and the silence at the end is soooooo quiet!!! They outdid themselves...again! New favorite! Great reaction as always!
Mortius has been rendered speechless! ❤
Yet again! 😂😂😂
When they make these covers and it feels like they're literally singing like their lives depend on it... it's just amazing.
😂😂😂😂😂 the speechless, stunned brain malfunction, blinking eyes face 10:30 is priceless 😂😂😂😂😂
Old lady here, did not have a clue what I was getting into. It is amazing, really amazing. I loved the outro, they used the karaoke track. Hearing the harmony and the beatboxing without the lead shows the fantastic intricacies of the arrangement.
Great arrangement - but most importantly... it makes me happy! They're just excellent. 🌹🕊
@Mortius

You are the first I've seen that properly recognizes that breathe at the start. So good!
VoicePlay never disappoints
lol, you missed a really awesome Layne moment. When they give the lead to Anthony the second time, the last word he sings there is “snake”. Watch/listen to Layne doing a snake.

He worked with Layne on Carry On Wayward Son! Another one of my favorites honestly.
I remember when Sound Garden released this song in 1994, yes it is 90s grunge lol. Love what VoicePlay did with it
8:57 That is the 90s grunge guitar sound and i love that they used it
It's so fun to watch you really enjoy a new release by Voiceplay (or any of the a cappella groups you follow). You get as excited as most of us do.
I've noticed an Eli signature seems to be that "popcorn" singing. It came in after "I want a perfect soul" in Creep to and its just SUCH a cool sound!
The more I listen to this the more I hear. The look on your face and your reaction is how it hits. You need to hear it way more times to catch even a fraction. Nice one.

Preach Eli preach! Yes 🖤 🖤 🖤
This cover is SO GOOD
"Check to see if you're subscribed" - done and I am subscribed.
I bet mortius face hurt after this, probably swallowed a few flies, and immediately listened to this 10x after he finished
I´ve waiting for you to watch this!!!!! 😻😻😻😻😻 It broke me too 💗💗
:10:29 Voiceplay breaks Mortius 😅😅😅. Love your reactions.🥰
This one is exceptional.
Yay, your back doing another Voiceplay cover reaction. I love your reactions and how you break the video down. Amazing music cover by Voiceplay of Black hole sun by Soundgarden. It's an amazing video ❤
voiceplay proved yet again, they can still make a vid better than their last one
10:28 Mortius kinda looks like he got slapped. Like, it didn't hurt but it was just not computing in his brain.
New epic saga comes out tomorrow!!!
It's so great to see Voiceplay using new techniques and styles on an almost regular basis with so incredible outcome. Love it and your reaction as always 🤩🤩🤩
Mortius, we need to get you a chin guard! That way your chin won't get bruised when you listen to Voiceplay! Oh, and hi Mason!
💙💙💙💙
Loved it. Your facial expression said it all love. Don't even worry about the length of the video lol
Hola desde Argentina... Son tan fenomenales que se te olvida que es A CAPELLA!!!! Increibles... Verdad? Adoré tu reacción como siempre!... Un abrazo a la distancia 😊
Welcome to the world of Mind Blown! Look up the original ... It's by Soundgarden. :D
In my opinion, Voiceplay's version is better (that often happens with Voiceplay).
I've been enjoying your reactions for a while, but just subscribed. This is my new favorite of Voiceplay. It was insanely good! Gives me chills every time I watch it!!
Thanks for joining! It really makes a difference!
Crazy performance!
They are so good, it’s scary
Sometimes you learn wonderful things watching Mortius videos... sometimes you watch a man have a meltdown and fall into his green screen.
Either way, it is always a good time!
I am a huge lover of the original. I am a lover of this one as well. Great reaction, Mortius!
Hands down, I'm sure this is VoicePlay's finest

Hi Mortius. I see the hair, and I'm low-key jealous. Also sometimes listening Mortius is allowed to take over :D Loved the video as always
I love watching your reactions. So honest
You broaden my horizons. Thank you.
Thank you for the R&A your joy always makes my day better
This was basically Eli and Anthony having a run-off. :)
Always fun watching you try to process their music 😂
Just Beautiful! And another great reaction! 💖
Great Reaction❤
Love this version..my eldest used to play cyberpunk, wonder if that's why he is now doing cyber security at uni
I need that opening on a loop... It make my ADHD brain go burrrrrrrrrr
Can someone please pitch the last high note that anthony does? I have a feeling that’s in the 6 octave but not entirely sure
🔥
Fun reaction
Mortius: i dont know Black Hole Sun all that well
Me: this song will always be attributed to Naruto AMVs lmao for me lmao
💜
❤😊🔥
🎉🎉🎉🎉
😀👍

Please react to DJ HISS GBB 2021 SHOWCASE video is fire🔥🔥🔥(beatbox)
The more I hear this, the more I like it. Grunge is not my cup of tea.
😅
