Yeah, work a deal with Martin Chuck to distribute his products in the UK. He has a lot of interesting golf toys including his Tour Striker irons. Martin's a good guy. I went to his golf school & learned a lot.
I love the fact that you never hide your poor shots. I’m off 7 and can be pretty harsh on myself at times, especially with the longer clubs. Seeing that a pro is human and can miss fairways or push/pull shots is heartening not because you’re hitting a bad shot but it highlights just how damn hard this game is!!!
I like these videos. I am also a marial artist and I break things down into three zones of development: training, practice, and evaluation. It's like your old school days. Training is the lecture, getting information about what you are learning and working with someone to address issues. Practice is the homework. Take that learning and work on it. Evaluation is the test. It identifies your deficiencies. Then you cycle back through and take those deficiencies, go back to training do the stupid repetitive drills on the range to fix the problem. Then go out on the course with a mind to use those skills (practice), and then go take somebody's beer money when it works (evaluation)... and then do it all again.
When I first started playing golf I used to hit plastic balls full swing iron 4 into the curtains in my parents appartment from a regular footmat in front of the tv.
Love the turf curtain you have covering that household supplies shelf in the back - very resourceful of you. Glad you were able to get this together to keep filming videos during these crazy times. Much appreciated, Rick!

Can you explain why you chose to hit soft shots over hitting a harder shot? Couple of occasions you hit a soft shot then changed club to hit another soft shot.
Thank you for still making videos. The weather is starting to get better in the US and not being able to play is annoying. This helps a lot, keep it up. I hope you plan on playing a course on the simulator that you play on often in real life to compare the simulation with the real thing.
Rick, I can’t express enough how much I enjoy all the content you put out. I play D1 soccer here in the states, been dealing with a knee injury but I’m cleared to golf, can’t afford lessons so your vids have helped so much. You make things sound so simple which in my opinion is what makes someone a good teacher! I’d love to see you play 18 holes on one of the prestigious courses that FSX has🙏🏽
Rick I will say the biggest thing this video gave to me as a starting golfer is it showed me that even really good players don’t hit every shot perfect. I hit my best game of +12. I been playing for a year and get frustrated at times when I miss hit so this helped me realize it happens to everyone lol
I really like Rick shields, will watch all his videos, and yes I will give a like, the majority of the time, do you think a channel this size should be fishing for likes thou, like setting targets like 10k and such, fair enough saying at the end of a video "please like and subscribe" but does setting targets feel abit cheap or desperate, I duno how I feel about it, does anyone else feel this? Will continue to watch his channel, very entertaining and enjoyable content
Love that Rick is real and shows us even the bad golf shots. It is showing us that he is human and doesn’t always strike it perfectly every time. Also, when he doesn’t hit it well he says to him self “C’mon Ricky!!” 😂😂
There is so much affordable good tech now that you can do it too. I transformed my small garage into a functional simulator for $4700 USD using Skytrak (and that total included everything - mat, skytrak, iPad, net). It's been marvellous this winter and I can't wait to see how it all translates onto the course. I have a vid posted of my sim build with costs if interested. Cheers!
Hey Rick! You think you can do a review of some of the more popular launch monitor apps for the iPhone? Like “Blast Vision” and “Shot Vision”. Doesn’t look like anyone else on TH-cam has any videos that compare the accuracy of these apps.

Hi Rick, here’s a crazy idea. For this challenge, is it perhaps best to get a special club set? I know from your earlier videos, you liked playing the Hogan irons with the lofts on the heads. Maybe you can get yourself a set with exact lofts to hit the exact distances required for the highest score. That would be a nice video as well, getting yourself fitted for the challenge instead of for the course. Just a thought.
'soft' shots, ESPECIALLY with longer irons, are near impossible, off the matt (not teed), when hitting a draw as the draw spin causes the ball to dive. Embrace the fade for these feel shots - it's so much easier

I really enjoyed the video. This is a good challenge because it puts some pressure on you to make the shots. Especially if you’re competing with Peter. I’m glad that your garage has a high ceiling with recessed lighting. I couldn’t have that setup in mine due to lights and a garage door track and opener. If I had this simulator, I’d be hitting every day. I absolutely love it! Keep up the good work!
Love seeing your videos. I have learned so much from you concerning my golf game. I have a hitting net in my garage that I hit into most nights. If I had a simulator, I would never leave my house, lockdown or no lockdown. Stay safe!

Rick, I always get excited when your videos pop up. For the "softer" shots, why don't you just grip down on the club a bit? Playing with the length of the club affects the distance as well. Normal 6i 190 - grip down or choke for 180-185? That way you don't necessarily have to play a soft shot, but just normal.

would love to see a bit of a series on you working towards improving those soft shots and your journey on it, how you improve etc. It is something I also struggle with and tend to just hit the shorter club hard with somewhat mixed results.

i set this up at my place. It's a bedsheet and an ipod that says "good shot" if I press play after I hit through the sheet into my plasterboard wall

I was thinking the same thing when he pulled out his driver, I thought; if this was me, things would not go well.
No kidding. I'd manage to put my driver through the ceiling as well as toeing the ball right into the sensor.....
