Even as a huge CV fan I had no idea that it even existed, so that's probably part of it. reading the wiki I can see why though, it was xbox only with a PS3 port that was only released just before the ps4 came out, so released SUPER late as an online-only title in the console's lifespan and never ported to anything else. It also looks like it got pretty terrible reviews, which I do understand why, while it's a cool speedrun it honestly looks like the kind of game that's only moderately fun for a hour or two casually to get through the levels then that's it, it's missing the exploration and progression that castlevania games had moved on to since cv2/sotn and as a level based CV game honestly it looks more fangame than a real CV level, they're all over the place, no tight level design like you see in stuff like rondo or super CV 4.
@@1Raptor85 This game is not meant to be played as a normal Castlevania. It's a game where you play with multiple people online and grind for the best weapons or spells available. Hell, trying to 100% Soma alone would take a looooong time. But with other people is such a fun game
Run of this GDQ for me. CVHD is the absolute best, the wacky tricks are just so fun to pull off, much as I can only do funny Jonathan edge boosts and that Stage 2 Richter leap. Especially loved the Imp trick in Stage 3 too
A quick follow up comment is Soma also has 1 of the most broken builds because of also being able to equip a certain weapon. Although I got to say some of the Zips in the game are actually a bit easier to do casually then you would think.
Watching this speedrun was awesome! It does make me a little sad that there isn't any more castlevania games like these. This game could do with a new release with more content!
I loved playing this game back in the day. It won't happen, I know, but I really wish Konami re-released this game on modern consoles or made a sequel. The only funny thing is that I remembered that they nerfed Valmanway. Bosses got a invencible window after getting hit, so you weren't able to melt them with huge damaging multi-hits... that change was made along with the first DLC. But here he was able to melt Beelzebub with Alucard.
God I want this game ported to pc or switch!!! I think it would still get a lot of love now a days, maybe Konami is just waiting to release a ds collection before reviving this game to something like the switch 🤞
I've sunk hundreds of hours into this game. Can't say that about any other Castlevania. I honestly feel like the majority of people who hate this game haven't actually beat the first stage.

This is probably an even better solo castlevania on hard difficulty than many others, as the difficulty will challenge even the Dracula X veterans. I tried once in multi and without an headset it's pretty bad imho. Amazing run btw !
Idk I always hated this game! Instead of them following up on Symphony of the night which was a masterpiece, they come up with this clusterfuck of a mess.
hey what? there were over a dozen castlevania games released between symphony of the night and this, and like half of them are clearly following up on SotN
They followed up Symphony with several excellent GBA and DS Castlevania games which have great systems themselves and stand the test of time too. This is a different style, which was also awesome.
But they did follow up SotN: all 3 games on the GBA are more or less in its footsteps, Circle of the Moon less so than Harmony of Dissonance or Aria of Sorrow, but still. And they even kept it up on the DS. SotN carried through a LOT of the series, just not the set-top console releases.
It's so calming listening to JupiterClimb narrating all of the run.
I cannot believe they've never released this for the Switch or something. I'd run the HELL out of this game, even today. This was a FANTASTIC game!

Love this game, on stage 10 i always use the elevating platforms glitch with soma to get to the boss. Great showcase with every character maxed out.
