It was this game that I first really noticed that incredibly overused stock audio clip of a door opening. If you pay attention in movies and TV shows, you will hear it everywhere as well.
I remember buying this game back in 2010 because I saw AVGN's review and literally thought "it can't really be that bad, this looks fun". Glad I did that
Konami were dead wrong about this game really. Sure the controls and movement were clunky but it was considerably fun and the presentation was extremely well done. In terms of music, stories, level design, it was excellent
The N64, more specifically Castlevania 64 and Goldeneye 64 or even Jet Force Gemini were very good bonding times for me and my dad for he still played video games from time to time. I remember we were stuck at the maze level with Frankenstein and his dogs. Kept trying to find a way to beat him permanently, kill his dogs, or something to progress on. For years that was stuck in my head, an while I had my game collection I didn't have the console. A few years back I finally got ahold of one and played this game immediately, progressed to the same part and finally figured out what we needed to do. (We felt really stupid tbh, but was a good feeling nonetheless)
Yea, CV64 is really, really underrated. Most of the time I see it heavily criticized it is from the perspective of someone who is not that big of a Castlevania fan. As someone who grew up with the NES trilogy I liked the N64 ‘vanias a lot. They’re not CV3, CV4, or Symphony or anything but they’re solid.
Super happy to see this game ran. Love Castlevania 64, I can never tell if it's nostalgia or if it's actually good. Either way, I still have fun going through it from time to time, even now. Edit: Best music in the series as well.
till LAMENT OF INNOCENCE, CURSE OF DARKNESS and LORDS of SHADOW saga brought a HUGE change on that Mechanic Not mentioning another underrated Castlevania names Harmony of Dissonance
If this game had been just a little more intuitive, it would have been on par with Ocarina of Time. Has so many memorable qualities, but it's such a confusing game
I've seen so many people complain about this game but you make it look playable enough for me to enjoy and I'm a big Castlevania fan. I'm pretty good with shitty games and still enjoy them. I think I'll finally pick this one up bad designed be damned I'm in to it
It was explained that Rosa isn't a normal vampire. Her soul was masked by the aura of the castle, and now that the castle has once more been banished, the curse afflicting her soul has faded. Much like Mina Harker in the novel.
Not my favorite Castlevania, and certainly not the BEST Castlevania, but it really was a fair interpretation of the formula, especially after the success of Ocarina of Time.
"We'll be using the alternate costume for Carrie if we play as her for particular reasons." Huh, I wonder what-- *looks up alternate Carrie* ...why does she look like a Touhou?

Excellent job with solo-commentary while playing. Explained everything and kept excited about the game. Great stuff.

This game makes me think of bloodborne in the best way possible

Actually enjoyed this game quite a bit as a kid

No idea how you do such entertaining commentary while focusing on the run. But you pull it off❤️
i really loved this runner commentary, it was hilarious 😄
Nice run. I love the OST in this game, very atmospheric and gloomy.
Still have legacy of darkness, such an underrated game!
45:14 THE DISRESPECT
The ugly duckling on the Castlevania series... I love it!
till LAMENT OF INNOCENCE, CURSE OF DARKNESS and LORDS of SHADOW saga brought a HUGE change on that Mechanic
Not mentioning another underrated Castlevania names Harmony of Dissonance
I'm not going to lie, that was a pretty damn good run buddy
TIL Dark Souls is just a Castlevania 64 clone.
YES, this is top tier and so are you Ty

I’d always assumed that Castlevania 64 was bad, but this looks like a good time!
It aged like a ham sanswich
Nothing says "Castelvania" quite like jumping around everywhere
I will always maintain that this game is aweful BUT it is increadebly entertaining.

CARD GAMES ON MOTOCYCLES!
Wasn't the run technically 43:59? Looks like the clock wasn't actually stopped until they cut back to the runner after the accidental transition.
The Little Kuriboh YGOTAS reference was fucking awesome

SKELETONS ON MOTORCYCLES!!!
I forgot about this one. I remember AVGN complaining about that red explosive. It looks very tricky to run it that fast
Nice to see it run but glad I never got it.
I love castlevania -vania -vania
Ahh...the era of 2D to 3D growing pains
This is harder than Dark Souls. Wo cool to see more of this game than the first 3 bosses.
glad that the mighty Reinhardt Schneider The Belmont was chose to brave the Horrible Night of curses
and Courage Never Left the young Belmont
What an amazing run thought i was good at this game 😞
Hell yes
Not my favorite Castlevania, and certainly not the BEST Castlevania, but it really was a fair interpretation of the formula, especially after the success of Ocarina of Time.
Making it look too easy. Never beat this game when I was younger, couldn’t get past nitro like most. Glad to finally see the ending… not gonna lie.
I'd buy the game and play it if my parents hadn't sold my n64 without telling me for 25$ 🙃
"We'll be using the alternate costume for Carrie if we play as her for particular reasons."
Huh, I wonder what-- *looks up alternate Carrie*
...why does she look like a Touhou?
2d castlevanias>3d castlevanias. Change my mind
