My favorite story is I got this game from a friend in 2000. He didn’t like it, so he gave it to me. I loved it. I was telling him one day all the cool stuff I like and then I told him I got the inverted castle, and his reaction was “What inverted castle?” Best free game I ever got.
lol we have very similar stories! I had a rich friend who always got new games (I had a sega genesis still) and he immediately disliked SOTN just because it wasn't 3D so he gave it to me when I got my PS1. one of my favorite games of all time to this day
Insane playing and commentating by Dragonblitz! Great chemistry with the couch too. I forgot how excellent SOTN is. So beautiful, way ahead of it's time.
Dr4gonBlitz is so freakin good at this, not just the speedrunning but presenting and explaining and being generally charismatic. This was an absolute joy to watch.
I don't know how anyone finds these convoluted methods of skipping around stuff. Finding the skips seems hard enough if you know they exist. Finding them by accident, then replicating whatever you did to do it again seems impossible.
Some glitch hunters crack open the game and look at the code. Others have a general deep knowledge of what usually works out and how certain fundamental aspects of game design work. And then there's the truly dedicated guys who literally jump and bash their heads into every wall they can find in order to find the spots in the wall where the collision is fucked up enough that they can skip something.
Idk how this popped up on my feed but I’m so glad I clicked on it. This is so impressive and to find all those little glitches and perfectly timed frame glitches is so insane. I wonder how many hours this dude has on this game
Back in my childhood, the inverted castle was just a rumors in our city. I replayed this via emulator and finally did it. Turns out its true. Pre internet video games are awesome. Discovering secrets is a lot satisfying.
My first gaming experience were games like Dizzy on ZX Spectrum. I remember people drawing maps, codes, location of items and such. Those were magical days for sure.
Just to be clear just the regular inputs that are performed seemingly with ease in this run are extremely difficult. The glitches are just the cream on top :D Insanely impressive run all together.
Dr4gon is one of the only streamers who I feel comfortable enough with to watch stream casually which sounds stupid, but I'm stupid. Either way it's really nice to see him here. Great run!
Always good to see a glitchy SOTN run, good commentary as well. Shot in the dark but if anyone knows how to start with 90 health let me know - did it once as a kid and have no idea how it happened. Thought it was collecting 99 hearts but maybe there's a time factor or it's a PAL version difference.
Doppleganger40 killing Doppleganger10 is really quite logical: the first time you beat him [in normal order], he kinda gets drawn back into the mirror/portal he came from as he dies. Defeating him in the inverted castle just wipes him out in both instances as he has no mirror-portal to use for escape there.
57:20 I've never played this game, but this room is so beautiful (stained glass!) and cool (parallax!) that I looked it up just so I could get a better look.
When I played this as a kid, I thought they called him "Beezelbub" as a play on words because he commanded bees. But they weren't bees! And then I thought I Berenstain-remembered the typo incorrectly and it was always Beelzebub, but because of this run, no. It was indeed Beezelbub.
This is one of the mechanically most impressive runs I've ever seen.
Dr4gonBlitz is actually goated. it is kind of nuts.
bro, being capable of doing those frame perfect glitches and explain at the same time is so godam impressive, Dragonblitz is amazing
This run was so smooth. I’m always in awe at how skilled speedrunners are and Dr4gonBlitz is one of the best.
Not just smooth, several of those floor clips are quite finicky and only one or two required multiple attempts. That's amazing in a marathon setting.

Absolutely AMAZING run of one of my favorite games. Thanks Dr4gonBlitz and GDQ!

Insane playing and commentating by Dragonblitz! Great chemistry with the couch too.

Clean run and great commentary, ggs!

It is really amazing watching DB speedrun while doing commentary. Very informative and entertaining. WP DB

To be fair, the game's been out since 1997. 27 years is a lot of time for millions of people to find glitches in a game.
😎
Read the code.
That was insane. Congrats on the run, DB!
Yo! Big love for DBDaily... oh wait, his evil twin? lol

O jeito que o Dragon joga e ainda explica é surreal, o bagulho tá no sangue do cara...GOAT
Yo, Dr. Foregone Blitz? I love that guy.
The great Dr. 4 Agon Blitz!
An amazing showcase of extremely difficult glitches performed by a true legend!!
dude speedran the commentary as well. well done
Idk how this popped up on my feed but I’m so glad I clicked on it. This is so impressive and to find all those little glitches and perfectly timed frame glitches is so insane. I wonder how many hours this dude has on this game
Amazing run! DB is the GOAT of this game.
I always love watching Dr4gonBlitz speedruns. He's so thorough and descriptive, makes any run extremely approachable.
Wow, congratz Dr4gonBlitz for the amazing run, it was really nice to watch
Congrats DB! Doing the tricks while walking the audience through is one heck of a task and you made it look easy.
Razor sharp. This guy plays this game constantly, he has worked his ass off to be thing good and it shows.
34:50 - Who knew X-Com math would be applicable in a SotN run?
Easily one of the best speedruns I've ever seen. Love seeing SOTN.
Wish it would count for me to watch this one thousand times and like it each time! You are awesome DB, GG !

Perfect speedrun as always. Loved the commentary DB.
Absolutely stunning run...
But real talk: that Hank Hill impression was on point. Congrats to Xen.
Let's Go DB! An awesome speedrunner to watch.
Just to be clear just the regular inputs that are performed seemingly with ease in this run are extremely difficult. The glitches are just the cream on top :D
Insanely impressive run all together.
Always enjoy the SotN runs ❤
20:43 "Bro, you could be making all this up." 😂
Adoro ver las runs de Dr4gonblitz, una locura! Saludos desde México 🫰🏼
Dr4gon is one of the only streamers who I feel comfortable enough with to watch stream casually which sounds stupid, but I'm stupid.
Either way it's really nice to see him here. Great run!
I like to think NakeyJakey consulted Dr4gonBlitz for his episode on speedrunning, it's absolutely spot on lol
Always good to see a glitchy SOTN run, good commentary as well.

Yo it’s my boy @Dr4gonBlitz - honestly one of the best technical speed runners in any game
Dude Dr4gonBlitz, cool to know SOTN is your fav game of all time, mine too bro, like you said is a total masterpiece, one of a kind.
Doppleganger40 killing Doppleganger10 is really quite logical: the first time you beat him [in normal order], he kinda gets drawn back into the mirror/portal he came from as he dies. Great pic of DB on the thumbnail. DBDaily could never....
Super metroid runners: we can do our bosses in reverse order
Symphony runners: we can also do that. Kinda
Unbelievable. This made me I'm much less of a pro gamer than I thought.
Woo Dragonblitz! He is one of the most thorough runners of many categories.
Damn dragonblitz normal speedruns are already awesome but this one was absurdly fun to watch
DB narrating impeccably while playing hardest shit is unbelievable
This is what we need. Thanks GDQ

01:04:00 lotta money went into that Hank Hill impression
Propaine prooopaineeee, propaine prooopaineeee

Congrats my guy! You made it to AGDQ!!!
This is the most speed run in speed run I have ever seen
Awesome job, DB!
Blitz SOTN speedruns are like rocket science thing.
This reminds me of when Raistlin goes back to the Palanthas Tower after Istar.
Nice! 3 things I like. GDQ, SOTN and DB content!
Highlight of the event
I too am a human-like creature. Such a relatable couch!
Welp you made it DB!!! Congrats!!

When I played this as a kid, I thought they called him "Beezelbub" as a play on words because he commanded bees. But they weren't bees! And then I thought I Berenstain-remembered the typo incorrectly and it was always Beelzebub, but because of this run, no. It was indeed Beezelbub.
Impressive skills.
SOTN is my favorite game.

Lets go db!🎉
I got algo blessed. Thank you.
Great run
Well done DB!
He's back!
Dude you still run SOTN? I remember watching your streams many moons ago, Dr4gonblitz.
2024 , still no game can replace Symphony of the Night as the best 2D rpg
dr4gonblitz FTW!!!!
And I still can't figure out how to use the elevator in this game
love lots for Dr. 4gon
the ending was kind of emotional... impossible to avoid i guess
