Thanks, I learned a lot. Have a safe, enjoyable trip. Wish I was there. New Mexico is a welcome respite from the humidity and claustrophobic cities back east.

Thanks Fast Fred! It is treating me well so far, though lots of fire closures - the downside of the arid climate is this place is like a tinder box right now! But a tinder box I love.

Correct answer out West is almost always Lixada single-piece solar panel (paper, 80g) connected to a Nitecore NB10000 power bank (5oz). This combo will keep virtually any setup fully charged forever. For in-town charging, this author uses the 30W Aukey 1oz charger, but the Anker 20W 1oz charger is also adequate. Not sure why anyone would carry a 5oz wall-charger, especially when a 3oz solar-panel virtually ensures full batteries when walking into town?

Well hiking the AT is also called walking the green tunnel. Not much light gets to ya. So, a solar panel isn’t going to cut it.

@@toejamr1 - Is AT "out West?" Because, if you'd read the post, it says, "out West." Maybe you haven't learned how to read yet? Maybe you attended public-schools? Can only recommend requesting a tuition refund?

About NB2000 Don't buy it. I have had one little bit over a year and it has been mostly been just painful to use. Sometimes it doesn't output anything... sometimes it only charge from in/out port and not from input port and now it's started to expand so it's probably going to explode soon =( I have been really unhappy with this product and I just email to their customer service so let's see hw they will hand it.

Thanks for the feedback! Mine has been ok so far and I am still using it without issue. It made it through a CDT thru-hike in 2022 and is still going. One quirk I have experienced is that it got “stuck” a few times where the light was on but it wasn’t being charged or charging. I think this was driven by the multi-use high-speed port experiencing an issue. It definitely sounds like your experience has been worse than mine, so I appreciate you sharing here. My hope is that Nitecore will focus on quality in their next version. And it would be really nice if they would round out those sharp edges…. Appreciate you watching the video!

Something to remember: A pair of 10k mAh banks will charge in half the time as a single 20k, especially if you have a nice charger. Also, you get the reliability of redundancy should one of them stop working, you still have the other. Useful for long range trips.
