    surprisingly simple, no need to piss about with a spring compressor death machine. keep up the fantastic camera skills. loving the use of a scissor jack as well

    Modern springs seems so much more skinnier than the lighter cars from the 80s and 90s my MOT tester and I was talking about this the other day. Great video as always 👍

      Yea they do seem smaller even though cars are heavier. Thanks mate

      I have a 118d and just installed 335d rear springs and shocks

    Thank you for your video, it was very helpful. I changed mine yesterday, had to cut the bolts for the lower mounting for the rear shocks because of rust, but all in all it went easier than I thought, because usually here where I live the rust increases the time it takes to get done.

      @@reda827 glad it helped mate. Where I live they throw salt all over the roads in winter so we struggle with the same issues

    Good use of Jacks and levers to get the job done as always. Don't know why but whilst on ebay today I bought a £25 torque wrench ??
    I usually just go with ur 3 settings, tight, really tight and really f... tight 😊

    • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos
      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Those are generally the only torque settings you need. A lot of the settings given are just to idiot-proof the job, and aren’t actually critical.

    Great job, you make it look much simpler than it can actually be. 👍 I owned a 5 Series E39 BMW. The rear jacking points on both sides were shot. Actually the jack fell through the sill once when I wanted to change a tyre. Was the worst car I've ever owned for rust. Plus I've gone through lots of manufacturers, including a handful of European brands. A "Premium" brand doesn't necessarily mean you have a better car! 👎

      Thanks mate. I had the same issue. I had to weld the sills and jacking points in my e39 540i but it was before my TH-cam days. Similar job to what I did on my e46 though tbh. Mine was getting on a bit by the time it needed welding though so can’t complain, it was a prefacelift which were better than the later ones for not rusting though.

      Interesting, so you've been there with the E39's as well. 👍 😎 Loved the shape of these, classic. Fortunately you are in this industry plus have the skills to tackle alot of these issues that come up with these cars (so costing much less £££ to put right). I put Coilovers on mine too, it ran very low. Was fun while it lasted. Ended up giving it away as a scrap vehicle, with all the rust that took hold, became no longer cost effective for me to put right. On second thoughts I'd probably have got more for it, if I tried selling it on fleabay as a "project car" (requiring attention). These cars still have quite a dedicated following.

      @@somerandomname9252 yea I’ve been there done that. Loved mine! The rear spring was a pain in the arse to change compared to this and the e46 though. What engine was yours? Here’s a quick video I made up of mine:

    Great video I was going to pay my mechanic but think I can manage with this video. Is there any special tool I need ? My springs are sagging I think.

    • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos
      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not so much special tool, just takes a bit of force to move the arms into place etc

    Just changed the rear shocks (2days ago) on my e92. The driver's side rides about 10mm lower than the passenger side (which it did before changing the shocks) The spring looked fine but now I'm wondering if I should have a closer look now....
