Have a look at The ragwort control act 2003. From what I understand form it, it is only enforceable if its causing problem to others. I have used Glyphosate for about 40 years for weeds and also weeding shrub beds etc. Great for bindweed stinging nettles etc in among shrubs using a small hand sprayer with one hand behind the leaf to stop over spray. It is adsorbed through the leaf. If any gets on your plants just cut/break that bit off and no harm done. There is a blue dye that can be mixed with it and then you know EVERY where its gone. Use nitrile gloves.
I found the bit about ragwort in Wilding (by Isabella Tree) really interesting, especially about how it’s seeds are spread, but also all the different attitudes towards it. As well as benefits for wildlife.

I thought you were not supposed to put it in compost. It was my understanding it needs to go in the trash.

I thought that if you composted it then it may come back. Those red and black moths love it! Such nutrition for them.
