The most memorable thing about Armageddon for me is not Emperor, Horus or Vulkan. It's that Angron brought with him FIFTY FUCKING THOUSAND world eaters , almost entire legion, not even counting demons. And still FUCKING LOST to the guard and few companies of wolves. Pathetic excuse for space marines. He had more marines than defence of Cadia or defence of Baal and didn't manage to conquer a single planet.
Because Armageddon equips it’s regiments with the greatest armor in the universe; plot armor.
.....ummm...He destroyed like hundreds of planets. The lore had him lunch his blood crusade destroying hundreds of planets. He was stopped at Armageddon.

@@alperakyuz9702 I love little story from Armageddon omnibus. Squad of World Eaters is saved by Khorne during the retreat in the First War of Armageddon. They travel using warp portal and come out in the same place during Third War of Armageddon. Where they immidietly get their asses handed to them and slaughtered by Relictors and Black Templar.
The wars of Armageddon is how you do a 40k conflict. With 10s of billions involved possibly 100 billions.
What about what the flesh tearers did? 300 billion confirmed.

Fun fact: The outcome of the third war was decided by a massive worldvide tournament were ork and imperial victories were tallied up in games of Battlefleet gothic, titanicus and classic 40k. Each country represented its own part of Armageddon, with games played in Australia decidding the outcomes of a region known as "the fire wastes".

With how many wars that Armageddon has had over the years, I’m somewhat surprised that Abbadon hasn’t tried hurling a Black Stone Fortress at it yet.

Fun fact: Armageddon is a transliteration of the Hebrew words har megedon or mount megedon. This was supposed to be the location for the final battle between good and evil.

Considering now we know that Armageddon is a renamed and relocated Ullanor, it does make some sense for the name given. I mean, what better way to scare people off than to give a location a repulsive name like that. Plus, those greedy gits from the AdMech may have deliberately planned it so they can resume plundering any remaining tech without interference.

The point is, that there is no "Mount" Megedon. There is a hill on a plain, and the city of Megiddo is on that hill... and it IS the hill. You see, it is one of the oldest cities, or maybe THE oldest, and all the garbage and materials have piled up for some 8000 years, forming a hill. So during biblical times it was already an ancient artificial hill and people knew there were ancient buildings in their cellars.
What Mount Megedon means is " a really long time", when the garbage and levels of buildings have literally formed a mountain under the city. So its not necessarily "where" but "when".
5:00 There was one Krork who became part of Trazyn the Infinite's collection for a very long time and imagine what happens if he released the Krork into the galaxy.
I want to see that Krork show up during during the Octarius War. Like that could be the ork version of a "Big Damm Hero Moment" where the orks could finally be losing ground to the Tyranids, than he show up out of the sky like some sort of Ork Messiah.

Um... massive wars like that would leave geological remnants all over the planet. Mountains blown in half, huge craters, or other scars across the landscape. The first colonist would be like: What the ever loving fuck happened here? Looks like some people used to live here until some Armageddon happened to them. Neat name for a planet.
Almost like "Heart Attack Grill", doesn't really exude much confidence - yet people go there!

Here are my proposed more realistic numbers estimates for these campaigns.
Ulanor Campaign:
2 billion Orks
800 million Imperial army
100,000 Space Marines
Thats alot of titan.
Armageddon the only planet that gw let's the guard and the salamanders do anything cool on.

The great advantage of Orks is their numbers. Tyranids have bigger numbers. And each Ork that is consumed becomes more biomass for the Hive Fleet.
Eventually even the Orks will run out of Orks.

Well the planet remains under the rule of the imperium, he got sent to the warp and the gray knights still exist so yeh he lost
They gathered basically Titan's garnison. People who they left behind, because they weren't suited for strike force missions, including wounded, old and trainees.

I remember playing in the War of Armageddon Campaign at GW Hamburg store, commanding some BF Gothic cruises. That was an epic campaign and fun!
I like to think that in 40k, the word 'Armageddon' didn't exist, cuz the emperor expunged religion,so all thought of it meaning the end of the world no longer exists. Eventually the word is forgotten. Hundreds of years later some peasants name their planet Armageddon thinking their cool & unique, not knowing what the word means.

It is likely that armagedon was the birthplace of the orks, there was some piece of lore talking about there likelly being something uneneath the planet's surface, hidden.
The Beast(s) got the closest that any ork has ever gotten to become a krork again but he (they) came just shy of crossing that line. The beast was not a krork, technically.
Yeah, for GW numbers, just add an extra one or two zeros on at the end and you’ll be a lot more realistic for the kind of large scale conflicts of 40k.
100,000 Space marines isn’t even half of what the Ultramarines legion had on planet during the Battle of Calth.
In other words, Calth was a bigger battle than Ulanor by those numbers.
More likely, Ulanor was at least 1,000,000 Space marines, at least 80-800 million Guardsmen/Imperial Army, and 200,000,000 to 2,000,000,000 Orks.

Space marine chapters having 1000 marines is makes the most sense out of all of GW's numbers I'd say they're meant to be special forces not armies.

All the numbers needed were roughly around 80% of all active Space Marines and initiates when thing were going badly coupled with around 3 billion guardsmen (which is a lot less than they have now) plus 1500 knights and Titans.
Orc numbers range between 10 to 20 billion orcs.
Really puts the Armageddon name to better use then.

I often wonder what would happen if the orks, especially Ghazghul, found out about Armageddon being Ullanor.
I mean Ghazghul already knows about the war of the Beast and the World Killa’s connection to it, so it isn’t that much a stretch to think he knows about Ullanor and it’s importance.
I imagine if Ghazghul found out about Armageddon being Ullanor, his WAAAGH and empire would get much larger, much stronger and much worse.
