    So very nice! I like the scaloped border you used and the different type of cards you made 😍. I admire the way you perfectly align the parts by ‘eyeballing’ it. Can you explain how you use the guillotine cutter by Tonic? I mean how do you cut the sentiments, where do you look, where do you eyeball to get it straight and the same spacing on both sides of the stamped text. It would help me so much if you made a slowmotion video where you make sentiments with instructions where to look, where to measure etc when you cut it. Now the cutter is not fully in screen...

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Francisca van Bochove Thank you so much! 😊 I had fun using this paper collection. I think my crafty OCD helps me get things fairly straight and even. Lol! I’ve had my Tonic trimmer for so long, I guess I just know where to line up paper for cutting. When I’m trimming out a sentiment, I look to the right side of metal guide. If my trimmer wasn’t so big, I would have it on screen more. I have such a small work are already though when I do my 6x6 videos.

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Margaret M Thank you so much! 😊 I recommend all the peel off colors. Lol! Silvers and golds are always good choices since they coordinate nicely. It really depends on what paper colors you use a lot. I seem to go through the teal mirror peel offs quite a bit. Black and brown are nice to have on hand, but I do use more bright colors since I like the pop of color. 💖

    Hi Kristie!! Thank you so much for always sharing the design process for your cards. I have noticed that on some of the card sketches you only give measurements for the pattern piece or the extra pieces without the mat. Is there a rule of thumb you use for creating mats? For example, in the OWH Sketch #34, (beginning about 9:45) the sketch only gives the measurements for the three rectangular pieces in the center of the card. However, the finished card has a large patterned background piece with a mat, both of which are slightly smaller than the card base. Do you cut a large background like that 1/4 " smaller that the base (i.e. 4 x 5 1/4) and then cut the mat 1/8th smaller than the base or larger than the background piece? Also, do you cut the pieces for the card that side given and then cut the mats 1/8 or 1/4 larger? Just wondering if you follow a rule of thumb. Thank you SO much!

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      gaildean55 Hello. Thank you for your kind words. I really appreciate it. 😊 Most of the time, I add an additional 1/8” for the matted cardstock layers. If I want a wider layer, I’ll add 1/4”. I also alter the measurements of the sketches quite a bit to fit a specific sentiment or image I want to use. For the card I made using OWH sketch 34, I wanted some of the card base showing as a white layer. So I cut the pattern paper to 4” x 5 1/4”. The matted blue cardstock is 4 1/8” x 5 3/8”. I hope that makes sense. 🙂

    Another great set of cards for inspiration! I have a question...when you add a piece of white paper behind the front part of your card (for example...the blue card towards the beginning. You built the card & layered it on the blue, but then you put white behind)...is that just a layer for stability or is that your folded card base? I'm just curious because frequently, it looks like you snip off the edge & I wonder why you'd need to do that on your folded base as it's a set dimension. I know this is a lot, so I really hope it makes sense & isn't too confusing. Thanks!!!

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Crafting a Planned Life Thank you so much! 😊 The white cardstock is a folded card base. I like to make card fronts, then adhere them to heavy weight card bases. For some cards, I make my card front a bit smaller so some of the white from the card base shows. For cards where I don’t have the card base showing, I hold the card front up to the card base. Then I’ll trim off any slivers of the white card base since it bothers me if I can see it. Just a little crafty OCD of mine.

    Wonderful! At 24:50 in the video, you are cutting part of a circle shape out of dark brown paper and putting it behind the white circle....? are you wanting a small amount of height behind the circle? I think I saw something similar with dark brown in strips earlier in the video. Please explain. thanks.

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Virginia Pender Thank you! Yes, since the right side of the circle die cut went over the sentiment banner, I added the scrap cardstock to keep everything level. Otherwise there would be a noticeable dent in the middle of the circle. I hope that makes sense.

    So adorable! I'm curious, would you know how many pieces of cardstock it generally takes to make these 6x6 paper pack cards? And how hard is it finding matching cardstock?

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Julie Gauchay Thank you so much! I average around 15 - 20 sheets of cardstock, not including the card bases, for one 6x6 video. Some colors are really hard to find a perfect match. I take the paper pad to the store when I’m looking for cardstock, if I don’t already have the right colors. I buy individual cardstock sheets at Joann’s when it’s on sale. 🙂

      Naomi Flores I list all the cardstock and brands on my coordinating blog post if I have the information. (Blog link is in the description box) Some cardstock I’ve had in my craft room for many, many years and I don’t remember where I purchased it. And there’s no label. When I need cardstock, I buy individual sheets at Joann’s when it’s on sale. 🙂

    How do you decide when to leave a white border around your cards and when not to?

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Teresa Nielsen It depends on a couple things. If the background paper is white or mostly white, I generally won’t have the white card base border. I feel like it’s too much white. Also, if the pattern paper has more cream or off white, I won’t leave the white border. And other times, I don’t want to lose the extra 1/8” on the card front if I’m adding a larger image or sentiment. 🙂

      I have soooo much paper that I've purchased in the past... no need to buy anything new.

    • @KristieMarcotte
      @KristieMarcotte  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Francisca van Bochove I love Doodlebug paper pads and they only cost a little more than other brands. I don’t mind paying the extra. 🙂 I’ve never figured out a per card price before. I enjoy the hobby and I donate most of my cards. I buy my card bases, envelopes, and ATG refills in bulk. So that cuts down the price a bit. But I want to make sure my cards are good quality, so I always buy good products.
