I think this Generation was the era for the Magnavox Odyssey, wasn't born in the era but wow you needed a imagination ( 1972 - 1976 )

Hello. In Valencia (Spain) a totally wireless developable cartridge game console was created. In April 1976 it was completed. It began selling on August 6, 1976. It had 8 games. The architecture is self-developed, as are its video games. Only about 150 units of this game console were manufactured.

Great video. The Odyssey carts did sort of had games on them they are basically rewiring the system which is how you program an analogue computer. They aren't turning on a program that was already there because it didn't really have programs like a proper computer.

I remember playing the Coleco Telestar. The one shaped like a white tub. I played it in the early 90's, so it was old even for my time.
The Coleco Telstar Arcade was unique, I actually wouldn't mind a wireless controller that looks like it but with better games of course
that was a pretty good into into the first generation. a lot of graphical innovation happened in this generation purely due to the number of consoles that was released.

I had the original Coleco Telstar but returned it to get an APF TV Fun with separate controllers. One thing not usually mentioned is that some of these consoles, instead of playing sound through the TV, had a built-in speaker. IIRC, I had to put tape over the APF's speaker to deaden the sound since it had no volume control and it was loud (or the three sounds it made got annoyingly repetitive).
Still need to pick up a first gen console. Got atleast 2 from everything else. Probably will just pickup a telstar. Great vid

You could say those mini consoles were a resurgence in dedicated consoles as well.
Now thats what im talking about gaming history ese...
I feel you could have done a bit more with Atari in here, as they really did push even the first gen limits with things such as their Video Pinball and Stunt Cycle consoles.

I just realized - Coleco had a Pong console called the Gemini? Dang, I wish I knew that; a while back I made a video The Crazy Clones of Atari, documenting all of the clones of the 80s, like Coleco's expansion module, and of course - the Coleco Gemini! I think it's possibly the most in-depth YT vid on the topic, but dang, I did not know of the previous Coleco branding. And I thought I knew of every video pinball of the 70s, but didn't know about the Telstar Gemini. So this video was a two-fer! Again, great vid
