    Hot tip: to make your spotter a sniper for a stationary target, just use your binoculars to aim at the head then swap to rifle without moving the directional input. The rifle will be automatically aimed where the binoculars were so you can headshot. Perfect for kar98 with the flare gun

    Addition tips:
    Get a Jeep to go fast to enemy line.
    Drop ammo with the jeep on 2 places you can reach later in the round.
    Use the Jeep ammo supply to get more flares for leader more AP mines for sniper.
    Place the jeep so can pick it up later (not next to the op) for quickly go Arty or Place garrison's for commander if far away locations.
    Can also follow enemy Supply truck with the jeep, but that is more luck than skill.

      Jeeps aren’t bad to use after the first 10 minutes or so if you get destroyed trying to get around, and are very fast and fun to drive. it’s unfortunate you can’t get them at the start, also I’m surprised they aren’t used more, might need to look into that, the new jeeps are fun though

      Very true, another reason why recon can make or break games with those flanking garrisons. Hot tip though, don’t play spotter when you’re new to the game, I made that mistake. Personally I think that playing the regular officer and learning how the unit officer works first helps learning how to become a great spotter because then you would’ve already learned how to make call outs, communicate with command and place down OP’s in ways to attack arty and also search for enemy garrisons closer to your own lines. Although I don’t have many chances to play spotter when you do make sure to always communicate your movements with your sniper and let command know what your course of action is

  • @Jermster_91
    @Jermster_91 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    The Recon unit is also helpful in building garrisons on suppliers dropped behind the lines. Maps such as Remagen are a pain for the infantry to push across but if recon is on the other side, they could make a garrison and make a 2 prong assault on the bridge.

  • @the_gent6145
    @the_gent6145 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Personally I drop my OP somewhere between enemy left or right HQ and the middle HQ. That way you can get back to Arty quickly if needed, it's usually safe if sighted correctly you loose your op quickly if you attack arty from the same direction constantly. If you're killed start at the OP again and work back to the points via a differnt route trying to find garries, nodes etc really effective.

    • @ChaoticHammer_
      @ChaoticHammer_  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OP placement is a bit of a gray area and depends on what you are trying to accomplish/what approach you wish to take, and since every match is different, i agree with what you are saying, if the enemy team is paying attention, they might find you if you are moving recklessly/doing the same attack pattern.

    Your video guides are some of the best around for HLL and I really appreciate the work you do. If I could suggest one thing that would elevate your content even further, it would be to follow a written script for your commentary. I say this because you tend to go on asides after touching on a major point; and while that isn't a bad thing and can provide useful information, it is distracting and can take away from the main idea you're trying to get across. Running a "first draft" video through a transcribing program and then simply reading it aloud for the second take is a technique I find useful to both organize my thoughts and get rid of verbal chaff. I feel this could go a long way to adding some additional professionalism to your guides while retaining the personality and the obvious love for the game that makes your guides so enjoyable to watch.

    • @ChaoticHammer_
      @ChaoticHammer_  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I appreciate the feedback, I had a script I did make but it wasn’t as detailed as I wanted I found myself constantly changing words, and it never did get finished, and due to my over-explaining nature, it got frustrating when it came time to do voice over bits. I’m still working on kinks and what I can do better. I’ll work on that in the future and I really appreciate the constructive feedback and praise, it means a lot!

      @big_tasty1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I totally understand bro, and I'm the exact same way so I just figured I'd share what helps me. If you're interested, another technique I use is to set a time goal for myself, ie if the first draft is 5 minutes long, the second should attempt 4 and a half. Though often easier said than done, I find it helps me really focus in on the point I'm trying to make.

    You're missing one of the most important spotter functions, especially if the next objective is known - get behind lines and request a supply drop a safe distance away. Put your OP down near the drop and move to a 2nd position and request a 2nd drop...typically N & S or E & W of the point. When your team caps the current objective put a garry down, redeploy and put a 2nd garry down. When done correctly, your team comes in from 2 rear positions often taking the defense by surprise and overwhelming them.
    Another good tip for spotters in Offensive mode - once you take the middle position and get to the back of the map, check all 3 enemy HQs. If you see a supply crate there, (or to a lesser extent, nodes) then it is a given that their final objective is not in front of that HQ (since you cannot drop crates in the 4 squares surrounding the final objective). If 2 of the 3 HQs have nodes, after taking them down you can pretty much assume where the final objective is, and then get your supply requests in accordingly.
    Tip for Defensive mode - at the start of the game spawn on the default garry that is in front of your 2nd objective and immediately run behind lines to the square opposite your 2nd defensive point. Once the first point is lost, you can stay behind lines. Stay hidden and there is a really good chance that at some point the enemy will build a garrison in that square to attack. Come from behind and take the garry out. As long as you stay within that one single square, you won't get timed out.
    I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!!

    • @ChaoticHammer_
      @ChaoticHammer_  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I appreciate the comment and i appreciate the respectfulness of it, I wanted to say that up front.
      Overall I agree with the principle you have stated, the garrisons you can place behind the lines and preparing for the next point is a big one and I should have mentioned it more. Only thing I have to this is that you have to walk a fine line between preparing for the next point and helping the team advance or defend (scenario permitting) airdrops are the easy way to get supplies to you and have them ready for garrisons but you have to hope that no one is paying attention to the air. But a counter to that argument would be to sneak a supply truck behind the lines. I’m someone who isn’t afraid to backcap the enemy objective knowing they have no garrison in or around the point, but the success to that is varied and there are debates about that. But overall I see your point and I should try that a bit more in my games.
      The HQ bit I think I just forgot to mention, I already employ that in my tactics on offensive mode and i appreciate that it was brought to my attention.
      The defensive one is a mixed bag, I think are are numerous ways you could handle that, I think it would be better to simply play flank control, that itself can vary. But usually teams try to hit the sides of an objective with airheads hitting the back, I see your point in going behind the lines to wait for the enemy to head towards you but I feel like that can be too passive at times compared to hunting down garrisons elsewhere as they come up and using their own airdrops against them. (I might have missed the point you had on this one though, as I think you mean to go into the read zone? Problem with that is after awhile it will push you out or kill you after couple of minutes. At least on console)
      Looking back at this video it wasn’t perfect in both an editing sense and information sense, which I plan to revamp in a year or so for potential new features. I also wanted to keep it under 15 minutes. At the time I was very new to video making and didn’t know much, at least to now but I still have a lot to learn. This is a long-winded response but i appreciate your time and and your respectful comment and I’ll look to do a better job with my info and take more things into consideration. I hope you enjoyed the video though.

    • @gsteixner
      @gsteixner ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ChaoticHammer_ No, it was a great video with lots of good points, I just wanted to add some :)
      The point I was making about defense is that you can't get behind lines until the 2nd objective is lost. For instance, on an E/W map, columns A and B...once they turn red you can't get back there because you'll time out. However, if you're back there before the first objective is lost, (while it's still friendly territory) then you can stay back there as long as you stay in the one single square you're in when the objective is lost. On console, you don't time out until you leave whatever 200 X 200m square you're in. So, I'll run opposite my team's 2nd objective and sit in that square until the enemy builds a garrison, then take it out from behind. I agree; starting with the 3rd objective you should just flank wide and work your way into the red zone. Running to the 2nd column before losing the first objective is just a quick trick to get around normally not being able to access the first 2 columns. It can be especially effective because the enemy is not expecting anyone to be able to access that area.
      I too drive supply trucks behind lines when I can, but the downside of that is the noise the trucks make and that you only get the 2 crates. Add to that, it's much quicker to leave your OP by one set of supplies and lie waiting by the next and just redeploy as opposed to driving. What I've found, is that if you're back far enough, (typically 4 squares) the enemy is often too focused on defending the current point and they usually don't see supplies coming down, especially if you're a good 200-300M from the point. Besides, if they do see them, you're usually too far away and they typically won't be able to zero in on where exactly they landed. Plus, once you take the next objective, those "behind lines" garrisons become front line garrisons for the next objective.
      Been playing HLL since October 2021 when it first came out. I think it's one of the best games I've every played and I never grow tired of it. I'm at level 230something right now and I still pick up new strategies and techniques all the time.

      @ChaoticHammer_  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hear ya, I greatly appreciate, I wanted to make sure you got something out of it. I appreciate these comments greatly for a multitude of reasons. I see what you mean now on both bits and I’m glad we got the defense one cleared up. I see what you mean being ready for when they finally move in before they take the first point and using that to destroy a garrison that they wouldn’t expect to lose. The truck bit I understand but the noise I don’t think is as noticeable as an airdrop but if you are behind the lines that far very few will notice. I’ve been playing since around Dec. 2021 and I enjoy the game a crap ton, I wish I got more time to enjoy it overall but it’s a great game and love to play it

      Hopefully people see your video and understand the great benefit the spotter role plays.
      A good recon team can help take a point without being on the point themselves.

      It’s a good habit and one well worth learning if you want to excel at this game. Most veteran players have developed an intractable map-checking ‘tic’ every 5-10 seconds!

    Wrong, def recon is meta. hunting down enemy garrisons in your bluezone and being, you know a spotter, providing the team with intel with flares or binos While your sniper is doing nothing besides trying to top frag the game getting the most kills. Against good teams when you are in the back and are taking down locked garrisons you will get strafed and a squad will counter you and wipe your op. A 2 man inf squad with AT is 100% better to take out these garrisons, can also harrass new tanks and trucks coming from hq and satchel nodes.

      In offensive and being the defending team this can be more true, in warfare, not as much unless your team digs in at a point. hunting down enemy blue zone garrisons and preventing an angle of attack that they may be using is big to helping the team, but you can still hunt down red zone garrisons as well as they are sometimes more important to destroy, as commanders and officers for the other team will try to place them there for the slower destroy time and the 15 meter radius they take to block them compared to 100 meters if they build garrisons in the blue (the other teams red zone) zone. I don’t think it’s necessarily wrong to hunt down red zone “buildings” especially to help your team in both offense and defense depending on game mode.
      In regards to getting strafed and things being guarded by squads that want to guard and or hunt me down, that’s men and resources they are wasting to kill one or two guys that they might need on the front line to stop the main army, and they aren’t always successful. If squads want to hunt me down, fine, I’ll keep moving the outpost, if I have to I’ll disengage and move to another area, there are many important areas for a behind the lines recon can hit and if they want to guard them, cool, they won’t have as many guys to hold the front line and it’ll cost them. Also with a sniper (a lot of the vid is more for if you have a sniper that isn’t talking, cooperative, etc) you can do so much more with the new update in regards to hunting red zone garry’s and nodes.
      Regular infantry squads with AT can destroy any garrison easily, I’ll give you that but sometimes using a rocket isn’t ideal especially if the other team has a crap ton of tanks. Hopefully this addressed most of your points if I understood what all was being said and i appreciate the feedback
