      @Adventure Seeking Artist sorry to jump in, my experience using coconut oil in baking causes the aroma of coconut covering the entire dish, it's unpleasant.

  • @germanbini
    @germanbini 3 ปีที่แล้ว +182

    From the website:
    Ingredients
    2 cups (10oz/284g) all-purpose flour
    2 tablespoons sugar
    1 teaspoon salt
    6 tablespoons (3oz/85g) butter, melted
    2-3 tablespoons cold water
    Instructions
    IMPORTANT NOTE: This recipe has been changed and updated 11/23/20. It now includes melted butter rather than oil. This makes it flakey and buttery. Any previous issues have been resolved.
    Get a 9" or 10" pie pan or dish.
    Into the pie pan add the flour, sugar, and salt and stir together with a fork.
    Add the melted butter and water to the dry ingredients and continue stirring until the dough clumps together.
    When the dough forms push it into the pie pan using your hands. Try and get the dough an even thickness. If your dough is dry add a splash more water.
    Now your pie crust is ready to be used!

      I know this is difficult to understand, but people around the world measure in different ways. We have to give cups/metric measurements and imperial measurements. It takes too much out of the flow of the presentation, and really slows it down. We know, we tried it before, and it was just as tricky. We put the link to the recipe right by the video for your convenience. But here you go www.biggerbolderbaking.com/no-roll-pie-crust-5-minutes/ I hope this helps.

  • @nvd2ceb4
    @nvd2ceb4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I made this today. I remember seeing this video a while back but never got around to trying this method. Well, I was at the website that's in the description box and got paranoid because I read the comments. Some people said their crust came out rock hard. I trusted my gut and went ahead and made the revamped version-butter instead of oil-and it came out great. I made this using my family's stove which cooks pretty slow so I had to crank their oven to 400 degrees. I made pot pie cups. I put the crust in my fraternal twin's cup cake tin, put the pot pie stuffings inside-ran out of pie crust so I could barely cover them up and baked for 20 minutes and they tasted like the actual pot pie!! So thank you for this recipe! Since I was successful in making pot pie cups who knows what else I'll be trying!

    I make a lot of pies during the Christmas Holidays. I’m very experienced at making pie crust dough and rolling it out. Making pie crusts is the only thing I don’t look forward to when making pies. It is not even close to being as easy making pie crusts like many videos show . It took me a year to master, making pie crusts.
    Your pie crust recipe has simplified making a pie crust. I use butter instead of oil. Other than that
    , I LOVE and most always use this recipe.

      It comes out like a pie you would buy at a grocery store bakery. Not much flavor, not a all flaky, dense, and not good. I'm not great at making pie crusts so I'll stick with the refrigerated pre-made folded Pillsbury or the likes. But this recipe isn't anything like cold butter made rolled crust. It was like I ruined a pie.

    • @kevindelaurentis8666
      @kevindelaurentis8666 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Polina-lw2xw I wouldn't say it failed. It's just nothing like a rolled traditional crust. Does it work? Yes. Does it taste anywhere close to buttery rolled pie crust? No, not a chance. If you've never tried the refrigerated crusts, they're the bomb. They cost a few bucks but worth skipping the aggravation.

    Fantastic! I thought I'd share my gluten free - frying pan version which I've been using for ages as I don't have an oven. It can be a bit hard BUT if you add the pie filling immediately it helps it to stay 'cuttable', lol. 3 tablespoons cornflour, 6 tablespoons buckwheat (sarrasin in French) and 3 tablespoons coconut flour (you can use any other flours you like but chestnut flour doesn't work so well!)...plus 2 tablespoons oil, pinch of salt and water to mix. Once moulded into the frying pan prick with a fork all over and cook on the lowest heat until the top starts to feel done. Hehehe, not very technical I know but I tend to cook by intuition. Presently enjoying pear tarts...but you can also use the same mix if you want a savoury pan pizza pie too. Much love Louise

    40 years ago my aunt had a recipe like this. To the baked crust she would add a mix of strawberry jello, cream cheese and 1/2 tub of cool whip. Then top with other half of cool whip and refrigerate for a couple hours to set up. I lost the recipe 30 years ago during a move when someone stole a box that had my cook books in it. Gemma Stafford's No-Roll Pie Crust
      One 9" Pie Shell Ingredients:
      2 cups (10oz/284g) all-purpose flour
      2 tablespoons sugar
      1 teaspoon salt
      ⅔ cup (5floz/142ml) water
      2 tablespoons oil (canola, vegetable, or sunflower)
      Instructions:
      Get a 9" or 10" pie pan or 8" x 10" pan.
      Into the pie pan add the flour, sugar, and salt and stir together with a fork.
      Add the water and oil to the dry ingredients and continue stirring until the dough clumps together.
      When the dough forms push it into the pie pan using your hands. Try and get the dough an even thickness.
      Now your pie crust is ready to be used! You can blind bake it, freeze it, or use it in any of my pie recipes.
      Jello Cream Cheese Pie Filling
      3 oz. strawberry jello mix or any flavor.
      ¾ boiling water
      ¾ ice water
      tub of cool whip
      baked deep dish pie crust
      In large bowl mix jello into boiling water. Stir till dissolved about 1-2 min.
      Add ice water and stir till ice is melted.
      Mix in cream cheese with mixer until well mixed.
      Fold in 1/2 of cool whip. Then spoon into baked pie shell.
      Top with remaining cool whip and refrigerate 4-6 hours to setup.
