This Amazon REFUSED To Come Out Of the Closet... (But Look At Him Now!)

- Meet Elliott, a 15+ year old double yellow headed Amazon parrot. Age truly unknown other than he's much older. Most people believe older birds aren't trainable, especially to be able to fly and that you must get a baby bird to teach flight training but Elliott proves them all wrong.
He started inside a closet... and look at him now!

The little noises Elliot makes are ADORABLE 🥰
I love the energy of these 3, I've never seen two owners whose energy seems to match that of their pets so closely. They just seem all seem so chill, I think Elliot has found an amazing home.
It’s always a pleasure to watch success!
What do you mean, that bird looks like a couch potato!
Elliott illustrates how quickly parrots can learn, once a fear is overcome.
Elliot is a sweetheart! As are his parents. Enjoy many more beautiful years together. My Laura green amazon just died at 54 years old....xo
Man , that puts me in my place, I'm only 50, wow!!♥️
@Varina xoxo My heart goes out to you for your loss 💓 I had left a nice comment for you that was deleted twice and I'm not quite sure why. I was merely sharing a similar experience. Take care and much love from beary, Zeke🦜 and BeBe 🦜 macaw
@@bearyhot thank you so much! My mom had her before i was born (im 53).....you knew she liked someone because she would start saying hello hello hello n when it rained she would start to dance.....they are such amazing creatures....xo
So sorry for your loss
@@BirdTricks thank you❤
That bird has such trust and affection for these guys, it's really impressive. I'm also impressed by how dedicated they are to Elliott's safety and wellbeing. Well done, all.
Wow, I truly love these two men and their lovely little Elliot. It's so heartwarming to see two people so devoted to the health and well-being of their wonderful bird. I cried along with them!!
Shout out to those owners! You are awesome!!!
Elliot is amazing and so are his dads!!
This gives me hope about my African Grey who doesn’t fly. He is an older rescue. I am currently working on target training and expanding his diet to healthier foods.
Jamie~ "See what happens when you listen"😆😆
Love it lol!👍🏼
Jamie was a billion percent right. We are so grateful to her.
@@davidedeutsch8627 Yep, the two of them AND Capri tooo are totally awesome and sooo knowledgeable too!👍🏼
What lovely people, so dedicated to the best for their bird friend.
Such a cute trio. Really happy to seem them so cheerful and the bird so motivated to fly.
This video is so precious I don't even mind the click bait title 🤣🤣❤
Who in the hell disliked this. What a beautiful story I can’t imagine the patience involved on both you guys and the poor bird
Love a good rescue story. Glad Elliott found them.
You all have worked so hard to enhance Elliots life. It’s so wonderful to see. He is now how he should be as a bird. His welfare is uppermost in your hearts which it so beautiful. Thank you. May you please take care and stay safe.
Wow Wow WOW--you had me at... Well, I'm still crying with joy from you crying with joy! Your family is charming and your story is delightful!
Elliot is so lovely and beautiful 😍 I love him. He’s adorable 🥰
Old animals can learn new tricks!!!! Especially when they have the intelligence of a parrot.
Edit: seeing him cry in joy over the birds success made my day.
And very dedicated, caring parents!!
Elliot is adorable and very lucky to have such wonderful owners
Excellent video and story. I haven't had a pet Parrot yet though I currently have Button Quail who I adore. Love the heading too 'Come Out Of the Closet'. ;-)
Ohh great!
Amazon parrots are one of my darlings......
You guys are doing such a wonderful job.
I love the fact that even being apparently older in age, you treat them to be young "Hatchlings" and treat them the same......
Love you forever BIRD TRICKS.
Best wishes from INDIA
💐🇮🇳💐
I really love how they never gave up in him. They tried everything to make him fly :,)
We need more people like this!
Amazon parrots r very active need lot of stimulation, this bird is so calm I’m a maze I’m glad he find himself a good home for life.
Poor Elliot he was never taught to use his wings. That's sad. So glad you adopted this bird. He is lucky to have you.
I just fell in love with Elliott. Love from the Netherlands 💕
This made me weep! Last winter I inherited a 20+ yr old CAG who also refuses to fly. I have been told he once did fly, but his previous owner clipped his wings and his heart was broken. He hasn't flown since. It has been my wish to help this wonderful CAG regain his strength and willingness to use his wings for more than a parachute. So thank you Elliot, for proving you never know what is inside a bird. Never say never. Especially when feathers and BT are involved!!
That's so sad 😢 One of mine is currently going through a heavy moult & we were doing great flying training, but then he found he struggled to reach the perches, due to loss of altitude from the feather loss & so now he's refusing to even try to fly. If a moult can do that, I can imagine a feather clipping would have an even more devastating impact on a bird's willingness to even try. If he's willing to use them as a parachute though, there should still be hope :) maybe you might need to resort to the table tip? Hopefully treats & just feeling comfortable enough to do it before that though. Mine is sort of willing to attempt it again now for mealworms, being a lorikeet, they're not even meant to eat bugs, but he will seriously do ANYTHING for a mealworm! Fingers crossed you can find a similarly powerful treat for yours & get those wings working again :))
That’s exactly what I want to do, I want to free flight my Congo African Grey. Nicely done guys!
Elliott seems so content n relaxed. Good on you guys!
I will keep routing for Elliot and safe adventures!
am i the only one who was praising elliot out loud while watching him fly inside the closet?! this video is simply amazing! bravo elliot and parronts! 👍👍👍
These stories make me so happy ❤️💕 Every bird is perfect the way it is ❤️
So precious! What an amazing group.
Gosh.. such an adorable trio ♥ That is one lucky bird, finding these two (and you guys) who were not giving up on him! Awesome!
He’s so adorable
All three are sweethearts. I am so happy for them.
It did make me cry. So beautiful! What a huge accomplishment!
❤️ you an tell the joy and pride these birds have when getting to fly..
Wonderful happy and Elliott has a wonderful home… and a fabulous name 😉
Loved seeing these old birds learning new tricks😎
What wonderful owners of Elliot! What sweet sweet beautiful human beings. I cried with the owner when Elliot flew outside for the first time
AAAA I HAVE A 10 year old double yellow headed amazon. I'm so proud of him at first he wouldnt step up now he's the sweetest! He is fully flighted but only flys when hes scared
Beautiful!!!! Thank you all for this!!! Much love to all of you, Jamieleigh, Dave, Gary, David, and most of all truly brave bird Elliott... I have tears of joy for all you've accomplished together. Thank you for sharing this inspiring story!!!💙💙💙

I absolutely love hearing these rescue success stories!! 🥰
This is such a beautiful story!! I'm so happy for them!!❤❤❤
This story is so awesome! I am so thankful for Birdtricks' channel
🥰
I bought the budgie bundle for my linnies and am now a Patreon. I’d love a larger bird to free fly but assumed I’d need a young bird. This is a fantastic experience and when the time comes I’ll adopt an older rescue. Thanks so much to you guys and bird tricks.
Elliot is adorable! I’m glad you could help him!
Well done guys,WELL DONE !!!!! It just proves it's never too late to make your own and somebody else's life better. It brings tears of joy to my eyes and a warm feeling to my heart.😍 Lots of love to Birdtricks family, keep up a good work.😘
Amen!! Birdtricks,your family is amazing!!
You guys are such kind human beings! Very inspiring to watch your story. Elliot found the best home possible! Wishing you blue skies and fun flights, always!
You guys are so sweet, giving Elliott the best life possible ❤ I loved how David provided some shadow for the precious Amazon.
Very nice and cute bird 😍🥰
I actually shed cried when Elliot made that long flight! Way to go!
Thank you guys so much for sharing your stories about Elliot ❤❤🦜🦜🦜
I have two yellow cheek conure And over the last 10 months I'm so thankful. I've learned so much from your TH-cam channel it help so much to keep my birds happy and healthy thanks u so much 😍 🥰
I love seeing people love their birds and animals like these two guys do; he looked like he was concerned that his owner was crying.
This is so precious. ♡ and shows that there's very few birds that can't learn to free fly. Its up to the owners to properly learn how to train.
How cute Elliot was sitting inside the bush, making those Amazon cuddly/happy sounds… 👏👏👏☺️🤗💚🦜
Put an GPS on him when he is outside so you can track him
what great people!
Aww love these kind of stories 🥰
I love it when people go to such efforts to help their animals quality of life ❤️ Elliot is gorgeous..
Great job Elliot, Bird tricks and especially Gary and David for being EXCELLENT & loving parents! OK, my kleenex box needs to be replaced... beautiful success everyone!!
This is a really great video! I love seeing those birds outside and experiencing freedom to fly in the open skies. The birds have a choice once they take off to fly and true love guides and sends them back to their owners.
I sincerely hope nature itself has a way of thanking people who take such interest for the welfare of both animals and the environment. Nicely done!
That bird is a master of silent charisma
I agree SO much with the safety element raised here! Please teach your birds to fly people, even if only 1-2 metres inside your home. So many people in bird video comments seem to have birds that crash & so they clip them or lock them up to keep them "safe", but it's like a baby learning to walk, the best way to keep them safe is to give them the skills to do it in a safe way.
One of my rescue birds arrived with the name "Crasher", cause apparently he would crash into everything & how funny that was to the people in his old life apparently 😞 Anyway, to stop him getting constantly hurt, they just locked him in his tiny cage for a decade :-( When he arrived at my place, he was cage territorial, but too scared to leave it, but as soon as I broke through that & had him starting to climb on the outside of it, he would fly & crash anytime he was startled by a wild bird outside, or any other noise, so before he was even step up trained, just trained to touch the stick & be lured, I began working him with perches, having him jump to them & bigger rewards if he used his wings in the jump, so now he doesn't crash anymore! Took a while, he had no idea how to judge distance & control his landing, but with practice he learnt.
He only reached about 1 metre of controlled flight before going into a heavy moult & refusing to fly, but it's enough :-) He still accidentally flies off (long distances) when he gets startled, but he always lands gently now (not graceful, but that doesn't matter), not a heavy thud into a wall or similar. Once his moult is finished, we'll hopefully do some more work, meanwhile we're enjoying going outside & eating bottlebrushes, with me confident that when he gets startled, he can be safe & make his way back to his cage.
Anyway, again, even if only for indoors, please teach your birds to fly for their own safety
Absolutely amazing that you have helped him….and love him….god bless you
My parrot was exactly the same. The good old method of throwing him to show he can fly himself. Now he will take himself upstairs to bed all by himself
Very sweet video, yes we all love our birds ! Great caring and giving to Eliot, a deserving bird! Who now knows the joy of being outside and flying ! Post more videos ....of Elliott's progress,!
I just got a blue front from a pet shop .The person that owned him doesn't have the time to spent with him .His cage is his safe space I am having trouble getting him away from it. He is young and has pick up a few bad habits from being in the shop and people poking there fingers in his cage he is cage protective . I really hope to be able to free fly him one day
He doesn't stop talking 😁😁
I encourage you to binge watch your way through the ENTIRE BT channel. Get him on the Seasonal Feeding System, 12 hours of dark, uninterrupted sleep and you will not believe the changes that will happen with you and your beautiful new bird!!
Bird are beautiful and easy after you learn what they like n best suits then, if they get not go out they need a avian light 💡 for a least haft hour daily. Good brand of pellets always fresh water snacks n toys. to drink, they love showers but with a spray bottle at the beginning is fine. Remember they need a least 12 hours of sleep put something dark color n not noice if u have a spare room without noise is better. They love to play outside from their cage only supervised in case they chew a cable or something dangerous. I used to have a pair of birds 🐦. Another tips is they feel lonely if they alone for to long, I left the tv on not to high the volume or radio. I miss my birds so much but I move and they wanted to charge me over a hundred monthly extra n have to find a another home. Anyway after they see you everyday they get used to you at the beginning they’re afraid but let get use to u changing water/food every time n you’re going to be happy. Careful using nonstick cookware the smoke is toxic to them. I have a air filter for my birds too bc I didn’t wanted them getting sick only on during the night but it’s up to the person went cooking or cleaning is go on , n they never got sick with me. Good luck with your bird 🐦. Always read n research
Have you touch trained him? That can be done even within the cage & then used to help get him out of it & feeling safe doing so :) Also, do you have any of the screw on perches? If not, buy/make a few & attach them to the OUTSIDE of the cage around the door, so he can come out but still feel he's within the safety zone of his cage. I use one of these attached to a large door on my cage for training, it's on the inside, but when I open the door, it's then outside the cage, but still within the cage zone that mine feel safe in. Below the small cage doors on the other side are little perches they can sit on if they're game to exit their cage (but right near the door so they can duck back in if they get scared). Roof of the cage is a great spot for treats & playing too once your bird's feeling safe enough to venture to there (mine will climb onto the roof, but don't feel safe there in the way they do in their cage & on the perches right at the cage doors)
@@mcdart2606 I am going through all the BT episodes and have purchase the beginner training from BT as well He is an amazing bird with a great character thank you for your advise
@@No-name-z1p He has a priority spot next to a window where he watches me feed and interact with the wild birds that are super friendly with me . I let him out often to build some trust with me I work from home so we are interacting all day . I have got the best foods and I am trying a food routine so he doesn't have his bowl full all the time
Great bird parents and really highlights what frame of mind people should have training their birds. They understood the risks, but were willing to overcome that for a healthier better adjusted birds! Lots of great things to take way from this video!
Wow! This is incredible!
So good of you to take an interest a scientific interest in your bird. What state are you in. I am from Oregon and just took a trip through Southwest.
ADORABLE ver la emoción de este señor..es conmovedora
just awesome!
I think it also takes trust. The bird trust you so you trust that it will come back. The bond you have with it.
I love their energy they seem like a very loving caring couple. Elliott seems very happy and content with them. That's awesome! I love responsible pet owners 💜. #engagednotcaged
What a heart warming vid! Go Elliott! Go all three of you! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness together! 👬🦜
Such sweet men. I love this story. Xo
Me encanta ver a cuidadores tan comprometidos con sus mascotas
He was all shaky before takeoff but gathered his courage!
Really enjoy these testimonials, and hope you continue to share. Love Elliott's humans, and their determination to give him the best life possible, so happy they found BirdTricks to not only help Elliott to fly, but to have a healthy diet. Thanks and see you soon!

Elliott is such a cute name! Capri looks so grown up here, almost like a tween. (I bet she will be happy to hear that lol). Hoping someday my dream of freeflying Cheeky comes true. Birds truly deserve this. 💕
Great story and Elliot is such a good, clever and beautiful bird.
ELLIOT y sus gentiles y bondadosos padres lo han puesto en el aire. Muy bien.
Not sure who I love more... these guys, or elliot 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
As I age, more signs of love and trust become evident between Humans and the animal world, which raises my doubt of (they only do it for food) and that they have genuine feelings (intelligence) We should be thankful.
Beautiful couple and beautiful bird!
he even looks like you guys!
Elliot is so sweet!
