  • Dennis Deep Cuts #41 Looking into the collection to see what artists I have the most amount of albums with and talking about that a bit.
    How many records are too many? How many records do you need with one artist?

    A tour vlog would be very cool. Especially in your various bands. And my most collected artist at the moment is Johnny Cash, with 40, followed closely by Sufjan Stevens at 39. But it is about to be Omar Rodriguez Lopez when he drops that box set next week.

    This video got me curious about my collection, and it turns out I've got 78 releases by Motorpsycho. This includes both cds, box sets and vinyl. Didn't think it would be that many, but it adds up when you got the cd-version, the repressed vinyl and the box set from a couple of records.

    I have 171titles from david bowie, but then I spent quite a few years collecting nothing but bowie, as a part of you know processing the grief from him passing away. Anyway, I love my bowie collection and I very much enjoy your videos, so keep em coming!

    It depends if they can keep up with good new sounds..

    Pretty sure yours & Ian Mackays' output is what I own most of. Would be - in your case - 27 titles. I used to be a little obsessed with early TINC 7"s that turned into The First Conspiracy and still love those Lost Patrol Band/Invasionen LP's

    I can totally understand these quantities, even if it seems completely crazy, collecting records is simply an addiction, but I think a positive one. I always regret selling records aswel, but the sale frees up capital for new records that lead to new fantastic discoveries. I have several versions of albums that I really like, so for me it's not always the collecting thing as such most important, but when it comes to my favourite records finding a true first pressing and then THE one with outstanding sound, which is where mastering comes into play, countries, pressing plants etc. As a tip in this context to your number 1 on your list for DB - The Rise and fall of Ziggy Statdust, Italian pressing from 1983, Best Buy Series JKAY 33452 with Piero in the matrix for P. Manucci Mastering.

    I have 90 Guided By Voices/Robert Pollard related records. Which is still a small fraction of everything he’s done

    I have probably about 50-60 records/CDs by the Fall that would probably be my Number one Artist. Still Missing a couple of Albums in Vinyl though.
    The one Album I have Most copies of would actually be The shape of Punk to come - two Vinyls, CD and that Audio-dvd.

      That's fantastic. Love the Fall but they've put out so many records!!!
      Ha, thanks for buying all those different versions!!!

    Really neat list! No surprise seeing Bowie up there - such a large and such a great discography. I don't own many of his records myself, but I do want to try expanding that part of my collection at some point.
    As for what artist I have the most records of... I think it's honestly you. If I counted correctly, I've got 49 releases that you've been on (22 vinyl records and 27 CDs). And I still don't even have everything - I'm missing Saker som jag sagt till natten and the two Fake Names albums, along with some super old stuff like Step Forward. You put out an insane amount of music.
    Other than that, I've got 33 Boris releases, 32 Ihsahn releases counting his solo stuff, Emperor and other projects together, and 24 Alice Cooper albums.

      Thanks. That’s a lot of music with my name on it. Feels nice to be in very good company as well.

    In my collection, I definetly have Def Leppard the most. 59 titles including all albums as well as all Singles from Hysteria and Adrenalize! Already second place is a swedish band with 34 titles from Starmarket and third place with 23 titles from The Unfinished Sympathy from Spain, not counting the boxes of CDs and LPs that I have sitting in my room at my parents house 😉

    • @Dennisdeepcuts
      @Dennisdeepcuts  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's wild!! I think that I only have Pyromania! :)
      I know the Starmarket guys really well, that's really cool!!!!

      @strangeisthenewfruit 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Only Pyromania is not enough, you should definitely also include at least High‘n‘Dry and On Through the Night 😊
      Yes, I love Starmarket and I feel very lucky to have had the chance to release two albums from them. My most favorite record from Starmarket is Calendar 🤩

      From Refused I have at least 18 titles, not including compilation. I don’t have time right now to pull out every other record from you, but it‘s estimated another 25 records which makes you second place right after Def Leppard 😊

    Is Discogs the main tool for ”logging” all your records? Or do you put them in one grand Excel-file or something similar?

    • @Dennisdeepcuts
      @Dennisdeepcuts  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I use Discogs as my main source for logging everything.

    The tour diary would be fun to see. Mainly because the variety of the bands you're in, I'm sure that people go to see you because of who you are, but to see the differences in crowds between INVSN, or Vannas Kasino, or Fake Names is interesting to me, and of course the record hunts.

    Yes tour diary vlog please. David Bowie's Diamond Dogs album shaped my childhood I loved flipping open the album and just reading it cover to cover and just checking out the artwork on it and realizing I didn't have to be normal or the same as everyone else. Alice Cooper could be the artist I had the most vinyl from back in the day.

    i'm not completely anti-mainstream and punk purist, but in my record collection i tend to prioritize variety over any specific artist focus. not that your collection is any less varied than mine ofc, nevermind it's probably at least 10-20 times as large. i do have a lot of cds as well but i rarely use that format anymore. quite a lot of Manics in there actually, incl. many if not most of their singles, ending at 'this is my truth...' so if you count cd, MSP is up there with me as well.
    anyway my LP stash is 90% punk/grind/hardcore/emo/screamo, along with 7-inches that often tie those bands together via splits. so it's hard to say which bands dominate there as it's spread quite evenly among those genres. however i do have a little section of pop/hip-hop/electronic artists, and in that little shelf square Kate Bush is the queen. only have 5 of her records though, which is not a lot, but if i don't count 7-inches that's the artist i have the most albums by. in time i'll procure many more i hope. truly one of the greatest of all time imo.
