As promised last episode here's the list that you've been waiting for.
Me rambling on about 90's Hardcore and the scene that shaped my life. There are some good Refused stories in the mix and some great music.

I agree with most of the choices. But missing Earth Crisis - Fire Storm or Gomorrah Season Ends. Shelter - Mantra, Crivits - Stare. But yes, to many good albums from the 90s.

Sick of it all is the best NYHC. Fun video. Thanks.

Ink and Dagger’s Fine Art of Original Sin is the American Shape of Punk to Come (in many more ways than one).

I don’t necessarily disagree with this list, just so much great hardcore, it’s a gargantuan task to try. So, good job on that. Also, I know you don’t like bragging on yourself, so I’ll say it for you: Refused “The Shape of Punk to Come” belongs on any serious list of the subject.

Interesting list. European albums/bands worth mentioning: Congress - Blackened persistance (1995), Rykers - Ground zero (1996), Kindred - File 01 (1996), Acme - to reduce the choir... (1996), Kickback - Forever war (1997), Facedown - Beyond all horizons (1998), Arkangel - Prayers upon deaf ears (1998), Length of time - Approach To The New World (1998)

Torn Apart Ten Songs for Bleeding Hearts for me. Late 90’s but changed me from punk kid to fan of hardcore all hardcore dudes I knew were very aggro angry guys and that didn’t vibe with me these guys were more like me.

“Then again, Cro-Mags were hare-Krishnas. Look at them. They’re completely normal people.” HAHAHAHAHA

The first time that I saw Refused was on the '96 tour with Snapcase. It was in a terrible space outside of Reno, NV called Heritage Hall. The place had 7 foot ceiling and they built a stage that was maybe 2 inches high. Refused and Snapcase both played amazing sets regardless of the space. Everyone in Refused was kind and approachable. Songs to Fan the Flames of Discontent is one of my all-time favorite hardcore albums due to the memories of that show. The next time that I saw Refused was at the Warfield in San Francisco on the reunion tour in 2012. Two amazing shows that will always be a part of my fondest memories.

I grew up living with my uncle and grandma. My uncle was maybe 24 or something at the time and was a hardcore guy. I used to dig through his tapes, records, and cds. I found scratch the surface in his room. Changed my tastes. I must have been like 10. My uncle also gave me the shape of punk to come as a Christmas gift. I didn’t understand what I was hearing but I liked it. Fast forward to me at 36 years old and I still love those records so much.
