    This is how videos should be made. You were informative, straight to the point, and your camera angles were thoughtfully placed. Well done.

    I just watched 2 other videos before taking a look at your's and I have to say that your video is much more detailed, clear and concise on the entire installation. In each of the other videos they kinda glossed over some of the steps and I guess they just assume that whomever is watching is going to go out and buy this product and get the details from the install manual. Thanks for the video and sharing it. This helps me tremendously in making an informed decision to buy this product or not which I am now thinking about purchasing. Again, thank you very much!

    Very good informative video. I have a 2020 F-150 and my Roadmaster arrived today 2022-05-03. Thanks
    Same day update. I just installed the system which was very easy to install. I did remove the tires for ease of installation. Took the truck for an loaded ride and there actually is an improvement.

    Also you dont have to take the tires off. You can crawl underneath and also reach around tires.

    1 thing i dont see is the spacer for the bump stop. I just installed my heavy duty road master for a 2015 4x4. The spacer offsets the bump stop about 2 inches to the center so it does not interfere with the road master. Got the heavy duty ones and used the black disc, got a 3’” lift

    You guys putting these down probably haven’t had them. Don’t knock them till you try them. Had them on my 1500 Dodge luved um, just put set on my 22 Colorado and luvem.

    Good video. Just a couple of pointers. There's no need for thread lock on a nylock nut. Also, the "tube sleeve" is called a bushing.

    • @TheBTRGarage
      @TheBTRGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the tips! I've had nylocks wear out and loosen in the past, so sometimes just add some insurance to ones that are in active locations.

    Misnomer.. These springs will not increase carrying capacity by 25% as advertised. If anything it will make a stiffer, more taught suspension and not a produce a softer ride. Purely psychological. I think that it would be helpful in sequestering axle wrap ie in drag racing and in slightly lifting the bed height for leveling when towing.Nice video , easy install ..well done.

      Hey, I have the Roadmaster RAS and love them. Last week I went to buy the Timbrens myself. Like with most things I size things up before I install. When I did I saw that the Timbrens would not work with my F150 '17 and Roadmaster because the Timbren have too much width/girth and would come down on the brackets of the Roadmaster. Hope this helps. I went ahead and brought some Bilstein 5100 instead.

    Great video. Cheers. Would you recommend these on a 2020 f150. I don’t haul much

    • @TheBTRGarage
      @TheBTRGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! If you're not hauling much, it may not be worth it. If you're looking to smooth out the ride a bit while unloaded, these do help make the truck feel a bit more stable and smoother ride. It may not be as effective on a newer truck like the 2020 though, mine was a 2010 if I remember right.

    I do have to ask though, why the gloves? It looks fairly warm there.

    Yours is the most informative video for installation of the roadmaster. Suggestion: for future videos, wear a dark shirt. Your white shirt almost ruined your video. The white shirt made the camera think your purpose was the shirt making the main object too dark.

    Nice video of installation. Did you notice an improved empty ride on your truck after install. I have an f250 with a rough ride and I am trying to get opinions if this product would soften unloaded ride while helping on loaded ride

    • @TheBTRGarage
      @TheBTRGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment! Yes, the ride was improved even unloaded. That is what I talk about in the video when I drive it after installation. The rear of the truck was more stable and didn't bounce or dance around when driving over bumps and things. Keep in mind this is on an F150 with independent front suspension, not sure if the F250 has a solid front axle? That might change things, I know my F250 is a rougher ride than my F150 was.

    I just watched a video where a fellow pointed out we should be installing the unit not in the first hole, but third or so changing the centerline of the spring. Nobody seems to be getting any response back from manufacture so what is the correct spot on the bracket?

    • @TheBTRGarage
      @TheBTRGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jim, not sure on that one. It's been a while since I installed those and I did it per the instructions. I do not remember alternate installation holes, only the different discs for the spring tension/load setting.

    • @trekfortruth2841
      @trekfortruth2841 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is the reply I got from Shawn at RAS: Using the 2nd or 3rd(middle) hole will bring the RAS spring closer to the axle and in return will give it a better leverage point and make the RAS perform even better! No matter what tension setting or adjustment you make, the RAS will never harden your ride quality with OR without a load. If you have any other questions just let me know.

    Did you ever do a towing video with these on?

    • @TheBTRGarage
      @TheBTRGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never made a video, no. But I did tow with them. It helped "calm" the rear of the truck but I'm not sure they provide additional towing capacity.

      @TheBTRGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! I don't have any plans for a weight distributing hitch at this point, but if I do I will be sure to do a video on it. I actually have some more truck related stuff coming soon!

    Thanks for the review! Have you had a chance to drive unloaded on bumpy roads? I'm wondering if these might help smooth the ride over our ridiculously rough expansion joints on the freeway. Any experience with something similar?

    • @TheBTRGarage
      @TheBTRGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I did. Similar to what I explained in the video, the rear end did not bounce or dance around nearly as much. The truck felt a good bit more stable when hitting bumps or small potholes and things.

    Just curious as to why you chose to use white disk for the 25% vs black to increase load capacity?

    • @TheBTRGarage
      @TheBTRGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just went with the "smallest" setting to start and see how it worked out. Supposed with increased load capacity (or spring tension basically) the ride quality diminishes. I never got to test that theory out though, it worked fine with the white disk.

  • @trinityfootanklespecialist5695
    @trinityfootanklespecialist5695 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Quick question: Did this raise the ride height of the rear or front of the truck? Also, does it matter which eyelet whole you use for the area going around the U-bolts?

    • @jav_eee
      @jav_eee 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it raises the rear about 3/4”. As for the holes: physics tells me the farthest hole to the rear (that you can safely use) would be better but Roadmaster says the first one is fine.

  • @dcd6115
    @dcd6115 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Any updates? After two months of driving around with the Roadmaster installed, do you think the system is still worth it, over say, just installing performance leaf springs?

    • @TheBTRGarage
      @TheBTRGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I do believe it is worth it. It really does improve the ride and during towing, it helped keep the rear end of the truck under better control. I'm sure there are other products out there that might accomplish the same thing, but I have not used them.

    Why did you need the second set of pin jacks?

    • @wyattparo9744
      @wyattparo9744 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, don't they say in the manual not to jack up the truck on the rear differential?

    • @TheBTRGarage
      @TheBTRGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I probably just used them for additional support. I don't remember there being any issue with the jacking point.

  • @kstiubhard7058
    @kstiubhard7058 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One of the biggest mistakes people make when trying to get the most out of their truck's ability to haul a trailer is the tire selection. Passenger or P rated tires won't do you any favors when you are hauling a load in a corner, and the sidewalls flex and you get that 'sneaker full of mud' squishy feeling. Get some LT or Light Truck rated tires with a good solid sidewall. You're going to feel the difference right away, even without a load to haul. Your truck will ride "like a truck". Safety first, kids.

  • @BradsHacks
    @BradsHacks 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    How is it "active"? Looks like a passive mechanical component to me.

    • @kevinhanley3023
      @kevinhanley3023 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think they use the word "active" to describe the continuously varying spring rate. Simple springs have linearly increasing force associated with spring displacement (F=kD). so, for 1 inch of travel, the force is k*1". If k = 2, it always equals 2 regardless of travel. But a variable rate spring ( k is called the spring rate) might have a value of 2 at k=1, but k=2.5 at D=2. I saw variable rate helper springs out there too. they are tapered so that they are not as wide where they bend at first, but as they ben more, they have to bend the bar where it is wider (more metal to bend).

      Why and what makes you think that? I have it for my Raptor and will be installing it here this week.
      There is guys that I know that have ran it for 100k miles and when they bought their new truck and drove with out it they ended up going out and buying the kit for their new truck.

      These work if you don’t use a weight distribution hitch and like the ass end of your truck lifted another 2 inches.
