Amazing video - never seen Dee Marsh from above before so well done for capturing this footage!
@@theretrocrowe I haven’t either so first for me too.
Brilliant, always wanted to these sidings working.
Added bonus with the shunter too
Very good indeed
Cheers Les 👍
In the late 1980’s I used to travel on this Bidson Line each way once a week for 5 years to college in Liverpool, so it was nice to see what we passed each time. I remember seeing diesel shunters working here.
If you look on the video, when the shunter leaves the yard into the steel works there’s the old shunters shed. I do remember yellow diesel shunters parked up outside but never seen them move. I only remember Allerton based shunters doing the shunting for steel and wood into the paper mill. Used to be about 3
Interesting footage Paul.
@@antman09ful1 Wanted to do it for a while
Great vid
@@James47298 Cheers James 👍
excellent video, most enjoyable.
Enjoyed putting it together. Wanted to do it for ages but never got round to it.
always wanted to see this in action thank you
Me too 😀
Awesome
Cheers 🍻
Good work Paul! Enjoying the drone shots! 👍🏻
Cheers pal 👍
Enjoyed this one being local and eventually finding the time to do it !!
that was good nice good seeing the shunter carrying a good longish train well short for a 66 but tidy for a shunter lol
I didn’t realise the shunter had half the load till I’ve watched it later on
@arthurgrowler5749 ah ok good seeing the shunter being busy lol
Great video Do you teach trainee drone pilots?
Trainee myself !!!
Great to see the yard at workfrom above, its too well shielded from our gaze otherwise.
@john57sharp Lot different from years ago !! Like a lot of places around the network
Why does the train run ? Does the steel go there to be finished ? Or to be turned into an end product ? Is the shunter an ex BR O8 ?
08615 is ex BR at some part of its life. Wabtec supply the shunters for the steel works.
Steel comes up in coils, finished off at shotton. Painted & galvanised products I believe!
i think its for distribution, seems ironic to me that steel coil is being delivered to a place that used to make steel, this needs to stop we need steel production and the push to net zero is making the likes of china the world leaders in steel production at the cost to the west
