Sometimes the barriers are already open or there are no barriers at all (particularly on the DLR). Make sure to still touch in and out in those places. If you arrive eastbound at Royal Victoria, the machines are quite hard to find, especially if you take the lift to the street. You have to walk back towards the westbound platform after exiting to find them.
Yup !
I'll be using my phone to tap in & out while paying the fare at London's Transit there! I've been studying this for a while & thanks for helping me out Jess!
This happened to me last year. It was a packed night at Wembley Stadium, and thousands of people were going through the barrier at the tube station. Because of this, they just had the barriers open, and you were supposed to tap. I tapped, but I guess I didn't make contact as my entry was never registered. I tapped out and then found out the next I day I was charged the entire length of the tube up to where I got off. It cost me £4 going ended up being almost £15 for the return
Tapping in and out is the same here. And believe me you do NOT want to forget. LOL
If you sign in and out, then you’ll only be charged for how much of the journey you took. If you never sign out, you’ll be charged as if you went to the last stop.
Great advice from love and london team all brillant 100% 😊a big fan always ❤️
❤️❤️❤️
Make sure to touch in when changing from Underground to Overground. 😅
So it charges you twice? To enter and exit?
Nope! Just once
If we have four people each with their own phones to tap, can we use the same cc within each apple wallet? We will be covering our young adult children’s transportation costs.
you can yes!
What about children who don't have contactless
It depends on what age the kids are, see more info here: loveandlondon.com/how-to-pay-for-kids-on-londons-public-transport-when-visiting-london/ :)
How do i know where is the nearest tube near my hotel? Do i just google it? 😭 its my first time solo travelling and im scared the subway 🚇 map looks kinda confusing haha
Use Citymapper
Yes Google Maps is a good resource. My fav app is « Transit » sometimes it’s more accurate and detailed depending on the city. Both apps can be used to give you step-by-step instructions and see how long something will take or how far away a bud/train is !
Google maps!
Google maps is your friend! Just follow the directions on there and you can’t go wrong! Just don’t trust the time it will take you bc the walk to the station time often doesn’t include the walk to the platform itself.
Also avoid rush hour if you can, it is hectic!
@@lizhope9050 thank you so much! 🤍 what time is rush hour usually in london?
