Hi Cam, had exactly the same issue with mine, I took mine to VMTP automatic gearbox specialists in the Midlands and had a complete torque converter and gearbox rebuild after trying all other options like you and it has been perfect since, the main problem is that the 722.6 gearbox is really designed for lighter vehicles so it's really working hard in our vans, the guys at the specialist recommended changing the ATF every 10k miles to keep the rebuilt box as healthy as poss. Cost me £2.5k 3 years ago. Good luck my friend 🤞
Hi Simon, I might have found a company to do it, unfortunately the garage I took it to couldn’t lift it in the end. Did you have the shudder and whirring noise or just the shudder? I was quoted roughly the same but I’ll see what this new garage quotes me 👍🏼
@@livinginkevlar No whine on mine but the shudder was like going over a cattle grid especially changing down when on and worse on hills or under any load, the company who did mine offered a modification to lessen the strain on the box but I found it raised fuel consumption and lowered power output so I had it changed back which they did free of charge, gotta take the small wins 😉👍
I live in Liphook… right in between the South Downs and the Surrey Hills! I will be going full time van life as soon as my house sale completes! Southsea sea front you can park overnight, no charges apply from 6pm (can’t remember until when!).
That's interesting to know that the shuddering is the torque converter. I experienced similar problems getting my gearbox serviced. The garage I use sent me to a gearbox specialist who really knew what he was talking about but couldn't get the van in his building, he kindly did the work travelling to the original garage and using their ramps but it took a lot of messing about to arrange a mutually convenient time for them both. Fingers crossed its the cheapest option for you to rectify. looking forward to seeing what you have planned for kevlar.
I hope you two find a good solution to your problems. Maybe you could Jack it up and just try wiggling the wheels to see if it’s a wheel bearing as they can be really loud. I was eagerly awaiting your next thermoelectric generator video, however obviously sorting the problem is your main priority. Stay safe and keep making videos 👌🏼
Thanks for the advice, I’ll give it a go. Unfortunately there won’t be another thermoelectric generator video until autumn time. Ive got lots of ideas just want the cold weather to come back.
Sorry to hear you’ve had to cut your trip short. Hope they sort the gearbox for you and it’s not too pricey. If you ever want to get over to west wales and get up some mountains hit me up or if you want to head this way for some work I always need a hand👍
We love wales and will be over there soon hopefully, the gearbox still needs to be fixed. I’ll let you know when we are over that way and thanks for the offer of work, might need it with the price of these garages 😂
Oh it will be madness if a wheel bearing 😮 yeah watch that Max bloody seeing another husky. Poor Odin 🐺 Don't worry I have not been giving him much shit about it 😅 Take Care Mate. Let's get that beast back on the road ❤
Yeah I don’t want it to just be the wheel bearing! I’d rather it be something expensive 😂 the other husky gets to lay on max’s sofa and bed, I don’t dare show Odin! Haha
We got 5t sprinter and my whining was rear differential bearing i thought was autobox had it overhauled but was rear differential bearings.bk transmission Basingstoke good but they dont take box out on 5t vans or high vans but overhaul
I tried BK but like you said they can’t lift it, I’ve found a garage just inside the m25 but I think it’s actually my wheel bearing after all. It’s in the garage today 👍🏼 cheers
Sad video cam, have yet to make mine. It's the worst leaving scotland!! I'm looking forward to being back! Lucky you with your £90 in fuel, it cost me £150 to get to anglesey haha 😂😂
I’m still not over it! I can’t wait to be back as well. Sadly it won’t be till august when we head back but got some nice trips planned when we are back on the road. Oooo! It looks like Rose will be running smoothly soon though 👍🏼

I know Liphook, not too far from us.
That’s good to know thank you and I hope the house sale goes through smoothly 👍🏼

I’m currently experiencing the same problem but I’ve hopefully found a garage now, let’s just hope the quote is fair, cheers

Weirdly….enjoyed the video…..not meaning your misery but the honesty.
👍👍🤞🤞
😂 I’m glad you liked it, always try to be honest in my videos 👍🏼

So sorry for you guys. Hope it turned out OK.
Hmmm it’s being a bit of a headache at the moment but we will get there 👍🏼
