Hey Chris, I greatly appreciate your insight on hotshoting. I am about to retire from the Coast Guard and I have a 2021 Ram 3500 Dually. I have been thinking about doing this as a side job next. Keep up the great videos.
Ppl r slow bro! I keep hearing do not run your business off the load boards alone and i agree 100%. With that being said, do you take the time to cold call, do you go out to different local businesses and verbally make relationships, leave business cards in commercial & industrial parks, or are these the people uve run loads for in the past and they prefer using you because of your attention to securement, timely delivery, professional appearance etc? Whats your personal approach to these relationships?
You hit the nail right on the head with this! Not sure if you follow me on IG but I preach this 24/7. I feel like I’m the only person who actually went and had brochures & business cards made up & actively goes to local businesses marketing myself along with my services. Crazy part is 40% of my work comes directly from the shipper.
Thanks Chris for all the information you given us it’s really appreciated and in return I’ve just liked and subscribed and will be seeing all your videos thanks Chirs
Good video BUT if the 2 loads your talking about, don’t fit in your tucks, cause your not paying attention to that. Then the money don’t matter either. I get the point tho.
Quick question‼️,in hotshot trucking if I’m a new authority and hire a dispatcher is it possible to get loads 7 days a week and be able to partial ? And for a new authority how much are the loads usually paying ?
this is awesome man. i didn't know sites like this existed. thanks for sharing. maybe do a video on the best sites like this??.. would be interesting i think to see.
Not gona lie but you so much help to be honest im currently a co driver for a friend with lease purchase in a semi truck but i want to start hot shot to start out and grow little by little and move up to a semi cause semi's are a bit expensive and since at home i already got a truck just need a trailer would be best off starting like that for a couple years and move up

Why wouldn’t you wanna get a class a to haul more weight also what is the towing capacity for you’re truck?? I was looking at a truck that had 10k towing capacity isn’t that pretty much the trailer leaving u with around 4K pounds to max out ur towing capacity???
Hey Chris being that you're just starting out and relatively new in this business have you had any trouble being able to book loads especially freight because of your inexperience or lack of a long track record hauling these loads? I have a buddy who is just starting out and has been going about 6 months and he's run into a lot of occasions where the brokers are telling him that he needs like a year under his belt to be eligible for some of the higher paying freight loads as opposed to the cheaper stuff like car hauling. Have you run into anything like that and if so how did you deal with it? Thanks for any feedback you can give.
I like the info👍I tried hotshot about 3 -4 years ago with a friends rig and loved it.. I tried to stay in the West cause it’s so nice driving but I think that killed my profits and of course the truck broke!! I’m 52 and looking to get back in the game. Is it popping now with the supply chain issues I see on the news? Any help much appreciated 👍
I'm in Oregon just starting, i know to just hit the boards and drive. but from the west coast perspective, what are some favorable loads to look for? And yes I will be going wherever I need to, not sticking to here, just asking what do you see, or what I should put in my head when doing it? No truck yet, LLC and paperwork done, waiting on the usdot
Chris quick question. I thought that the new law Feb 7th was saying everyone one the road needed a cdl. If not that may be a good topic to make a quick video on. Thanks bro
Everyone now has to go to CDL school now to get Official CDL this isnt for non Cdl. that what the update is. non cdl is combined weight of your truck trailer & load under 26000#'s over 26000# you must have CDL & go to school
Hello Chris my name is Theo I live in Texarkana Texas but iam moving back to Dallas I have a 2500 ram with a 40 ft gooseneck trailer I am in need of work information.
Thanks my man, I really appreciate the game, I am about to start, but the Gov is making me take additional class. How do you get in contact with a good broker and how do we band together for better payloads?
Hey dude I’m currently 13 but I think a lot about my future my dad and grandpa and most of my family is or have been a truck driver. So I now I’ll be in it too, I was just really hoping that maybe one day we could privately call cuz I wanna ask u some questions
Yo, I originally saw u doin the gun videos which I love too but man I appreciate the game ur given out . I’m from Texas too & been wanting to try this hot shot stuff too but didn’t really know to start but I never thought I’d find someone so helpful for free! Is this ur only source of income?
Hey Chris I just got my cdl this past week got my self a truck and 40’ trailer I’m located in west Texas I’m having trouble finding work what should you suggest I do ?
Hello Chris, I’m new to the dispatching industry ( like 1 month new). I have a carrier that has a hotshot. We are both located in Georgia. I have DAT and 123 loadboard but seem to can’t find any good loads. Any advice ? Also which package do you recommend for truck stop? Thank you for your time and response.
Yeah for hotshots you need TruckStop. That’s where 95% of my loads come from. Go to my hotshot playlist and I have a video there showing how I book my loads. DAT is more for Dry Van/ Power Only work. I pay for the $149 package on TruckStop.
My authority will go active end of this month. Hopefully my trailer will be here by then as well. The paperwork getting started ain’t no joke. Me bing CDL adds a few more steps. Any advice for a brand new authority? What about factoring companies?
it aint easy man ill tell you i use a box truck you should be social with other truckers might lead to a connection or even the shippers talk talk talk dont be shy
Class A. The Federal government requires a Class-A CDL to drive any combination of vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more. This includes a towed vehicle heavier than 10,000 pounds. I do believe it went into effect FEB 7. 2022
I’m not sure but they are pretty sturdy, straight deck will give less weight but I’m not sure how strong the ramps are that comes with those I know you can drive trucks up them though fairly easy.
What up Chris. What do you think about Having 2 factoring companies? I have OTR but some brokers with good credit scores they don’t factor. Thinking about trying RTS as back up.
Yeah I definitely say have options! You’re the cash cow and all these companies from factoring to brokers to dispatchers even maintenance people, need your business to make money. So make them work for it, if they prices are too high, screw them and go to the next. Nothing moves unless we do.
@@ChrisTV1 Thank you bro. I’m in the box truck game. I’ve learned to stop buying fuel from truck stops even though I have their fuel cards. Fuel is always more expensive at these huge money grabbing truck spots.

Yoooo @ChrisTV thanks for the shout my guy. I hope everything on the load board been better.

if your truck and trailer are almost 26k lbs then how much freight can you haul on the trailer as a non cdl?

Hey Chris, with your box truck did you need to take an air brakes test to add an air brakes endorsement to your license?
No, it’s not required in Texas for any vehicle under 26,000lbs GVWR
How much do you take home tho? And is it worth it?
Are you leased under anybody or you have your own authority? If so how bad is the commercial insurance
1800-4k per month
