Hi Paul- I had walked some of the way on the Camino de Santiago in Spain, and did a sketch of a village in the distance from one of my photos. But I had no idea how to really paint it, until I saw this Italian Village tutorial. Well, I followed along, applying your step-by-step teaching to my Spanish town, and I'm really happy to have such a pleasing result from this video and from a great teacher like you! This and your other videos are really making such a positive impact on my life. Thank you!
I’ve always wanted to do the Camino. So great you went. Even part of it is a great idea. I’m old now. Still, what a great adventure with your paints and a pencil. Thanks for the inspiration.
When I first looked at the finished painting I felt overwhelmed thinking where/how would you start? Then you use your Paul Clark magic and you break it down step by step and it's not so scary. You're a very good teacher, Paul. You never cease to amaze me. 😁🎨
You are a master watercolour artist, there is no doubt about that. And what a sense of humour, easygoing style and unpretentious method! I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Thanks.
Hello Paul, have you ever inspired me to get back to watercolour painting...you are just the right mix of Artist/Teacher/ and fun, witty master water colourist!!( In my humble opinion)I’m originally from Sussex funnily enough, and went to Brighton Uni/Poly,way back when. I live in Ontario,Canada now for the past 40 years...Thank you from my heart for the fabulous inspiration!! 🇨🇦
My 12 yr old grandson and I have just begun to paint together. Since the kids aren't attending class at school, but are doing distance learning at home, we have several afternoons each week that we paint. He's as serious about learning as I am and I do believe he is a better artist. We just recently learned of your videos and think they're wonderful. Love the fresh way you present the material and your style suits both of us. You are a talented artist. We would like to say thank you for sharing and teaching us, all the way from Pendleton, Oregon, Donovan and RoxAnne
Hi Donovan and RoxAnne from Oregon! Delighted to be part of your watercolour journey and many thanks for the nice compliment. - keep in touch, more to come!!!
Love, Love, Love this painting Paul, It reminds me of one of my all time favorite movies. Under the Tuscan Sun.... Oh to escape this harsh reality and slip into the dream for just a few minutes... Thank You for adding beauty to our lives! See you next week, God willing!!
You are the best! you are a great teacher. Your joy, your tone of voice and the way you speak is beautiful 😍 It's great to work with your videos Thank you!!
Thanks Paul for sharing your skills to inspire others to produce amazing pictures as you've achieved, thoroughly enjoyable videos and appreciate your calming approach. Thanks greatly stay safe
Your guidance about the quick, sure strokes for the suggestion of windows, regardless of symmetry, is very helpful. Less really is more, and your non-fuss "letting it be" with every painting makes it so much better finished! If I learn one major aspect from you, it'll be this. Thank you ever so much!
@@ArtbyPaulClark of course, it did take me a bit longer :) but it was great and I loved the process. I have learnt to watch through your videos a couple of times, and to prepare all the mixes before starting. thank you so much Paul, I am loving learning from you
You are exactly right about needing the joy and beauty of painting during these troubled times. You've done a great service for many people. Lovely channel. Fun to watch the painting proceed. Thank you.
Paul, many artists could've painted this... but, YOU deserve KUDO's for COLORS!!! My opinion, it's the colors on this painting, that "makes it"! and the sky was the right color, too! Really nice job! You have a great eye, thank you for sharing... I'm bringing up my wine glass to you! LF
Loved the challenge to paint faster. I loved it. My sister came by and saw my my painting and wanted it. Guess I did ok. The experience was awesome. Thank you Paul!!!
This has been one of the most brilliant demos I have watched. Brings amazing clarity around the entire process. It helps in creating confidence in beginners who are always fearful of making mistakes. Very useful. Thanks Paul!
I am totally hooked to your tutorial videos. Watching them feels like a fresh breath of air.... So refreshing. It has been a ritual for me to watch at least one of your video every day. Thanks Paul🙏😊 You are an incredible teacher.
Wow Paul - I am not sure how I just discovered your channel, but none the less, I just watched this and so impressed with your teaching style, humor, and overall good guy attitude. Thank you for taking the time to create this for us. So appreciated. You keep things simple, and a painting that looks really complicated. Cannot wait to try it. And to have a go at your other videos. Just made my day. And yes, another Southern California viewer here!
Thank you dear Paul, once again for this wonderful teaching. Due to sickness I am currently experiencing a difficult family situation and I am trying to do at least one beautiful thing per day to keep my head up during those hard times. When my friend asked me what was my beautiful thing today, I told them that I just started another amazing tutorial with you and I am beyond grateful that through painting along with you I find some space and time just for me, to regain power again. THANK YOU for all you do for your community around the world. Much love from Berlin 🙏🌺
Watching you paint gives me much joy and contentment. After watching so many of your videos I can now picture scenes around me as a watercolor! Thank you for giving so freely of your time and talent. Cheers from Oregon, U.S.!
You make it all look effortless! I've learned more from your videos than any other artist on TH-cam. I used to paint in watercolor and acrylics a lot when I was a teenager, but haven't bothered much since then and now I'm 62. I just might give your techniques a try now. It looks super fun.
Thank you! Just trying this out to help with a cup of coffee for you and Margot. I’ve enjoyed watching many of your lessons, purchased the brushes, and will soon start with trying to do the lessons soon.
I personally like a lot of detail in paintings -- this comes from having a mother and sister who were mad about modern art and I prefer to see what something really is. Abstract art means nothing to me at all. One of the reasons you are such a great instructor is because when you are finished, you have something truly worthy of hanging on a wall. Wish I had your talent!!!
Paul, you are a treasure and a pleasure. Today, I had a 'do over' with this piece. Not in love with either one I've tried but I figure the third time is a charm. Cheers to learning!!! Thanks for your expertise ❤
Hi Paul...you told us to look at Castagnet and Zbukvic's work...really wonderful...a Divine gift...the essence of watercolor...shapes...light...shadows...reflections. ... without details... a set that takes us to pure admiration. I thank you for this tip... let's do it like this: I admire you....and you admire both of them....
- Your painting makes me want to take a stroll and have a sip of Chianti Classico in the village. - How appropriate, loose painting of a slow-paced Italian village with Italian music and wine! It's marvelous story telling in and by itself: After wine tasting at the vineyard, walk down the alley you'll see the village church on the left. Walk past the church, there's a foot path to your right leading to the top of the mountain where you can enjoy a panorama view of the meadow. Lie down on the soft grass and get lost. - Lessons learned today: warm primaries vs cool primaries; less is more. Thank you Paul!
Thank you from 🇮🇹 for your lovely little italian "tuscany"village.... cypresses are typically in tuscany... I love your video and I always waiting for you... I'm learning a lot with your work and painting give me a little bit of serenity, during this dark times... I've take away dust from my watercolour and start again to paint... again thanks to be so good and amazing teacher

Ok. I have been looking for what I could paint for my brother for his birthday. Well, I think this Italian Village is it!!! We are Italian, although I don't look it at all, and I think it is a more masculine painting and would be appropriate for him. Thank you again for sharing your talent. I enjoy your your teaching so much, and you make me laugh!!! Need that these days with all that is going on. Cheers! Diane
