This 89 year old lady has just started painting and love your instructions. And I love your work, thank you for sharing your talents with me.This picture is way beyond my ability so far, but I enjoy watching you work, and I do pick up information I can use at my beginner level. I am awaiting your book and will devote what time I have left to study as you instruct.

Such a stunning painting. Thank you for no bagpipe music. Darn my masking fluid has turned into concrete .... will have to order some in. So going to do this, loved how you did the reflections in the water. I thought the post was a rugby post, I was arrcchh the Scott’s are a hardy bunch running in for a goal under the post sure you hit a wall but get back up and wipe yourself down, lol. Have a great week thank you for a wonderful tutorial. Wonder what sort of fish is in a loch, well apart from a monster ...... um can I add a little monster to the picture? Yeah ...... nah. See you next week and thank you for a water tutorial aww and fishing boats too! Kia kaha Paul.

Ahhh such wonderful music. Despite being full blooded Scot, living in Texas now, and born in Canada… your choice of no bagpipes was a good one. Love them, but… better for war.. and highland dancing… anyway this is just stunning! You really inspire me to give land and seascapes a try. You make it look so easy with such confident brush strokes. Now to dig out all my photos of Scotland and boats…thanks for this. The way you did the reflections was brilliant!

@@ArtbyPaulClark I love the painting too, and the instructions and have tried a few out over the lockdown period(s), if wall to wall bagpipes isn't your thing, try Highland Cathedral, that's quite haunting, but the Celtic music is ok too. Keep up the great work Paul, the odd dram works for me too.

@Paul Clark I love the colours and especially the moody sky. I could listen to bagpipe music for twenty minutes, or for a lot longer. However for a future Scottish theme painting video consider the music of the fiddle player Duncan Chisholm. Or the acclaimed Mairearad Green from her album Passing Places.

Such an idyllic scene ......but I am thinking 🤔 you forgot something Paul! 💭 where are the birds? ‘The dive bombing Seagulls’! ...lol.... I love to place birds in my paintings, whether they are sat on a fence, telegraph wire, perched in a tree or flying high in the sky I think they deserve a place in your serene Scottish fishing boat painting. Which, by the way is beautiful ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 looking forward to your next tutorial. ☺️

Hello from Australia. Quite a while ago I joined a short 6 week watercolour course with our local adult education college, happily I managed to convince my parents; now 77 & 78 years young, to come along with me. Once completed I suggested we continue to get together one night per week, where one of us makes a soup, and whilst eating said soup we watch some youtube tutorials I’ve chosen. Other family members have been joining us more recently, with an average of a 75km round trip to get here, (small journey in Aus really!) we are now joined on and off by sisters, daughters, sons, cousins and partners of all. The amount of soup we now make some nights would feed a small army… and does.
We are now heading into our sixth year of enjoying shared creativity amidst quality family time. Between us we have done hundreds of paintings.
I found your tutorials around 4 months ago and you are a huge favourite for all. Your videos are amusing (priority), you describe and demonstrate so well, and all the extra helpful things like paint list and line drawings on your website just add to our wonderful evenings.
Paul, a huge Thank You from us all for the time you take, your generosity of spirit in sharing your knowledge and just the sheer ‘personableness’ of you is so appreciated.
A very happy and safe 2021 to you and yours.

beautiful painting! and the music too! When I try to put highlights in with white pastel pencils, or white colored pencil, I can't get such nice bright lines. I recognized the melody sung by the girl during your demo. Same one sung by another lady on the movie "Rob Roy", just different arrangement though. Beautiful!! And what do you mean no pipes?? Thank you again Paul for another inspirational demonstration. I absolutely loved your side on figure of 8 drawing of the boat. The whole atmosphere was beautifully captured by your capable planning and execution. I love your confident style and rapport. And all that on just one small glass of cold tea.(least that's what they tell me they use in the movies. Have you ever seen the Scottish Painter Scott Naithsmith's work. His colours are amazing but he is an oil/acrylic painter and uses drones to scan the hills and glens for his work. It was when you were having your wee tipple of Jonnie Walker that it brought him to mind. Love your work and a big thank you again. Slainte☘

Great tutorial! Big fan of the random texturing. keeps out the forced brush strokes and gives a natural "relaxing" look i prefer in watercolor. But for the time being, am watching you do your thing and pretend i am actually doing it, while i make nice puddles of mud on my expensive cotton paper. I shall call it "Study in mud #1,482" one day i will figure it out.

Love your explanations and techniques ( and humour 🙃) creating your paintings , (and absolutely stunning paintings at that ❤) just a question though , if i would like to recreate one of your paintings , would i be in breach of copy rights ? Thankypu and I will keep practising

Oh! The trick for drawing boats... came just in time. I'm making a painting out of a pic a friend took in Greece. The colours are totally off because it's a very old mobile phone, but the scene is gorgeous with white sand and little boats... that I couldn't get around to draw properly. Now I know how. Thank you!

Just discovered your demos etc on TH-cam. Brilliant. I'm relatively new to watercolour painting and I find your demos easy to follow and inspirational. Must admit I prefer Jura as a tipple. Keep them coming

Amazing tutorial, learning indeed alot, plus the music you chose is really relaxing and it helps to enjoy the process and watching you to paint. Thank you again. :) could not wait to see the surprise Wednesday :)

As a beginner, I might finish drawing one boat before going to the next (beginner mistake). Love the way you flick your brush to make the thin lines. I almost enjoyed the music more, just almost, just.

My initial exposure to watercolor was on PBS many (many) years ago from a lovely Irish gentleman who actually shares your last name... he was fond of the bagpipes for his Scottish episodes and while they are fine in small doses... I can't handle twenty minutes of them ;) .

Very nice. I thought you could've put a gull atop one of the poles. The Northern lights are not silly to me up here in Fairbanks, AK. (your vid comment). I was very glad to see you washed in boat reflections of the same colors near the end, was getting worried. Sometimes my mixing pallet blends away the original color intent, so I use them before its too late.

You have an excellent sense of humour too!

I’m enjoying this and I’m taking my time, I haven’t finished yet, but I feel my like my painting has too much yellow reflected into the lake; I think it should have washed it out a bit more and over a smaller space. I tried to lift it and that didn’t work. I don’t know how to fix it, if I reduce if with the blue from the water it will turn green I think. Any suggestions?

    • @ArtbyPaulClark
      @ArtbyPaulClark  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Tricky one James - you can always try and lift out with a damp tissue but depends on paper and paint you are using ... dare I say it, but sometimes I just start again!!!
