Arguably more famous than most of the riders, a legend.
Been watching the tour since about '92 - '93 when I was 4-5 - and have looked out for the Devil every year - always happy to see him on the TV. Keep it up Didi!

I was thinking he didn't get to TDF 23 but I happy to see him on the coverage 15/7. I'd read his health and no sponsorship were going to keep him away. More power to you Didi and keep going even if you have to do it in a wheelchair. It's not a real tour without you.
Always tickles me seeing this fella and I enjoy spotting his trident on the road and waiting to catch a glimpse of the legend. Il get a selfie with him one day I hope!
Thank you for this story. I've been a fan of cycling since the Tour Dupont days. With Stage 1 of the 2023 Tour in the books, he appeared on my television again. I wondered who this man is, where he comes from, etc. Now I know and long live the Devil at the Tour!

I watched my first full Tour in 2009, and I remember the devil. So many stages. He's one of the myriad of things that make the Tour great

Always looking out for "the devil" on the brutal climbs! lol. After all these years, I somehow didn't realise it was just this one guy! I thought the devil was a character that random fans decided to play on the mountain stages. This guy is incredibly cool. Great story, and a great character!
