    Hi Luke,
    I make a habit of stripping mine cleaning and regreasing mine a couple of times a season. Takes about an 1hr including the oil in the gearbox.
    They have a bad reputation but it's solely down to neglect and lack of maintenance. Can't believe you tried to salvage those bearings! They're well beyond repair and the hassle in my opinion🙈🙉
    I now file out the holes on the gearbox gaurd as they scrap the ground from new. Raising them up abit stops all the wear on them without loosing the protection. Certainly can't notice the lack of contact in the strip.
    👍😉

      Hi I won’t be keeping this mower so I wanted to fix it for as little as possible also I wanted it done so waiting for parts was going to put me back, but i agree in an ideal world I would have put new bearing in but they are ok now and will last a good while. After I loosened them up there was no play in the what so ever. Your 100% right about the maintenance these should be serviced at least every year but lots of repair places don’t bother, but like you say it’s about an hours works. Good tip about the guard 👍 Thanks for watching 🙂👍

      Hi i do like a challenge and this roller system was certainly a challenge 😩 I could have gone the easy way and got new bearings but I wanted to prove I could un seize them and I did succeed in the end 😃 Thanks for watching 🙂👍

    Won't the WD-40 just attack and break down all the pre packed grease in the bearing? For the sake of 20quid it's better to pop new bearings in. I use 2 large coach bolts with a coupling nut in the middle to make a removal tool and just drive the bearings out of the socket in the roller with a hammer. Works a treat 👌

      Hi perhaps but I wanted to prove I could free them up also I like to show people you can get by without spending money,plus I’d rather keep the £20 in my pocket 😂 I’m sure they will last a good while I think all the grease had long gone how seized they were. I have fitted new bearings to these in the past I just used my dads bearing press that worked ok, but your idea does sound good. Thanks for watching 🙂👍

    Luke, I would have done it just the way you did, those bearings will last a long time after cleaning them up, another good vid...

      Hi Barry, well in an ideal world I would have put new bearings in, but I wanted it done so didn’t want to wait also it does save a bit of money which is always good 😂 I agree I think they will last a long time, they weren’t worn just got seized if they were running really fast it might have be different but they will be ok. Thanks for watching 🙂👍

    Put a new drive cable on mine and it’s juddering/requires a bit of a push to get it driving. Currently have my rear roller dropped out- seemed to be way to much slack cable after installing the new cable to I’m wondering if the lever that connects to the gearbox was positioned wrong. Have you come across this issue before?

    • @menditman2004
      @menditman2004  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi the lever that bolts on to the splined shaft out of the gearbox can crack so it doesn’t grip properly, it’s worth checking as it’s quick to check that. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t something inside the gearbox. But look at the easiest things first. I have got videos of how to fix the common dog clutch issues on these which when worn causes juddering. Let me know how you get on 🙂👍

    Luke I don’t understand I Watch you guys trying to pull things off of shifts without polishing the shift first can you give me a good reason why you guys do that in that manner

    • @menditman2004
      @menditman2004  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Henry good point, personally I would say I’m a bit impatient and want to get it all apart, I have though in the past sprayed WD40 and got light sand paper to clean the shaft up on this one I just didn’t bother and even though it was a bit Rusty it came off ok. End of the day it’s an old mower I didn’t know whether I could fix or not, if it was say a part on the Lambretta I probably would put more time into it. Thanks for watching 🙂👍
