Interviewer: 'So Gollum, are you excited about this project?'
Gollum: (In sunglasses and gold chain.) "Oh yesssss, Precious, we wants to makes sequels, yesssss, most definetly. My fans is always asking. We knows how we is loved, thank you for asking."
Interviewer: 'What roles will you be taking on in addition to your acting?'
Gollum: (Lighting up a cigar and holding a glass.) "But we's always wanted to direct and show my moves, I's be doing a dance number I's choeographs - we's so excited and been rehearsing for weeks! (Shows example of some funky rhythym steps, boogieing in 3/4 time.) "That's just a teaser Precious, I gots some surprise moves - you just waits for it Precious!"
Please no more CGI orcs or goblins. If it's humanoid, costumes work so much better. That's the magic of the original trilogy.

I think the expectation for that would be too big, and Peter Jackson or someone else isnt yet dare to try it.

In my lifetime I hope to see this adaptation done to perfection! So many great stories in Silmarillion
For those interested, this story occurs in FOTR between the time Gandalf leaves (“Keep it secret, keep it safe”) and later returns (“Is it secret, is it safe?”)
This took 17 years in the book.
With such memory for exact wordings 17 years apart, Gandalf would have made a great girlfriend
even tho they got andy serkis (you literally cannot recast gollum, nobody can perfect that character like andy serkis can) i still think this is gonna blow

i hope they keep viggo! but 20 years later they a little older now... however Viggo is a director, musician, and photographer so it would be REALLY cool if he played a role in the production of the film!

@@factorfantasyweekly This is why they have de-aging technology. Aragorn may only have a few parts because of it though. I'm thinking Gandalf will be the main protagonist.

It is a vast world, there can be a vast film franchise. It could even be good.

I don’t know if it will be great or not, but it’s not going to be a half-baked train-wreck like what Amazon made.

I thought the hunt for gollum was when Legolas ended up in Rivendell for the Council of Elrond.

Shit man, this is going to be weird, there is so little written by JRRT about this. They are going to make shit up, & shoehorn a whole lotta events to make sense of it. Just adapt The Silmarillion, there are some five great movies in it.
It's beyond me why nobody tries that! As Middle Earth was more epic, big and magical back then it's a good excuse to use cgi and make everything more flashy and spectacular than the og films.
And the stories of the silmarillion, despite having a full structure, leave a lot of room to wiggle so they can do whatever they want.

I totally agree but I think the problem is that they don't have the rights for the silmarillion so they have to pick something that is in the lotr or hobbit books.

I remain cautiously optimistic. I was NOT happy with his treatment of The Hobbit so I'm not sure how I feel about this new announcement.
It's honestly impressive how decent the hobbit is considering the situation. It was originally being directed by Guillermo de Toro. He had very little pre production time so he had to rely on CGI. The script was also written before he took over so he could make edits, but the structure of the plot was already determined. If they give PJ the time/resources to cook I trust he will create something great.
Idk why gollum has been a recent main focus for content, i mean it's interesting, but LOTR has so many other pontential ways to continue middle earth lore or go over its history
Other than his role in lotr, Gollum is the least interesting character in middle earth to me. The obsession with him is so annoying

Aragorn would be virtually the same age he is in the movies. It only takes place within the last 16 years between when Bilbo's birthday party happened and when Frodo set out
@@calebmcurby8580 So he'd be 71 ... that is younger. Not a lot, but some. and given the Dunedain (sp?) that could make a difference in his appearance ... which could excuse a slightly younger actor. or not.

The LOTR trilogy is as close to perfection as you can get, in my opinion. The Hobbit trilogy was a ridiculous mess of confusing conflicting tones, terrible overused CGI and was nothing like the book. The rings of power is... 🤢. Diminishing returns. Can we just leave Middle Earth alone? At least for a bit? 😔

I don't get why Hollywood always has to dig up old stories. There's multiple eras to explore with Lord of the Rings but instead we're going back to where we were 20 years ago. Why?
Uncreative people in creative positions. Plus, and probably more of a reason. And im serious. Cultural marxism. Make new versions of okd things, erase the old things, say old things never existed. Call all that say old thing existed racist, sexist, etc.

Because Gollum is one of, if not the most identifiable characters from LOTR. For many people, the first thing that comes to their mind in connection to LOTR is ‘my precious’ or ‘Gollum Gollum’. They know the masses will flock to see this in the cinema, it’s about getting bums on seats. It’s gonna suck, possibly even more than the hobbit. Wouldn’t be surprised if they forced a Gollum love story into the plot like they did with Tauriel😂
For real bro you have Balrogs, Dragons, beautiful stories already laid out like Beren stuff, the first elves exiled, numenor atlantis type of thing, the creation and loosing of the silmarils...All with a lot of details missing so you can easily fill up with whatever crap you want to sell or do whatever type of movie you want.
So WHY they have to always go with the crappiest ideas?? Keep recasting old actors and characters into less interesting stories than the originals they were in 🤦
I get it's all a money grab and they consider people cattle that need familiarity but it's LOTR! It already have a fanbase and expectation, couldn't they just make a new marvel type epic trilogy with the actual lore?? Wouldn't that grant even more money??
Id rather they release the 21.5 hour cut of the original trilogy

Hell yes! Peter Jackson is probably the only one I would trust to do this right. Especially after the utter travesty that was The Rings of Power, a show so nauseatingly awful that it almost made me give up on fantasy altogether.
Cant replace LOTR...but ...it may be worth a watch....

It's a shame that they'll probably have to recast Viggo, since he's age a fair bit since LotR, and they're DEFINITELY going to have to recast Ian. That man is far too old to be playing Gandalf on the hunt for Gollum, sadly.

I want to see a black Bilbo, gay Gollum and Aragorn, and hopefully a black and progressive LGBTQIA+ lore rewrite, I had to drop the books and movies due to them not being diverse enough

I'm sorry but i have no interest in treading ground in that time. We got enough of that story with Gandalf riding to go read scrolls then throwing the ring in fire to read the inscription. A story about them looking for Gollum isn't as exciting as literally ANYTHING Else. Just seems like a waste of a few years and I'm sure a decent budget.
I don't think it's a big enough storyline to base a film on. Whereas stories from the Silmarillion would be a goldmine. Don't think I'd want to watch it even though I've loved Tolkiens work for much longer before the Peter Jackson films came out.
