@DAILY OBSERVER Armed officers require a lot more than an 8-hour course. Many class and range days accompanied by a full FBI and DOJ Live Scan background investigation and a 160 questions psych evaluation conducted by the state. Then there are yearly continuing education class hours required. This is just to get your state certification and does not include specific employer training. I put about 6 months and 4 grand into getting my exposed firearm permit and guard/patrol certs. With a specialized military background there is a lot more money to be made in armed private security contracts than with the local PD.

I've been certified in CA and in PA as an armed guard, CA cost me about $600 for my BSIS exposed firearms permit (that's with fingerprints amd required paperwork). PA was paid for by Brinks for my ACT 235 but It generally costs around $750-1000 depending on where you go. 4 grand? That's Police Academy prices man.
It's micromanagement if you are working with a manager that A. doesn't fully trust you will do your job. B. A bad manager altogether. In this case, leave asap. All in all, GPS is everywhere. It depends on how it is used.

@@bluesky4705 if you detain someone until they are arrested then its the same thing. Guards actually have to go through hand cuff training. We literally arrest and do everything besides take them to the station. What's the difference there that you felt entitled to point out?
