I wonder how the game would have turned out if Lowenthal had played F8 (knight) with check at 9:55. Black would have to move the king and then white could protect the bishop. Black could not move his king to C6 for he would be in check from the Bishop. Could not move the king to D8 or E7. If the king was moved to D6 a queen check on D8 would lose his queen. He could move to C8 safely and then White could protect the Bishop by king to G3. Black would have no check on the next move.

An addendum to my previous comment of blocking the black's queen check with the bishop... Sure, queen can take G4 with check, but if you move King to F2 that would not only block black's now freed pass pawn but also blocks queen to E2 check... king would take the queen. Sacrificing the bishop would be worth it to save the pawn about to be a queen on F7. It all depends on that. Sacrificing the bishop would be your only chance of recovery. He might not take the bait, and take with the pawn or queen, but if he did, the game would be over, because Queen to E8 CHECK gains the second queen, and one lone queen working alone cannot put a king in checkmate (stalemate maybe).
