  • Welcome to the Quilting Bee!
    Our first episode is a Trunk show of my finished quilts as well as a bit of an intro into the quilting side of my brain. I hope you enjoy. Every quilt has a story and it was so much fun to go through everything and remember.
    It is a bigger episode than the regulars will be as there is much to explore- so sit with a project

    I wish I could comment along with the video so I could say all the things I want to say LOL. Your mentality on quilting is the exact same as mine! I love pieced backings. It’s a great way to add detail to the back while using up as much of the fabric in the quilt as possible to reduce scraps. And you’re right, sometimes things need to go into timeout and when the right time comes, you’ll know. I’ve had a few quilts that I was like ugh I hate this. Came back to it and even if I still didn’t love it, I’ve found that someone always wanted it, they are always so thankful I said-you can have it. Your perspective on batiks is interesting. I’ve never loved them and I really shy away from them, but maybe I should rethink that! I hope you keep making more of these! I love to see what other people are working on. It gives me so much inspiration.

    Fabulous video!!! So looking forward to sharing your quilting journey…curious if you are currently working at a quilt store…I’ve always thought it would be so fun (except for the weekend hours) but my paycheck would definitely be negative. Would love to hear more about your fabric storage…looks like bins of like “styles” fabric. I have a ton of designer specific bundles and have been contemplating pulling them apart and storing by color similar to Susan Ache…but very hesitant…I rarely make a pattern as designed…tend to tweak…love patterns with variety vs. repetitive blocks although repetitive blocks can be meditative! Thanks for sharing…absolutely love your videos, your positive attitude and enthusiasm! Thank. You!

    Love seeing you quilts. They are absolutely gorgeous. You sure are busy between quilting and cross stitching! I would love to know how you can quilt all your big quilts on your home machine. I have done several on my home machine including king and queen size, but it sure takes a toll on your body. I cannot afford to send them out to be quilted but have sent out a couple and it was such a joy when they came back and I only had to do the binding, which I love doing. Any tips for home machine quilting to make it a little easier. Love your enthusiasm and flosstube.

    Your work is AMAZING! I love that you are quilting them yourself on your home machine, it is hard to find a youtuber that does that very often. I like to machine quilt but I only dare to do straight line quilting. You have inspired me to venture out! Question.....what is the width of your binding? I would also like to sew to the front and stitch in the ditch to secure the back but I am fearful that I wont catch the fabric. I am so happy that you are incorporating quilting into your channel and cannot wait for the next one! Happy Stitching!

    • @LaladeeStitches
      @LaladeeStitches  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much! I cut my bindings 2.5 inches. I have only had a few times where my binding didn't catch- and that is always on my project bags which are a bit thicker. I do use wonder clips, but only a few at a time as I have found it easier to wrap the binding over as I go. I found I had a bit of a learning curve, my stitch line was not always straight on the first few bindings, but the binding WAS stitched down, so I went with it. I think the weight of the quilt gave it wobbles. Anyway- I am rambling now, haha- Happy stitching!

Tula... she has a happy corner of my heart. I am so excited for her new safari line this year! Favorite shop.... I have only been to two so far and they are both good- Quilting Mayhem has the most diverse selection so far though. 😊
