You are a breath of fresh air! Love your videos, quilt and flosstube. It's great that you can laugh at yourself. Your quilts are beautiful! You are a busy lady and get so much done. It takes me a while to get one done, but that's OK. No rush, not a race. Stay the way you are! I need the smiles I get watching you.

I cannot tell you how many times I gasped and said "WOW!" I watch your flosstubes and enjoy them very much, now I must add the quilting ones to the watch list. I am not really a quilter but I was enthralled anyway. Your chatty bits are the best, keep talking....I love hearing about the whys. Meander as much as you like. I have done a Sunbonnet Sue with scraps of this and that and a Lake Tahoe scene for my brother who backpacks and camps. When you talked about the trees on the Sasquach quilt I got a chill. That was exactly the way I felt about the trees I did on the Lake Tahoe quilt.

I enjoyed your quilt video. I’m not really a quilter-I’ve designed and made two quilts for my sons. They have worn out and fallen apart as the boys grew up. But it was never my jam. The part of quilting I really enjoy is hand quilting. I always wanted to quilt a whole cloth/one piece or whatever you call it but I have had chronic problems with my back so that doesn’t seem like a good idea anymore. My mom loved quilting and made absolutely beautiful quilts so I am enjoying your quilts and your enthusiasm! Looking forward to your next quilt-tube.🌻

Here I am watching again. You are a very talented quilter. Great eye for color. I am older than you and a quilter but it’s been a number of years since I’ve sewn. I won’t go into all reasons now. I have given our daughter my 930 Bernina that I’ve been told is a work horse. I got a brand new Bernina a bit before Covid. Still in the box! My husband is renovating part of our house, my sewing room small, and he was going to buy a sewing table. Realized it wouldn’t fit in room. He was also going to build a sewing table for new machine. He ended up having a heart attack, basically recovered but has less strength. My sewing room is too full to sew in. I miss it, and I hope to get back to it. And cross stitching. I am having some health problems too. I am a huge fabric lover. I like simple quilts, especially scrappy. I’m don’t like complicated piecing, too hard to me. I’l quit talking for now. I have just loved watching you. I find joy in dreaming and watching. Still hope I can get back into dong! In the meantime, thank you for joy you brought me. I worked part time in a quilt shop too. I have Jo Martin books. Plus many more books and patterns! ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌲🌲

I hope you can get back into the doing as well! I wish I could come help with your room! Hugs. Thank you for joining me in the meantime. 🥰 Your daughter is lucky! 930's are from that generation before computer boards and they just keep going!! Grandma had an 1130 that still is good as new, after decades of use. Beautiful machine.

I love the way you are showing us into your quilting world. I agree that there seems to only be tutorials. I like how you are talking about each quilt similar to how you show us your FlossTube projects.
I really love quilts and started making my own when I was 16 yrs. I asked all my girlfriends to give me their scraps from sewing and I used those. That was in 1971 when girls sewed a lot of their school clothes. I was so silly. I sat on my bedroom floor and used my mom's portable sewing machine. (yes I did take sewing in school and I also put a needle right through my finger 😂) But all through these years I have sewn quilts that I like. I didn't even know that there were patterns you could buy. I went to the museum of History in Los Angeles where they were having a quilt show. I sketched the patterns on paper that I liked. Then I went home and tried to replicate them. I did ok. I've made quilts for family but mostly for myself. I made a beautiful king size quilt all pieced and quilted for my husband and I. Well I caught my 2 year old son sitting on my bed and coloring my quilt with a Sharpie. I about died. I couldn't wash that out. But over the years of washing the sharpie is gone. It took many years, that son is now 44.
Now I have one quilt cut out and pieced. I used bright colors along with dark colors. I just made up the pattern.
I so admire your complicated patterns and the colors are just beautiful. The last quilt you showed was so pretty and playful. I love it. Some of the mountains to me looked like Bee Skeps. Especially the yellow ones. I can't wait to see your next quilt video next month. Blessings to you.

I gasped with the finger story! My Grandma told me of a similar event. (cringe)😱
My Grandma taught me the way she learned- to find the shapes and work out how it all came together like a puzzle and it is alway a surprise to me when people don't "disect" quilts that way. I love to draw up my own designs and ideas. It is liberating! Aaaaand probably why I have a hard time doing patterns "as shown". 😂
Oh I loved this comment- I just want to sit and sew and chat with you. Thank you for sharing! 🥰

It was so much fun watching you talk about your quilts in the same way you talk about your cross stitch. Beautiful projects all around! 🥰
I have done some quilting in the past, but knitting, crocheting and cross stitching occupy most of my brain and spare time. At some point you just got to admit that you can't do everything 🤷‍♀️ (and still get things done, if you know what I mean). But don't take me to a quilt shop - I'll still buy all the fabrics 😂. Love all the ones you showed and have added a couple to my ‘gotta do’ list. Maybe you can show pictures of some of the baby quilts you have done, or maybe I need to find you on IG, lol. I have 4 wips already but all using different techniques EPP, applique, FPP, hand piecing and machine piecing. I think my cross -stitch multi project tendancy spilled over into quilting already. I like to just work on one thing until I complete a section/step/there's a natural pause point/ or something new and shiny comes along.

Hi Laura, I’m one of your flosstube subscribers but a quilter as well so I was thrilled to hear you were going to have a quilting channel as well. I was not disappointed. Lovely quilts and such knowledge. I’ve been quilting since the early 90’s and it was my main hobby, then I started knitting and spinning and cross-stitching.. and moving and building a house lol I have a beautiful craft room in my house and love getting lost in my fabric. I’ve been trying to finish some quilts that I started quite awhile ago.. mainly tops I need to quilt. I do my own quilting as well and really enjoy it though I admit to often struggling with how I want to quilt. But once I do I love the rhythm of free-motion quilting. I’ve always been a Bernina gal but have to say that I love my Juki straight stitch machines for quilting now. Beautiful stitch and larger throat so easier to get all that fabric under lol I’m so glad you have started this channel and I look forward to your next episode. Suzette

🥰 It can be so touch to choose a design, I fall into the basic stipple a lot. lol. A bigger throat would be sooo nice. With my 200 down I have flirted with the idea of upgrading it but oh my the $$$. One day! 😁

@@LaladeeStitches I agree that good machines can be pricey. I think when I got my 2nd Juki last year it was about $1300. Not nearly as pricey as Bernina’s! And 8 do like Bernina machines..I’ve had my share of them lol

I enjoyed this video very much!!! Even though I am not a quilter, I enjoy to look at other people's work and I always, always admire, and I admit, I feel a bit jealous, about how good you combine colors and shapes!!! I would like to learn how to quilt at a point, but I don't think I would actually pick it up as a hobby.
I liked a lot the "Holiday Herringbone" table runner, as well as the "Peppermint Candy" table runner in the colors you had made it. I really loved the one with the big white/creamy flowers, the one that was a free chart, and of course both the Halloween ones, and the one with the little houses, they were so beautiful. I also liked a lot the one that was saying, "For these I give thanks", in the middle, the one with the flour jar in the middle, and the one with the hearts, were also amazing!!! Not that I didn't like the rest, but those, and I am sure I am forgetting to mention a couple of them, I really, really, really liked!!! Amazing work, looking forward to the next episode 😊🪡🧵

Hi Laura. I have just found you on flosstube and although a dressmaker and crossstitcher for decades, I haven't quilted.
Loved your quilt parade. Stunning. Thank you for sharing.
Do you have any recommendations for a novice that would like to dip their toe in the quilting water? 😅❤

Thank you so much!! I would first say, if you can make clothes, you can quilt! The process is a bit different, but you can totally do it! Be fearless, don't let people tell you anything is "too hard". I have seen people do incredibly advanced projects as their first and pull it off beautifully, because that is what inspired them to start! I believe that the motivation, patience, and a well written pattern will take you far. There are some really good beginner books out there. I will share my favorites in my next Quilty episode, as I seem to be typing a novel! lol :)

@@LaladeeStitches thanks so much....I noticed there is a whole library of quilting books, so a recommendation or two would be wonderful. 😁

Yay! Glad to see more of the video. I had a question, what batting do you use? I love the drape of your quilts!

100% Cotton, always. 😊 I love Quilter's Dream Batting. I would love to try a wool batting one day, but they are pricy.

@@LaladeeStitches awesome! thank you. I don't think I have tried the quilters dream. So I will have to check it out. I have also been wanting to try wool. Let me know if you end up trying it!

I loved all your quilts! I too I’m a Jen kingwell fan. I was wondering if you also made your shirt? It’s cute is there a pattern?

Thank you- it is a thrift store find! I plan to take it apart and make a new one though when it wears out. It is the most comfortable and lovely shirt through Spring and Summer.

What is the name of the pattern and designer of the quilt you are making bigger?

    • @LaladeeStitches
      @LaladeeStitches  ปีที่แล้ว +1

It is based off of an antique quilt: The pattern is The Pierre Block. I am working from October 2005 American Patchwork & Quilting magazine issue where it was featured. 😊
