  • THE BOSS AUDIO BCPA9 HEAD UNIT is a great budget friendly automotive stereo.
    For less than $300.00 bucks this radio can bring almost any vehicle into the modern era.
    When I saw these types of head units for the first time, I questioned how well they would adapt to older vehicles like my 1999 Toyota Landcruiser Hundred Series.
    Honestly I am shocked by how well this Radio has integrated into my Land Cruiser interior and how well it functions with this aging vehicles electronic system.
    As some of you might know I searched high and low for a radio that would work and look nice in my Land Cruiser. After literally months of searching I finally found it! IMHO
    This is THE BEST AFTERMARKET LAND CRUISER RADIO!
    OMG AND THE LANDCRUISER PASSED 400K MILES!!

    I agree with the electric vehicle comment. My land cruise is at 366,000 miles. I really don’t see the point in buying another car other than gas mileage. But I’m not too worried about it to sell my baby

    Hey I have this same unit and tried installing into the exact same year 100 series. Im getting a quiet fuzz coming through the speakers and a couple loud pops and thuds when i turn the vehicle on. Did you end up bypassing the factory amplifier or anything else? I made a custom wiring harness to fit the 21 pin connector to the wiring harness that comes with the Boss unit. Just wondering how you got yours to work perfect and/or if theres something you think i may have overlooked.
    Thanks!

      My 100 was already rewired for an aftermarket head unit by the previous owner. I am pretty certain the signals are passing through the OEM amp. I would try changing your power down delay to get rid of the popping.

    Questions, what model years are your LC's and after having them for a while would you have prefered a different model year series 100? Thanks, and I love your videos. I'm about to get a LC but on the fence of getting a 100 or a 200.

      We have a 1999 and a 2005. I prefer the 1999 because its easier to install an aftermarket radio, the suspension is so plush( mine came with Bilstein shocks), factory rear locker and the sets are super extra comfy. The 2005 has better throttle response, ATRAC, better acceleration and braking and some really interesting hidden features. I like the 2005 but i love the 1999. It’s hard to choose one over the other.

      Not sure if you have bought yet but can answer any questions you have. I have a 2005 LC and had a 2021 LC for a year. When prices increased dramatically sold the 200. From a performance perspective the 200 is better in every way, I do like the styling a bit more on the 100.

    Is the fitment the same for later lc100? I have an 05 and I'm looking to upgrade mine

    • @KRTLyfe
      @KRTLyfe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends, if your head unit is the older style it works. On our newer LC the 05, the climate control is integrated with the Head Unit so the options are different.

    Did you need a wiring harness? If so what did you buy? Also what bracket did you buy for the hidden storage area?

    • @KRTLyfe
      @KRTLyfe  ปีที่แล้ว

      My vehicle already had a wire harness from the previous owner. The storage area I had laying around and modified it slightly to make it work.

    Anyone know if Boss Media has a solution that works on 2005 100 Series?

    • @KRTLyfe
      @KRTLyfe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have the newer radio version it could possibly work, but to my knowledge it wont be plug and play like my scenario.

    Would this work in a 2000 LX 470? I’ve heard there’s issues upgrading the radios that were OEM Nakamichi

      Unfortunately, I don’t have a definitive answer. You might want to try IH8mud.

    sucks my 04 can't be equally swapped out due to the HVAC being combined with everything

      There is another radio on the market that is made to be plug and play for the models with integrated HVAC. We will make a review once we get our hands on one.
