@Naztalgic_Memories Yeah, Warrior was most definitely the worst class in previous versions. Strong and with good equipment choices but VERY slow, expensive to outfit & didn't earn any MP at all. It's Defense would often lag behind much faster, more useful classes due to the very low Agility, despite having better equipment. In the old games Defense was based on the Agility stat. Thus classes like Thief were ultimately much, much better. Thief was pretty broken in the SFC and GBC versions. They also had the highest MP growth of any class in the game which is just crazy, making them easily the best class to transition a Mage, Priest or even Sage into. The Thief's stats & equipment choices were overall better than the Sage, and they didn't have the crazy EXP level requirements. So ya, you can see how utterly broken they were lol. As for Offense, any class that can equip Whips or Boomerangs have a HUGE advantage, and I hear they're even better in this version lol. In previous games Thieves could equip the biggest variety of these weapons. For those who can equip them, it makes little sense to ever have anything else equipped in their weapon slots, even if the power is a lot less. @@skins4thewin Ahhh I see. Kinda weird the devs released something so broken haha Yeah I learned that soon in my playthrough and I abused it I see. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of the older versions Skins 👍
@Naztalgic_Memories Lol well lots of games or RPG's have broken abilities & classes that are way better than other options. It's not that uncommon really. But for those who like to have the best of the best, Thieves were definitely it. Sounds like things may have been changed up though with the all the new abilities added to most classes. Also sounds like Stats work differently in this game... I really need to look into that. THAT would be a great video to make by the way! Thieves are not present in the OG NES version tho, only the Remakes that came after. The NES version was the most balanced (and easily the toughest). They added a LOT of things that made the game significantly easier in the Remakes.
@Naztalgic_Memories SO I looked into it a bit & Stats do indeed work differently now. Defense used to be based off of your Agility stat, so Classes with super high Agility like the Thief got HUGE Defensive boosts! Not so anymore... Now the Resilience stat determines it. Before the Resilience stat only affected your HP growth. This certainly changes the mechanics of this version of the game DRASTICALLY! This SHOULD mean that Warriors will be much better now & Thieves no longer brokenly good like they were before. Am very anxious to try this game out & see how everything has changed! I played the previous versions of this game religiously, so the change will be interesting. I'll have to change all my previous strats as far as class changing goes! On another note, I bet the Vamp/Sexy personality will no longer be considered the best, considering the Agility stat doesn't matter near as much anymore. For Warriors specifically I bet other Personalities will be better. For Magic classes tho I bet Vamp is still the best.
Thanks for this guide, extremely useful for know what skills you want and when to change classes/vocations. As for the file I am working on, I will change my Merchant to a Thief around lv. 24-26 for the one skill, my Monster Wrangler after getting 50 monsters and Boulder toss, and my Mage to a warrior after getting Kaboom. Also, for the Merchant to Thief, will change to a martial artist after either getting Snoop or Persecutter. That should make the team hopefully work pretty well. Yeah, I will miss out a couple of skills with Monster Wrangler, but becoming a Sage to be able to cast 2 spells should make up for it.
@@Naztalgic_Memories Thanks for the great suggestion. Starting with a Merchant with a new file still in the beginning of the game, so I can take your advice and have an excellent utility party member that can hit hard late in the game. May want to make sure to save MP and/or Wisdom seeds and change at level 20 with all 3 classes. Got a Priest and most likely change to a warrior so he survives, is able to hit well and heal without healing himself. Some guides say to change the Priest's job after getting Zing, but I rather wait until I get insulatle/kazing. Then again, once I change my Gadabout into a sage, it seems pointless. Any advice? If not, I will decide the way I will play it, if I get around to it. Last, got a Gadabout and going to challenge myself to raise her to level 44/45 to get all the useful abilities before making her a sage.

Wow.... So Dig is just as broken as it ever was?? In previous games it was a STUPID EASY way to get INSANE amounts of Gold for basicslly no effort other than time. I seriously can't believe they included it in this game! The fact that it's still free to use is just crazy. It alone makes the Merchant worth having! That is, if it indeed still can give you insane amounts of Gold on occasion like it did in previous games... Don't want to just assume that it does. Have you actually seen this happen?
According to data it's 1/255 so it's not something that'll happen often unless you have a lot of patience. Gold was useless to me. I played on Draconian Difficulty and I only bought like six items. The game gives you one of each item as long as you explore.
@Naztalgic_Memories OH wow really? Where did you get all of your equipment then? Were you not regularly upgrading your characters gear? Usually in these games you want to outfit all your characters w the best equipment you can as you reach each new town, that's sort of always been the gameplay loop of DQ games, but if equipment can be found a lot more now then that is VERY interesting! Or perhaps the game is just much easier now so it's no longer required? I've never played a DQ game where Gold wasn't vastly important, so this should be very interesting! As for the 1/255 thing, it doesn't take long at all to spam the ability, so you will end up triggering it in no time. Yes, it does take a bit of patience but the reward is just insane. By that I mean I had to basically use every point of MP to get my win. I walked away with nothing left so perhaps if I had bought the best equipment in the shops this wouldn't have happened? Besides that I beat every boss on my first try which I have in a video on the channel. Interesting. @Naztalgic_Memories Oh!! That does sound pretty good actually. If that's true about finding good equipment in the wild then that would definitely reduce the gold you need for sure. I haven't started this game quite yet so I can't comment, but once I do I'll be able to get a better idea of how it works. In the Remakes for SFC & GBC, it was the Pachisi tracks that had the truly good stuff! But even then you needed lots of Gold, cus the best stuff was found at the secret shops within each Pachisi track. In previous titles you did not find free equipment very often at all, you had to buy the vast majority of it. Sounds like that has changed now! Nice to hear it.
@Naztalgic_Memories As for Dig, you are right about the 5 uses. It's been a while so I forgot lol. However, you can circumvent this by simply doing your digging right by the entrance to an area. Exit after 5 digs, dig 5 more times, then enter the new area, dig 5 more times, leave, etc etc til you hit paydirt. It just limits you to 5 digs per area, so if you leave the area you're in it will reset. In previous installments you could also find items with it that were taken from the drops of the enemies in said area. Thus this could also be a way to get multiples of rare monster drops!! Not sure if it still does that or not, but man that'd be cool if it did!
Because most people care about the Abilities and Skills for Vocations that can change. The Hero is always with you so it didn't feel that important to include. You learn all their skills by Level 45
@Naztalgic_Memories I think it's safe to assume most ppl want to know about ALL the classes, including Hero. I'm not sure what changing classes has to do with it. The Hero is every bit as important as the other classes. This is still the best list I've seen anyone make, so Bravo on that! It's just missing the Hero info is all.
So the Priest & Mage are the only ones that didn't get the new Abilities it seems.... Makes them less useful in this game compared to other classes I think. Or I suppose it just means that they are less necessary than they were in the previous titles.
