If you are wondering how zaheer could fly he was no longer bound by earthly tethers hes partner pi'lii died wich was hes only tether so he was no longer bound he became weightless and free.
I LOVE Korra and Tonraq's complete trust in each other while fighting together. They are so in synch! And when Tonraq comes in with the ice blade, he is ready to k!ll. It reminds me of Zuko and Sokka on the gondola at the Boiling Rock
Zaheer's gf died. And that was kind of his earthly tether. After her death, zaheer had nothing to be bound to. He had to let go of his attachment to her in order to fly. Both him letting go of her and jumping without care for his own life means he found true freedom. And that enabled him to fly.
the exhilarating feeling you get from these last three episodes of s3 (mainly 12 and 13) are unmatched in all of the avatar franchise. it's non stop action and absolute eye candy to watch
11:29 if the Krew had a water bender with them when they saw the “captive airbenders” , they could have sensed the water in those fake captives, writers were smart with how to create situations without certain benders
And they didn't know that they had more people working for them that could move them to another place. Plus, who else could the "captive airbenders" be, there's no one else at the temple.
Lin and Suyin should have taken a page out of Azula’s handbook on not to let your opponent to power up because they wasted so much time on talking to Zaheer to surrender 😂
Tbf, they didn't know he could fly so realistically there's no way he could go and even if he jumped off they could just catch him with the ropes, plus it's probably better that your first option isn't straight up attack the person who has the avatar in their possession.
The Mantra of Guru Laghima makes me wonder what would happen if any of the other Benders adopted it and achieved the state of "The Void" that Zaheer did.
Man, Appa would definately not have stood for that shit. I can imagine standing Appa looking at Zaheer and saying, "so you think yourself an airbender, huh? Well, how about learnig from the original" and blasting his ass out of the peak lol straight anime stuff
I know it's been dismissed, but I can't help but feel Bolin can lavabend because his mother was from the Fire Nation. Would make sense; an earthbender with fire lineage would likely lean toward lava over metal.
So if a waterbender can bend clouds, does that make them half-airbenders? Or if a waterbender turns water into steam, does it make them half-firebenders? Or if an airbender warm their bodies, does it make them half-firebenders as well?
Yup since pli was literally the only one he would most likely die for and she died he has no attachment to earth and he can fly I’ve seen comments comparing that to aang when he couldn’t let go which the avatar can’t cuz they have an attachment to earth 😅
So Zaheer’s earthly tether was his love for his gf but I find it interesting that Aang had to go through a similar process when trying to achieve Avatar state with the guru. Zaheer is basically if Aang and Kyoshi mashed up together lol he would’ve had no problem in taking out the firelord if it was up to him 💀

So a theory I like is that all characters in this world have the ability to open their chakras. However, depending on the bender, it yields different results. For example flight for air benders, or combustion bender for fire benders.

I can't help but feel like if Korra went into the Avatar state at...Almost any point prior to the end of this episode, a lot of this could have been avoided
avatar state doesn't give super strength so she would be risking it and just like any fully realized avatar she dont need the avatar state for small fights

I had the same thought, and Gazan has a more fire nation look than an earth kingdom look, so one could assume a mixed background for him too.
