Some people are of the opinion that it will really compromise your reliability. I test the magazine like that a few times at least before I do it in real life scenario. I won't do it unless the gun has been through all of the different ammos independently without a hiccup also of course. I guess the biggest factor would be minor change of point of impact and recoil change. But I'm not sure that that would be a big deal in a real gunfight. I could be wrong. If we're talking about multiple attackers scenario then I guess everybody's just going to get what they're going to get. In whatever order they get it lol. 👊👍🦃
My XDM Elite 3.8 has never jammed or malfed. This vid gives me ideas and makes me think. Due to arthritis kicking up in my hands, I don't EDC my 3.8 10mm anymore. I now EDC a PSA Dagger and have 2 of them. I normally carry a small 7 shot S&W 22mag revolver when I do yard work....... thinking on carrying the one Dagger for yard work and outside duty and keep the other clean for everyday carry.
Sounds like a good plan! Never too many options. Im expecting a visit from arther soon in my hands. Too many insulting recoils to the fingers and wrist. 👊🦃👍 Just keep chootin! And .22 is still viable no matter what anyine says!
Holy guacamole homey. You've out in the sun man. I've been running in this heat. Bro, you might get extra checked at the airport, you've got so dark. I stack my mags the same way. My equipped mag in my AR is a mix and the extra mags are full mags of each type. 4 rds of frangible ammo, 2 controlled fracturing, 3 hornady flex tips and then 1 extreme penetrator. Then a full mag of each type. (In my .458 SOCOM) So your setup makes perfect sense to me. My M&P alternates between critical defense and critical duty and a spare mag of each
Thats awesome! That sounds like a sweet set up. Glad I'm not the only one doing this lol. 😎.458 is no joke man...wowsers. And yeah , i get dark as heck! The sun has been cooking me lately. I don't realize it until I see myself on the video. I stay far away from the borders and the airports!😎🦃👊👍🇺🇲
@@theturkeysopinion Thanks brother. I took the magwell off and installed the number 2 backstrap and it fits my hand like a glove. Keep up the great videos!
Very nice. I did see Hickok45 talk about XD magazines, stating that they are notorious for the magazine lips bending so easily if dropped at the right angle when ejecting them. I’m not sure if the XDM magazines are the same. I’m not a Springfield guy. I love my Colt Delta Elite. I have two. But in the woods when handgun hunting, I carry my Glock 20 in a Diamond D chest leather holster (hand made in Alaska). When fishing in the sierras outside of bear season, I carry concealed (legally) a Glock 29 10mm with a KKM barrel for the lead hardcast loads. I’m glad your XD worked nicely. You really gave it a real world reliability test. All the other “gauntlet” tests on TH-cam are so unrealistic.
I have never considered mixing ammo like that for carry, but I do it every time on the range. I pick 3 boxes of 115, 124, and 147 9mm, and stick 3 to 5 rounds each per magazine. Never had any failure with ammo during break in or after in any of my guns.
Always thought this was a good idea with any carry pistol. Leave it loaded and hit the range to test reliability. Definitely have my eye on this Elite 10mm. Nice video 👍
Oh yeah. Got to try out your gun in a real life scenario every now and then. It's a good way to rotate your rounds also. You're gonna shoot them at the range eventually anyway once you get a pile of them. Unless you're saving them for crap hit the fan. I'm really weird about testing my stuff. I have to keep confirming. Thanks for watching! 👊👍🦃
Nice! I expect most to think im nuts but ive done it quite often. I almost always have a surprise for the last round or 2. Even if it's just FMJ for penetration👊👍🦃
That's the beauty of working for myself. I don't care if anybody gets upset. I have about 75 customers. If one of them wants to throw a fit because I'm carrying a gun then they can throw a fit all by themselves🤣 It has actually never ever caused me a problem with a customer. They have asked me about it. And I have been honest and just told them I carry a gun for defense against 2 legged A holes or Dogs.... Actually quite a few of them have talked to me about guns after that. A few of them have actually shown me their collections! It's a good conversation starter!👍🦃👊
Just got mine. Ran it against my G29. So far after 200 flawless rounds I really like it. Time will tell and if there is a problem with it I will find it. Lol.
Mine has ran great so far sig fmj and Hornady xtp. Haven't put a lot of rds through it yet but I have had it 10 months. It gets dirty and holster worn around the farm pretty quick.
It is a hybrid holster that I made for myself. It's kind of a unique design but it works really well for what I do. Very thick leather backing and a Kydex piece over it. 🦃👍👊
Love your videos and you are consistent with your opinions. I find that some of the other people doing videos have a new favorite 10mm every week and always give the glock a free get out of jail card. Keep up the good work.
Turkey I'm a fan and like your vid's/info/opinions. I know you reload and seems like you have a pet load for the 3.8" but did you take the time and work up a individual pet load for the 4.5" before you sold it? Every gun has its pet load. How bad was the 4.5?
Well, 5.4 titegroup under a 180 grain Xtreme copper plated FMJ FN makes a great medium range round. I also like to load almost redline 150 grain nosler customs with AA#9. For max happy factor I push a ton of bludot in there under 180s👊👍🦃 The 4.5 was a great group however point of impact was way above point of aim. I can't remember how much but I have a video on it.👊👍🦃
I was wondering about stuff getting into the gun with the big hole at the rear of the slide (still have no idea why they did that?). I really like mine and when developing loads I found it really likes the hot rounds when it comes to tight groups. My middle load was the worst shooting and I actually missed the full sized target at 15 yards with one bullet and shot about a 8 inch group. The top end full power loads let me shoot a two inch group. It also shot a good group at the lowest load too, which is good for plinking. Great gun.
Great video. Just remember, you don't have to be faster than the bear, you just need to be faster than you friend! Not one single issue with my xdm 10mm 3.8. Put around 1000 rounds thru it and still rock steady.
I was thinking of doing a mixed mag for next range trip as I have a small variety to try. My S&W has kinda large opening at the back . Its a 10mm short...lol. Thanks for expo
Kudos for the XDm Elite 10!!! I have the 45ACP twin brother and have enjoyed that one a lot. Not as many rounds or scenarios as you, but I like the 45 and this one is the latest iteration of the 3 previous models I have used. I actually parked a Glock in favor of the Springfield because of chamber support. And I plan on trying some nasty stuff just for my own curiosity. And since I reload, well.....it's gonna get a healthy dose of +P++ depleated uranium tip loads! Just kidding.....I just like the ergos and I shoot it well. Isn't that the point?
Doooo it! I want to see it! I bet it can take it. I passed up the 45 version of this gun a lot. No I can't find it anywhere. Not sure if I would buy it but I definitely want to take a look at it. I bet it's a really nice shooter. This one sucks up recoil easily. 👊👍🦃
The only thing about the XDM Elites I'm not crazy about is the trigger. I don't mind that it's polymer unlike the older XD/XDM triggers, but I do wonder in the back of my mind if one of the blade safeties might break (like the previous one you had). Maybe it was just a bad batch? I wonder if the older metal XDM triggers would fit in the Elites. I can't see why they would not?
Yeah I'm not crazy about the design but it shoots pretty decently. I've gotten very used to it. I believe tomorrow I will be putting out another video you will want to watch about that trigger...👊👍🦃
So, I've had the gun for about 2 weeks and at 200 rounds the chamber indicator spring started working it's way out the top of the gun. ☹️ So, it's going back to Springfield for repairs. I really like this gun, extremely accurate (even with out the RMR) and it has eaten anything I put through it. Hoping it's just a one time fluke.
Ummm😬 yeah..... not looking good. Ill try to make a video soon but the short version is: They have delays upon delays and nothing has rolled out yet and no date in site. ☹️☹️☹️ 👍🦃👊
I have watched many torture tests from other YTber's and understood their intent, but the method seemed unrealistic. Mike Rowe would be proud of you. Your magazine loadings were also something I have never seen on any other channel. I have done that at the range, but never considered it for carry. Something to think about. Firearm cases are as full as they ever were near me now, unfortunately I still haven't seen a 3.8" XDME 10.
Mike Row lol. What a cool carrer that dude has had. I hope he watches! And yeah, if it runs in practice it should run in real life use. There are so many ammo choices out there with so many capabilities and different advantages so I cant help but stack a combo sometimes. Last 2 back before i found underwood was usually FMJ just for penetration if needed and you know they will feed. The stores near me are doing well also. I knew their inventory was getting a little thick when they started offering layway again lol. I can't remember where but I saw a Rock Island 12 gauge single shot for $95 the other day.... I can't remember seeing any new firearm for under $99 in years! But you're right I do not see the Springfield XDM's in 10 mm anywhere. Just online. 👍👊🦃
Mine came with the DRAGON FLY and not impressed with the DRAGON FLY so I'm putting a holosun green dot on it. Haven't shot 50 rounds out of it and I've had it for at least 8 months
I'm not really a red dot person… yet. I played around with him a little bit. I'm kind of thinking about picking up an optics ready pistol here soon that might put one on. You should definitely shoot that gun more once you get the optic on it. It's so accurate. That thing surprises me almost every time👊👍🦃
I really like your carry ammo organization.

I gotta try stacking different ammo in the same magazine shooting them
Some people are of the opinion that it will really compromise your reliability.
@@theturkeysopinion 😆 haha too funny 🤣🤣
Just keep chootin!
And .22 is still viable no matter what anyine says!
@@theturkeysopinion that's why I'm huge on the 22mag......22tcm probably isn't too far into the future
Even though your's broke, I purchased a new XDM Elite 3.8" on Friday. I hope to get it to the range soon.
Nice! I still trust mine for the most part. It's such a nice gun. Congratulations👊👍🦃
I have a Rock island 1911 A1 10mm. I shoot most Underwood 200 grain hardcast!
Yes! Its a plate beater for sure! I love that stuff👍👊🦃Rock island makes beast mode guns. They really dont fail much from what ive seen.
Personally I think the ammo mix is a great idea !
Nice! I expect most to think im nuts but ive done it quite often. I almost always have a surprise for the last round or 2. Even if it's just FMJ for penetration👊👍🦃
Why would you carry a gun when working? Customers would get upset .
That's the beauty of working for myself. I don't care if anybody gets upset. I have about 75 customers. If one of them wants to throw a fit because I'm carrying a gun then they can throw a fit all by themselves🤣
It has actually never ever caused me a problem with a customer. They have asked me about it. And I have been honest and just told them I carry a gun for defense against 2 legged A holes or Dogs....
Actually quite a few of them have talked to me about guns after that. A few of them have actually shown me their collections!
It's a good conversation starter!👍🦃👊
OMG......wanna borrow some pearls to clutch?
I'll ask my wife if she could give them to you.
Nice report! Ohh heck yeah, around the farm will get it every time lol.We have horses, we understand.👊🦃👍
What Holter are you using? If you don't mind the ask.
It is a hybrid holster that I made for myself. It's kind of a unique design but it works really well for what I do. Very thick leather backing and a Kydex piece over it. 🦃👍👊
@@theturkeysopinion nice. Among all the skills I have acquired, holster making is currently not one of them. Thanks for the reply.
Love your videos and you are consistent with your opinions. I find that some of the other people doing videos have a new favorite 10mm every week and always give the glock a free get out of jail card. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! I appreciate the comment. I know what you mean. I try to say what's really on my mind and that's it. 👍👊🦃
Great video. I own one.
Nice, Thanks for watching👊👍🦃
Turkey I'm a fan and like your vid's/info/opinions. I know you reload and seems like you have a pet load for the 3.8" but did you take the time and work up a individual pet load for the 4.5" before you sold it? Every gun has its pet load. How bad was the 4.5?
Well, 5.4 titegroup under a 180 grain Xtreme copper plated FMJ FN makes a great medium range round. I also like to load almost redline 150 grain nosler customs with AA#9. For max happy factor I push a ton of bludot in there under 180s👊👍🦃
The 4.5 was a great group however point of impact was way above point of aim.
Great gun.
Full power it is! All or nothing i guess!
It looks like the grand canyon on tne back of the gun lol👍👊🦃
Great video. Just remember, you don't have to be faster than the bear, you just need to be faster than you friend! Not one single issue with my xdm 10mm 3.8. Put around 1000 rounds thru it and still rock steady.
Nice report! That is awesome to hear. And good advice lol. 🤣 sorry bro, bye!🏃♂️🤷♂️
🦃👍👊
I was thinking of doing a mixed mag for next range trip as I have a small variety to try. My S&W has kinda large opening at the back . Its a 10mm short...lol.
Thanks for expo
For sure! Thanks for watching! M&P .40 should run it all!👊👍🦃
Kudos for the XDm Elite 10!!!
Just said that today about my P365. Time to shoot and clean it
But when it's clean you need to dirty it again! Endless cycle👊🦃👍
I put a Powder River Precision all metal in mine, love it
So, I've had the gun for about 2 weeks and at 200 rounds the chamber indicator spring started working it's way out the top of the gun. ☹️ So, it's going back to Springfield for repairs. I really like this gun, extremely accurate (even with out the RMR) and it has eaten anything I put through it. Hoping it's just a one time fluke.
Good report! Thats an odd one. Ill go look at mine.
Glad she runs other than that! Good deal👍👊🦃
👍
👍🦃👊
Any updates on the primer manufacturers in Texas?
Ummm😬 yeah..... not looking good. Ill try to make a video soon but the short version is:
They have delays upon delays and nothing has rolled out yet and no date in site. ☹️☹️☹️
👍🦃👊
@@theturkeysopinion thank you
I have watched many torture tests from other YTber's and understood their intent, but the method seemed unrealistic.
That thing surprises me almost every time👊👍🦃
Ur going to hate me but I got my 3.8 3 months ago and have not had time to shoot it yet 🥲
Ughhh!
That is ...thats....like....
So sad man! Sorry to hear that. I hope God grants you time and EXTRA🤞🏻 ammo soon! 👊🦃👍
