Hi thanks for the review. One of the things I notice on my AR 2.0 is when it's on the ground the focus is very sharp, when airborne the vibration seems to soften the focus a little. I am kind of new to RC in general. I was wondering if you thought some mods to the shock mounting or prop tuning would help? Are you planning to experiment at all with the AR?
Hey fellas. I don't own a drone yet but I'm very interested. I've been looking and comparing the specs, battery life mainly. 12 to 21 minutes doesn't seem very long to be out flying. Any word on other batteries coming soon to induce flying time?
Cool-looking hulls and props. That's it. But if you don't want to pay more for hulls and props, you can customize your drone yourself and make it look even better.
The Elite edition just gives you a camo hull, not worth it in my opinion, however you can get different editions like the gps edition and or the battery life edition, the bat life comes with more and better batterys and the gps edition comes with enhanced gps abilities
You can buy an RC interface for the Drone that lets you fly it with your Spektrum radio. If you like flying with sticks and like the range of your radio, that is the way to go. It is essentially plug and play. It plugs into the port on the bottom of the drone. A few trim settings later (detailed on websites) and you are flying like you are used to flying.
Vallentin Lövström Wadell Yeah, too get a better idea what your under, and the camera is used by the drone as a way to help stay stable when in a hover and helps estimate the distance the drone is from the ground
The bottom camera isn't used to estimate distance, only to stay stable in the same position on a plane. Distance is determined by the ultrasonic sensor.
Scott(s), I have the 2.0 and tried your battery tip. With 2200mah, it only recognizes 1/3 of the battery. With 1300mah, only half. What gives? I charged them completely and my tester reads 3.8 per cell, but still no joy. Any ideas? Thanks for all the great videos and keep up the awesome job.
YES. There are videos on TH-cam about using WiFi range boosters to boost the Parrot WiFi but in the end, you are limited by the WiFi on the drone connecting to the booster. You don't get that much range anyways.
you forgot to mention that the parrot 2.0 drone also works with Android and also has a camera on the bottom of the Drone, and it has the sensor on the bottom of the drone to detect objects underneath it and avoid hitting them
Yeah i own one. The problem is that when people hear the word 'wifi' they think 'internet, router' etc. Which seems to turn people away from the product. Wifi is just a kind of radio wave that allows electronic devices to communicate with each other. Yes the drone creates a wifi when you turn it on. So your phone sends instructions wirelessly to the drone and the drone streams video wirelessly to your phone. All you need to fly is a phone/tablet with working wifi, I hope i answered ur questions.
PJ Frederick The range is limited to wifi, so unless you going to get wifi extenders I wouldn't think this would be all that great. Plus the camera is average and in a fixed position.
You can buy or simply solder up an XT60 to mini tamiya plug to use the Hobby King 1300 mah lipos. Make the adapter as short as possible so it fits under the hull space
Yes AND NO. While you can control it with a controller, it MUST be paired via Bluetooth to a smartphone or tablet or iPod touch. I have the BeBop( A.R. 3) and it is ridiculously difficult to fly with the phone. I am someone who is used to RC cars and Xbox such and I CANNOT fly it without my iPega Android mobile controller.
First person view goggles are $250 alone, you figure $300 for this entire package with all the tech inside the parrot is a pretty sweet deal!! Add a wifi repeater and your good to go.
What Parrot should do when they're developing the next version of the AR Drone is to incorporate a feature that allows the AR Drone to connect to existing Wi-Fi hotspots instead of having to make its own all the time. On my college campus, thanks to signal replicators, the same Wi-Fi signal is available everywhere on campus (which is huge, by the way). If Parrot incorporated this feature into the next AR Drone, you'd be able to fly it around my campus without a signal loss.
I'm using a wifi repeater and getting way over 100 meter range some people are getting over 600 meter range using a wifi booster on the drone too use the 60 beat game controller with the Drone Ace app and you can fly it like an RC quad works great. also buy some bearings for the prop shafts as they have brass bushes stock and get sloppy quickly. Hobby King have the 3S 1300mah lipo for about $10 and fits in the battery slot.
So you do not run out of power put one of those soler powerd chips into you're project it will charge while you play with the drone in the sun adding flight time.
Hi flight test. I am a big fan of your show. I have always been interested in RC planes etc. I have always wanted to fly a RC plane unfortunatly they are expensive. I have been saving up for an AR drone and have finally got one. I really Love your fat shark FPV glasses. Where did you get them and how much are they. Please reply to this. Thank you
Christopher Kode One of my recommendation is the Fatsharks ultra micro kit. it comes with the headset, rechargeable battery, Camera with antenna integrated, and a case for the headset. Right now it is $299.99 for this set on horizon hobby's website. Hopefully that helped you out. Ask questions if needed. In my opinion, the Nvidia Shield is the best controller for this thing. Though some experienced RC pilots might have trouble adjusting to the "video game thumbsticks" to control it instead of a more conventional RC radio.
I have the BeBop (A.R 3.0) and for $21, you can get a iPega controller for Android (might work on iPhone). I have tried it out and it does work. Only problem I have is controller sensitivity isn't all "that there" when compared to an Xbox controller that it tries to clone but it is for mobile and it is light weight and it does have a phone clip for 4.5-6 inch phones. The other thing is that I wish when in controller mode that I could remove the on screen controls.
hmm, does it still count if the motors are set up on servos on a switch so they rotate 90 degrees to one side so it will knife edge? if so, then CHALLENGE ACCEPT
Hey you guys are nuts keep it up now the AR Drone no thanks but I'm a 53 year old RC guy so I guess it's cool if you have to have all the high tech. stuff. I'll stay with Quads, Scratch Planes, FPV. which is alot to keep up with... Great Video the ad was ok to..
I don't understand. What's the WiFi for? In other words, my indoor Wifi needs to have a strong enough signal to have this outside and fly away from the iPad? Seems pointless if that's how it works.
What they would need is a dual purpose Wi-Fi antenna, the same type of antenna that allows many smartphones to surf the Internet using Wi-Fi, and also alternatively to create their own personal Wi-Fi hotspots while they connect to the Internet using their 3G/4G antennas.
10 mins with standard battery. 14 mins with original HD battery. 16-20 mins with unofficial 1800-2600 mAh batteries for AR.Drone 2.0. It can lift up to 220 grams of weight, it can easily lift GoPro Hero 3 cameras. But it shouldn't fly more than 30 mins in summer, after you flew it 15-20 mins, shut it down, let its engines and stuff cool down for about 2-5 minutes and then replace the battery. It can work well at -20±35°C.

i was about to watch yogscast, but then i saw a thing on my homepage saying "flitetest uploaded" and i immediately clicked on it... i love you guys =3
Amazing how far drones have come, I own this and the mavic mini and the two couldn’t be more different. I guess that’s what 7 years does tho.
Love to see a video of all the out-takes of your episodes. You guys rock, but I bet the out-takes are halarious!
Thanks guys. I just got mine last night and I'm watching some vids before I dive in.
Chad and gang! Really loved this episode a lot, think the quality just stepped up a gear! really like the bit at the end :-)
Great RC, do you guys know whats the best resolution on the video recorder in the parrot?
For the complete control " he man mode" did you try turning around the I pad using the iPad gyro to turn it?
What a valuable historical videos❤

Hey is there a vertical camera on the 2.0? If so can you record video to get like a birds eye view of things?
Can you adjust the camera so that it's facing down more or does it have to be straight??
It already has a camera that is facing down. It has 2 Cameras.
The frontal camera is decent while the bottom camera is alot worse
Are you using bluetooth audio?
During the introduction of the settings you have the option to give a max altitude. How does the drone calculates the height?
Thanks!
THIS THING IS CRAZY OMG
this thing is my dream!! i MUST buy it!!
Great review guys, I've not wanted one of these before.....until now!

Mark Hall for drone battery's to last for 20+ minutes is actually really good
Mark Hall 20 minutes is an excellent flight time
What is the difference between the "Ar Drone 2.0" and the "Ar Drone 2.0 Elite edition"?
Tobias Sorensen 12 letters...
Cool-looking hulls and props. That's it. But if you don't want to pay more for hulls and props, you can customize your drone yourself and make it look even better.
Mark Hazlitt
There is no difference I have the elite edition and there is no difference

Isn`t there a second camera facing straight down too?
yes, there is
Yes there is but the bottom camera is a complete potato, the front camera is decent
ShadowBlaze Czerwien yeah, but it´s more made for perfect landings and stuff like that.
Vallentin Lövström Wadell Yeah, too get a better idea what your under, and the camera is used by the drone as a way to help stay stable when in a hover and helps estimate the distance the drone is from the ground

Wich app are you using? I cant find one that actually works
I like that you guys are in a little club house at a playground, to funny. .and the guy holding the mic has a funny grin. .lmao
how long does the battery last?? becouse im serching for a drone with long flight time.. please help me
about 12 minutes
9-12 minutes
if you are in area that doesnt have phone service ie: zion nstional park will you still be able to get this to work?
great piece of kit.....Aerotech please keep giving Chad loads of gear to review these guys do it the best,......keep flying
Can you please do the Parrot Rolling Spider Drone?
I wonder if you can use a WIFI booster and fly it further. Going to buy one and try it out
YES. There are videos on TH-cam about using WiFi range boosters to boost the Parrot WiFi but in the end, you are limited by the WiFi on the drone connecting to the booster. You don't get that much range anyways.
so what was the range i just purchased one of these but still can't find any info on range of one of these?
Cheers
150 ft 50-100 meters
~160feet
But it will only go about half what it's rated
you forgot to mention that the parrot 2.0 drone also works with Android and also has a camera on the bottom of the Drone, and it has the sensor on the bottom of the drone to detect objects underneath it and avoid hitting them
Chris Wistey what app do i down load to use on an android phone???
What is the view like on a iPod. Other than smaller Is it choppier? And about how far did it fly out?
Yeah i own one. The problem is that when people hear the word 'wifi' they think 'internet, router' etc. Which seems to turn people away from the product. the usb port is used for recording / a gps module like the ardupilot that you have to buy separate.
@filetest
can you descend and rise in a vertical direction with this?
How would this work for looking at crops, like a corn field?
PJ Frederick The range is limited to wifi, so unless you going to get wifi extenders I wouldn't think this would be all that great. Plus the camera is average and in a fixed position.
Parrot has made a drone/airplane that is based on watching crops over fields.
Cool quad for getting a birds eye view or for surveillance for air-soft and stuff.
You can buy or simply solder up an XT60 to mini tamiya plug to use the Hobby King 1300 mah lipos. Make the adapter as short as possible so it fits under the hull space
Does that mean if you are somewhere with no wifi, then you can't control it with the iPad or iPhone? Or smartphone?
The drone gives its own WIFI signal that you connect to and fly with the app you get in the app store.
Jared Bash thank you Jared
Jared Bash If I want to take it to a different country with limited wifi, will my iPhone still be able to connect to the drone?
Kim Bernz Yes it will.
I love the boom mic guy, just standing there in the video...
It is possible to stream to more than one device at the same time?
I meam, control it using one iphone and stream the video to another iphone.
can you use somthing other than a tablet/ phone to control? like a controller or somthing
Yes AND NO. While you can control it with a controller, it MUST be paired via Bluetooth to a smartphone or tablet or iPod touch. This review was hilarious and informative. Thanks, guys!
"Unless it's a really misleading name'", That's what I picked up from it..... You guys kill me.
Does anyone know why we can't get absolute control on any i device?
First person view goggles are $250 alone, you figure $300 for this entire package with all the tech inside the parrot is a pretty sweet deal!! Add a wifi repeater and your good to go.

great bit of kit, i have the 1.0 but the video camera could really do with being upgraded as it jitters alot.
What's that nitro powered plane in the background?
I wonder who will invent the first Collective-Pitch Quadcopter?? ;)
What's the height before you lose it forever
So you do not run out of power put one of those soler powerd chips into you're project it will charge while you play with the drone in the sun adding flight time.
Hi, I'm new to the hobby, do you know the battery life on this Drone?
around 15 min
Mine lasts around 12-17 minutes depending on how you are flying it
In my experiences about 9-12 minutes with the original battery's
Help?? Could you give me a good sugestion on an affordable quality video camera for FPV flying. Im using 5.8g video tx and rx with my dx6i. ???
Hi flight test.

how big of a memory do you need for the usb Drive ?
4GB of memory parrot recommend I think but otherwise you can have any memory stick in it as long as its FAT32 file system
I have one of these they are AMAZING although a little on the pricy side but if you are thinking of buying one DO IT!
Wow its really stable. With variable pitch props you cam fly multi-rotors upside down.

A shout out to those camera guys for shooting it so well. :)
Do you have the quad copter?
Nice review guys!!! :)
How far could your take it before it was out of range
I'm glad I subscribed to you guys, y'all are funny and make helpful videos...lol
hmm, does it still count if the motors are set up on servos on a switch so they rotate 90 degrees to one side so it will knife edge? if so, then CHALLENGE ACCEPT
Yay I got one today, I didnt even ask for one!
whats the range on it?
since it is using only WiFi.
Can you flip it while moving?
Hey you guys are nuts keep it up now the AR Drone no thanks but I'm a 53 year old RC guy so I guess it's cool if you have to have all the high tech. stuff. I'll stay with Quads, Scratch Planes, FPV. which is alot to keep up with... Great Video the ad was ok to..
What is the range of the WIFI signal?
It is about 1 football fields length but there are range extenders and different modifiers available to extend the range
if you look on parrots utube channel they ran it on 4G
100 meters is MAX Range
I wonder if a 2.4ghz cloverleaf antenna would increase the wifi range on the Parrot.
Does anyone know of a way to increase range whiile using wifi and still get video streaming to your device?
how about get some tape on those props?
I don't understand. What's the WiFi for? In other words, my indoor Wifi needs to have a strong enough signal to have this outside and fly away from the iPad? Seems pointless if that's how it works.
@infiltrator7777 No, the drone creates it own network which you can connect to. This gives you a safe range of about 50 metres.
Curtis Youngblood is working on a cp quad. It looks pretty impressive. You should do a review on it.
you can get a propper transmitter for the parrot ar drone you should try getting one of those and get bixler to fly it
Great video, totally helped me make up my mind on this drone.
i connect my dtone to wifi but when i go to app it says connect to wifi plz help
check your wifi connection 2 times or restart the app, Works For Me
The latest free flight lets you do actual "flips" forward or backward
do u need internet to use the app
This came out months before the first Phantom, drones came a long way since them. Just look at the latest P3's.
What they would need is a dual purpose Wi-Fi antenna, the same type of antenna that allows many smartphones to surf the Internet using Wi-Fi, and also alternatively to create their own personal Wi-Fi hotspots while they connect to the Internet using their 3G/4G antennas.
yes its about 10 to 15 min at fully charge
does this work with an android device such as the galaxy s4???
Do u have to have Internet to fly this
How long id the battery life?
DOLPH showoff 10 mins
10 mins with standard battery. 14 mins with original HD battery. 16-20 mins with unofficial 1800-2600 mAh batteries for AR.Drone 2.0. happy boom mic. operator, happy to be noticed
What kind of radio ?
Sweet work boys! Hope the best for Yall !
You guy's remind me of Wayne & Shuster of the RC World Good stuff.
thanks
There is a program for Pc which allows you to control the AR drone from your PC, which means you can get better range with a dedicated WIFI transmitter, but you can also use a Controller, including RC simulator controllers.
Just connect to your drone via wifi with your PC whilst running the program, your pc will take primary control and will display the camera imput, you can also connect your ipad to the AR drone as a "buddy box"
i will post a video responce
8:23 - Happy Landing Dance!
Hey guys use the "Fling Controllers" to get a much better tactile feedback on the ipad or iphone.
I bought one a few years back and crashed on the fist day. It broke the motherboard or something.
looks very improved, cool!
Well THIS quadcopter cannot fly inverted. And remember this was filmed 5 years ago.
The big draw for this was not having to drop a few hundred dollars on a flight radio. Everything you nee to fly was in the box for $300 ish.
The big draw BACK was that... you were not using a real flight radio... For an indoor hobbyist this is an easy entry to RC flight with rough but built in FPV.
Anyone expecting real performance or high levels of control will be disappointed due to short WiFi range and the less than optimal "tilt your phone" control and thumb alt/yaw screen button that has no feedback.
In the intervening years, many sources figured out how to get normal hobby receivers to feed into the drone control board so you can use regular flight radios or even X-box style controllers for far greater range and ease of control.
Newer, lighter self contained FPV can be strapped to this for far better FPV than you could ever get from the WiFi link. In another video they talk about using Turnigy 1300 mAh batteries instead of the Parrot 1000 for tons less money.
This also had Auto-Hover that maintained it's position until you gave it input. It comes with altitude sensors and a down facing camera to let it hold position and altitude.
How do you flip?
set flip option in settings and double tap in unused screen space
You can turn on the flip option in the options menu, I dont recommend flipping since it drains your battery
u can also go on ebay and pick up trans for it with the controller
I fly my quad inverted! Works fine, but the flight time is quite a bit shorter...
Dude! Is that a Pontiac Aztec?!!
