Wow, good on Toyota for putting the drain plug and oil filter in a relatively accessible place next to each other. That makes the changes so much easier.
Highly recommend the Craftsman magnetic drain plug tool. It’s flexible so you can turn and remove the drain plug with your hand out of the way. Great tool that allows drain plug removal completely mess free.
Yes hard hand tight is PLENTY tight going back on with filter. 10k oil changes and I've never lost a filter lol. That one will never come off even when you want it to . Good job, Great video tyvm
If you pour new oil directly from the bottle into that black oil drain pan it would look that black too. The oil coming out of the car was quite clear. I do agree however to change well before the suggested 10k OCI.
I’m curious to see your next oil change on this vehicle. I think you might be surprised because you put both the filter and the drain plug on like quite tight- lotta torque.
Hi Chris, thanks a lot for the video. I'm just wondering if you know what type of transmission oil? I have a Rav4 2020 hybrid. I checked the manual that comes with the car, it says ATF but when I checked through the VIN number on Toyota websites it says CVT!
Amsoil, even better. I would also pre fill the oil filter to prevent that 1 second of oil oil starvation. You will even hear it in the engine. And torque the drain plug to 30 ft/lbs. No need to shut the hood then have to reopen it again.
You dummies aren't too bright. You can prefill it and let the oil saturate the filter media. And it will also be on the input side of the filter where the anti-drainback valve is. It is a whole lot better than running a dry filter. But I guess you dummies know everything
I believe you should have waited until you poured all oil in the crankcase so you see if leaks will occur before closing the oil cover crankcase. Just saying…
Unfortunately, you don’t have many choices when it comes to this 0W-16 oil. I think only Pennzoil mobile one in Toyota make the oil. I don’t know why anyone would go to a Toyota to buy oil. They’re gonna rip you off over just buying mobile one on Amazon. I’m hoping to Costco Kirkland brand will start making it.
That’s shocking to see how dirty that oil was. You said 7000 miles to the next recommended oil change? So that was 3000 miles ( 5000 kms ) since the last oil change? Our dealership gave us a “ gift “ of a lifetime guarantee “ on the engine as long as all oil changes are done at this dealership. Didn’t read the small print so I bought a couple filters and crush washers at another Toyota Dealership while on a road trip. Apparently Toyota brand oil is made by Mobil 1 ??? so I picked up a jug when it was on sale. Never know if something happened and they had the oil tested and found out it was Pennzoil etc. so overkill but why take a chance. I had a GMC Sierra back between 2006-2012 and I changed the oil ( as I always have with all my vehicles for over 40 years ) myself. I did it every 3000-3500 miles and for the first 4 or 5 years the oil never got much darker than the colour it was in the bottle. On our 2023 RAV4 Hybrid new inMarch, we have just under 11,000 kms ( about 7000 miles ) and about 3/4 of that was city driving at or under 30 mph. That means the engine was probably only on for about 60-70% of the time. The oil on the dipstick is still real apple juice colour.
I highly doubt it! I had 3 Rav4's....2019 Adventure, 2021 Hybrid Prem, 2024 Hybrid Prem............I always do my first oil change at 2k and it's Always Pitch black!!I I can bet you at no later than 3k, It's pitch black....no way at 7k it's apple color as you stated!!

hello guys c est la même chose sur le CHR 184cv
Be good to update this video with proper torque values for the plug, socket sizes, and filter should only be 3/4 turn from gasket touching.
Well done, Sir. I’ve done 16 000km and I’ve done 3 oil changes already. Over kill I know. I’ve for a RAV4 Hybrid.
Highly recommend the Craftsman magnetic drain plug tool. It’s flexible so you can turn and remove the drain plug with your hand out of the way. Great tool that allows drain plug removal completely mess free.

The draining oil was surprisingly black after so little miles
The color really has little to with oils useful life. If you really want know when to change your oil send you oil in to Blackstone for analysis.
I’m curious to see your next oil change on this vehicle. I think you might be surprised because you put both the filter and the drain plug on like quite tight- lotta torque.
I’d say I had 20% less torque than factory. I’ll be changing the oil in two weeks and I’ll note if it’s difficult to remove them.
Drain plug is 30 ft lbs, yes 30. Filter is 3/4 turn more after o ring touches mating surface
@@TheVeronskieChannelwas it difficult to remove them?
Great job, it is better sooner than later.
Never seen a funnel that big before. Holy smokems!
I just use a Costco distilled water gallon jug. Cut it in half and it’s basically identical to his.

is the Rav 4 still running good? was thinking of getting a hybrid instead of gas.
Yes hybrid is better! By me the difference in cost will be paid off in 7 years (gas vs hybrid savings on gas)
Great video, thanks.
Thank you for sharing ,, How much liter 5 or 4 ?
the filter wrench is only meant to remove the filter
Is leftover oil (~1/2 quart) from PREVIOUS oil change, about 3 months old, and NOT contaminated in anyway OKAY to include in your active oil change?
Amsoil, even better. I would also pre fill the oil filter to prevent that 1 second of oil oil starvation. You will even hear it in the engine. And torque the drain plug to 30 ft/lbs. No need to shut the hood then have to reopen it again.
LMAO, I'd love to watch you spill half of your pre-filled filter on the ground
@@gernblanston4956yep, that happens to me all the time. Haha
What he would have to do it put the vehicle on is side to prefill the oil filter not to spill any fluid.

And, the RAV4 filter on the 2.5L is at a slight downward angle
what is oil filter part number for this hybrid car
I believe you should have waited until you poured all oil in the crankcase so you see if leaks will occur before closing the oil cover crankcase. Just saying…
It appears Toyota did not put the drain at the bottom of the pan. This will leave lots of oil in the pan. I wonder why they would design it that way.
It's good that they have you Pennzoil platinum. It's much better than Toyota oil. Pennzoil ultra platinum is even better.
Thanks for the info

Do you fill the oil filter a slight bit before hand tightening it? Not sure if it's needed but I always did it in my 2009 RAV4.
The motor oil geek recommends putting some oil in the new filter before refitting it.
What oil filter should I use on my 2023 hybrid RAV4 XLE premium? Thank you guys!
Toyota Oil Filter 90915-YZZN1 or equivalent
That looks brand new underneath
Nice Toyota tundra
How much oil is added to the engine for RAV 4? Where can i check the volume information?
He said it… 4.8 quarts. It’s in the manual
@@condor56352024 hybrid change with filter calls for 4.5.
That's if 100% drained...safer to put in 4.5 then check and add if necessary
I thought it was 4.5 quarts
always prefill oil filter
How many liters do we use when change?
He clearly said it in the video 4.8 quarts. 4.54 liters.
