Hey! I was wondering, is this tutorial for the Sims 3 or 4? If it's for the Sims 3, could I follow these steps but use a Sims 4 body reference? For example, the one that comes from the Sims 4 Studio.
For any others with the same question, no this would not work. The meshes and textures are formatted differently as well as some other complications with bones and you'll also need to factor in the different morphs.
I dont understand, in the beginning you select the waist then the start of the skirt just comes out of the waist??? What do you press to get the material to appear??
Sorry for the late reply! If importing the mesh is what you mean, I'd first try to download the bodies.rar file from here modthesims.info/t/411795 and extract it somewhere on you desktop. Then, open blender. Delete the cube by using either the x button shortcut or the delete button. Then you go to file>import>waterfront obj. file and navigate to the folder that you just extracted. Then you want to get the body that you'd want to have. In this case, I chose the afbody.obj file :) Hope this helps!
Sorry for the late reply! >.< Basically you wanna select it with b instead. I usually select the entire legs part with L first, then deselect them by using B. Hope that helps! :D
You can always make one that's drawn on the body itself. If not, use an existing EA mesh and eventually tweak that one around. Although the way I'd approach a 'maxis match' shirt would be expanding the vertices at the shoulder area. Basically what I did with the dress/skirt part ;) That's actually how you'd go with any maxis match. Some people do tend to use a cloned EA mesh and tweak it around till they get the result they were going for. So there are 2 ways to make a maxis match CASpart. 1. meshing it from the body reference. or 2. Using a reference mesh. :)
Greenplumbbob Lover thx for your reply^_^I tried to make one from the ea body but I was confused about the shoulder part .. I'll keep trying in different ways!!thx again!
I would try to check whether you maybe replaced it with the mtl file, which it generates with the obj. file. or if it's actually there in the first place. If you mean the reference body... hmm you did download it right? Went with obj (Waterfront) in Blender, did you? Do make sure you extracted the folder of course and check whether the obj files also appear in the folder on your computer instead of checking it with just Blender. :) You might have accidentally downloaded the texture folder of Nysha's templates instead. Make sure you downloaded the 'bodies.rar' download.
I'm new to creating stuff in Blender and have been trying to edit Sims 3 items from the TSR Workshop in Blender. I tried making a top and when I uploaded it to the TSR Workshop it looked like some weird thing influenced by Picasso. A lot of times I get errors when trying to import things.
Hrm it really depends on the error. There are a few things that are important to actually never really encounter any issues since TSRW is not being all that helpful in their errors at all. These should all be applied, never forgotten! :) And Milkshape is your friend! Blender is just a platform to mesh your meshes, that's all! Milkshape is there to make it game compatible, thus, cannot be missed! 1. Use model cleaner. (and click no on all popups!) This usually fixes most of my errors that I've encountered. (And should fix the seams across the leggs and torso, although I usually just use 'remove doubles' in blender to do so ;) ) 2. Align normals. It's a very important thing since it basically 'converts' the normals (Normals are basically these customized shadows on your mesh that aren't made by your mesh) To something the game and TSR can read. So if you don't apply this, you'll likely get the 'group_thin has this issues' error. WHich is nothing morphs related, just normals ;) 3. Always rename you mesh in milkshape 'group_base' since if you call it something like 'group_lol' or something, it will guaranteed not like it and not import it. TSRW works with this strict morph reader. So basically it reads all the meshes that are within the WSO file. If there's something missing from this list, it will cancel importing your mesh. On the picasso thing, especially if you work with MD, or maybe convert hairstyles, there's a great possibility that the polycount is too high for the game and TSRW and it will go all berserk on you. Now to check whether it really is the polycount, go to the mesh tab in TSRW and in your clothes's groups, check if under 'bones' it says 64. If it's 64, it's over the limit one group can, well... 'carry' so to speak. So you want to split the bones by splitting the mesh into 2 groups. :) Hope this helps!
All tools are right under the description (the ones you need, else I would have added something like 'choose between' which is probably just with Gimp or Photoshop), though the tools are different if you click another part because I sorted the tools under each part that's required for the part you're on. So you can either click all the parts and download the links right under each part, or just download them after you got to the files. Most files have their own description on how to install it, which is why I didn't And they're pretty easy to install. Like meshtoolkit (See part 4) is just an exe file that you can install, just like you would install any program. ^-^
Oh finally i installed the blender :D There is another problem. How can i add body shape or head shape into the blender? After i learn that i can start making accesories ! :D hope you help :)
In Blender: File>import> As obj. and select the body parts! This tutorial is a clothing tutorial though. I usually use a different approach on accessories by just meshing them instead of using the sims body as reference. ^-^

Thx for ur tutorial, it's very helpful^^but I wonder how to mesh a T shirt..it seems more difficult and different from the skirt.

Greenplumbbob Lover omg im an idiot ;-; ty for answering ❤
