    Band adjustments on a modern car, been a while since i adjusted bands, you make me want to go on a learning curve on auto trans bands. The over temp code was interesting it threw me into oh no whats the cause if the cooling system and trans fluid is fine,slightly loose bands?Buying you a Bear i mean a beer sounds nice.

      hi, yeah there are a few late model transmissions that still have band adjustments. i don`t think many are aware of the band adjustments on some....i often come across being the first to do the adjustments when they come in for a service. indicators of incorrect or not adjusted bands are when they wear out the tips of the bands and also the servo piston rod bore in the case wears out, because the angle of the band apply is out/excessive. also worn band, or out of adjustment band, will affect the timing of the band apply and will affect the gear changes. always good to adjust your bands regularly. ( another trans i just recently reconditioned that has never had band adjusted is pajero/montero/triton 5 speed v5a51 trans ) cheers

    I've got a Ford Aerostar that I backed the overdrive adjustment bolt out of all the way because I'm a genius. Now my transmission works perfectly but my overdrive doesn't kick in. Anyway of fixing it without dropping the whole transmission? Thanks

    So you tighten in the adjustment and then back it off? Can you tell if a band is broken?

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  ปีที่แล้ว

      hi, if band is broken it will keep threading in too much. you can see the bands when you remove the pan. sometimes if bands havent been periodically adjusted or incorrectly adjusted, the band anchor and strut brackets fall out. check all the basics first. check out our other 5r55 vids for more info. th-cam.com/play/PLQLkuOdKuFovvYiynq3ee--0WSSUyeIxu.html cheers

    Hello. How often should the belts be adjusted?

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi, if you do a regular trans service - we do band adjustment every 2nd service or if unknown we just adjust them. sometimes people decide to do their own version of adjustment to either take up the band apply time or to extend it. all depends on the person, motor, weight and condition of the vehicle. a quarter turn either way from the recommended wont do any harm on these transmissions if there is enough lining. keeping the bands adjusted properly allows lining to wear evenly and in doing so wont cause pressure on the servo apply rod to wear out the case as quickly and also the band tips wont wear out as they can if way too loosely adjusted. cheers

    What happens if band is too tight or not tightened enough?

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  ปีที่แล้ว

      hi, if too tight may wear out prematurely, if too loose the tips of band can wear out or the band will wear out unevenly causing metal to meal contact with drum. also the shift timing can be affected. cheers

      @YepThatsIt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @MustangGuy1996 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @YepThatsIt
      @YepThatsIt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MustangGuy1996 we calibrate when block is assembled. then when you install block you may need to perform trans relearn/readapt so pcm knows you have repaired/changed solenoids block. make sure you purge the air out of block before you install it or you will have very hard shifts until air is purged out. if you have more questions you will need to contact me on facebook link and supply some beers. cheers
